There is no one part of your body, yourselves that does not relate to other parts. There is no one part that can change or improve by itself because "it" relates to others. So, you have to improve "its" relationship to others. A "fixing/correcting what's broken" view does not highlight a relationship between "what's broken" and others. It only highlights your belief that the "what's broken" is to be blamed and needs a fixing/correction. If one person in a community does not get along with others, what would it take to improve the community? Blaming one person and trying fix him/her? Or improving the whole community by improving his/her relationship with others in the community? When it comes to our body issues, a more conventional idea/ structural fixing view is more often applied without even questioning. We can start to shift our thinking from fixing body parts into recognizing ourselves (our body, mind) more systematically as the whole, and start to approach movement practice from a systematic and holistic perspective and improve the whole body relationship, relationship with ourselves!
It's not your knee, neck, back, hip, shoulder, etc you are trying to fix! It's the relationship with yourself you are trying to improve through nervous system and movement retraining! Are you ready to shift your thinking and transform yourself? Let's retrain the nervous system and movement patterns together! A new video is about knee, but you know now that it's not about knee. It's about YOU!

Thank you. I am in the middle of a Total Knee Replacement recovery, going well as far as I can tell. However, the anesthesia / spinal tap reacted with an unkown enlarged prostate and bladder. I am trying to wake it up now for a month. Pelvic floor area is still constricted. Many people deal with this but do not discuss. Trying to breathe my way thru it. Catheters suck.

Here's an important thing to know. Everything is connected. There's no "fixing" of your knee without improving a relationship between knee and others, the whole relationship, interconnectedness. You're improving a relationship with your body, YOU through nervous system and movement retraining! Enjoy!

I love to go hiking but lately I've been struggling with pain in my left knee. I did this exercise, paying close attention to how my upper body moves. Then I walked for a bit and noticed my upper body wasn't doing the side movements like during the exercise. And because of this, there's too much strain on my knees and it's no surprise they hurt after a long hike. So next time I'm gonna take it slow and make sure to move properly, with my whole body in mind.
Thank you so much, Taro! This is the third time you've helped me with an issue.

Hello Taro! When I m trying this exercise, energy transmission stops at the level of the knee and I cannot shift my weight or move my pelvis. Could you suggest me a way to change this and improve the connection among knees, hips and pelvis?

it depends on which direction you shift your weight to as well as how far you go. if you shift your weight directly to the other side, your sitbone may lift away from chair.

I've been having issues with my right knee due to foot and ankle issues. I fixed the ankle, and the feet are a work in progress but was still feeling that shooting pain in the knee because of my bad habits in movement. I just followed along with this video and feel relief already! Thank you so much. I'll be doing this and a few of your other videos daily from now on!

@@CrapuleScred got it! I was a former rugby player, so I understand what you're asking. This video relates to your question. As you balance on a surfe board, you have moving water underneath that constantly disrupts your center of mass = destabilize your neck. So you will not only need to have strong support around your neck, you will need to be able to allow the force coming from underneath to transmit through your skeleton as cleanly as possible to minimize compression, torsion, shear stress to your neck. This is more about coordination skills than muscle strength, which is much much harder to develop, but much needed! My balance series would be great for that!

@@TaroIwamoto i will check that balance series! Thanks a lot! There is a special one for the neck or not really? Thanks again

@@CrapuleScred my pleasure! I have many videos on my "Improve Neck" playlist. But, in my honest opinion, I say this all the time in almost all videos, everything is connected. There's no improvement of one part without improving the whole as one part (i.e., neck) relates to the rest of the spine, pelvis, hips, legs, feet. If you don't improve a relationship between your neck and other parts, you cannot improve your neck no matter how strong you can make your neck muscles become with strengthening exercises. One of my purposes for my RUclips channel is to share my insights on human functioning from a perspective of nervous system and help people shift their thinking from a "fixing/correcting what's broken" structural view on their body, which is unfortunately a conventional approach. You might enjoy my post from this morning, so I will share here for you:

Do you have video that would explain how to retrain feet too? I have the tendency to lend on the outside of the feet, which causes unbalanced. Physiotherapists I consulted told me it was because the arches of my feet were a bit too hight. But I don't recall having this problem most of my life. So when I found your channel I thought maybe it's more a movement pattern issue causing this, but I have no idea yet where to start. Are you familiar with this issue? We often issue for flat feet, but here, it would be the contrary. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks and keep your excellent work.
