    I bought this bottle a couple months ago at Total Wine for $75.. I was surprised how good it was being it was only finished sherry. My first Royal Brackla and it's a solid 87 neat. These start getting expensive for the 18 yr & 21 yr especially. Great review.

    I bought the Glenturrent 12 because of your videos. I love it. I am going to buy this one, too. Yeah, sure it's not that great, but the money is good, it has an age statement and all natural presentation, and it is easy to find.

    Great review! Was just chatting with friends about the new bottling. I picked up the older bottle for $40 at Costco in Sept 2020. Will be looking for the new bottling, as they have taken it up quite a few notches! Cheers!🥃

    Good review Narb. I'm interested and Brackla's old range never managed that. I think the problem I have is the price. £60 for a 12 year whisky - finished in Oloroso - is a bit steep. It's pitched at a point where there are a lot of fine alternatives for less or just a few quid more for something better. There's also cask strength and/or single barrel indi's with sherry finishes in this ballpark too. To make it a repeat buy I think it would be better at £50 but that's not where the industry is at right now. Cheers. WT

    Yeah I went through a bottle last yr. I liked it but wouldn't rush out to get more. From Dewar's," The product is first Maturated in Bourbon/ American Whisky Casks (American Oak) to achieve the required flavour Profile. It is then transferred to first-fill Oloroso Sherry Casks from Jerez for finishing, which can last several months." I still think the Edradour 10yr UCF SV bottlings are the best in the under 100 sherry category. Cheers sir!

    I almost took a bait on this one but passed it up as I had a few other Sherry finish bottles at home. Very good review Narb. It sound like it is good but not something to shout loud about. Maybe more suitable for warmer months as a sipping companion?

    • @maltreviews
      @maltreviews  Год назад

      Yes no need to rush out and get it when you have so many solid options like you do of course!

    Thanks for giving this one a full considered review Narby! I've been curious about this one for awhile now as a slightly more unique entry sherry bottle and will probably pick one up later this year. I'm just so tired of the "modern" sherry profile of pencil shavings, ginger, and weird orange/vanilla/spice notes with generic black berry note sprinkled on top that it's refreshing to see at least one distillery trying to push around the boundaries of that for a 12 yr.

    • @maltreviews
      @maltreviews  Год назад +1

      Modern profile can frustrating when we have tasted some of the older bottlings but there are plenty of good options still luckily.

    Was very interested in this and considered getting but Ralfy gave it a so so review. He said the spirit character was covered by the sherry casks too much. That plus the price made me pick other options as there are plenty of things to try for a better value. Cheers

    A good bottle at a fair price, here in Milan last year it was about 50 euros 💶. However, you are quite right it is pleasant and good value but does not overwhelm with flavour. Thanks 🙏 for sharing your fine review. Grazie 🙏 ciao 👋 SF.

    What is your strategy to shipping bottles from the UK (eg. The Whisky Exchange) given the $50-$60 per bottle shipping charges?

    • @maltreviews
      @maltreviews  Год назад

      You have to buy enough bottles where the shipping makes sense. With cheaper bottles it often doesnt make sense

      @@maltreviews Thanks. Is the Whisky Exchange your go-to or have you found better value (shipping included) at another website in the UK?

    the new Campbeltown Loch batch July 2022 is kind of mediocre and can't wait for you guys to review it. The nose promises what the palate can't deliver and kind of a let down and it maybe will get better after sitting a few months but it's a 83 at best for me. Glad I only payed $55 at Remedy for it and not $80 or more that i see it around for

    • @maltreviews

      @@maltreviews It's opened up a little bit but it's no big deal but for $55 I guess it's worth it. the sherried version i got for $55 also and have not opened it and figuring it to be more complex

    Did you guys have a falling out? Malt Reviews fans want to know :) It happens to the best of us. No judgment at all. In fact, it's happened to me a lot lately. Lots of societal pressures these days. Off the charts, really. America is like a pressure cooker right now.

    Royal Brackla is a rich creamy spirit. To me it pairs perfectly with fresh x bourbon casks. Not sure why they wanted to finish it in sherry. Nice review, if they just put it in quality x bourbon casks I think it would be better.

    Nice. I have the older 40% version and it is pretty mediocre. I should get this to compare! It is awesome that you are going to do the 5 way blind. If you get a chance check out the blind I did in my first episode and let me know what you think!
