  • Tonight on #TBWD the Dalwhinnie 15yo Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Highland Region released at 43% is reviewed by Colin and Malcolm. As usual it takes a bit to fire up Malcolm’s memory, but once he gets going it only gets more interesting. This Dalwhinnie Single Malt proves to also be interesting and the guys determine that this whisky is a classic, sweet, & malty example of a Highland Release. Let us know your thoughts in the comments. Cheers!

While Dalwhinnie 15 is chill-filtered and colored with E150A (Deagio🙄), the distillery uses wormtub condensers, which give the whisky an oily, wheighty mouth feel. Though I wish it were more naturally presented, it's still a very pleasant dram. In my humble opinion, it's up there with Oban 14 from Deagio's Classic Malt series. Cheers boys!

Yeah, I wish color consistency wasn't important to producers, because taste and mouthfeel matter so much more...imo. The DE versions of Dalwhinnie are, at times, spectacular releases as well. Cheers!

OH man I do like Dalwhinnie! And this one is a consistently available bottle. To answer the question of bottle type preferred: I like a tall traditional bottle, don't ask me why because I don't know, maybe because the foot print is smaller so I can fit more bottles in a Whisky cabinet.
Also, I never thought of myself as OCD but damnit! That number one Snooker ball not being tight to the triangle keeps drawing my eye!

The pink isn't supposed to touch the reds on the initial setup. Usually just the thickness of the rack between them. That looks a little wide, but technically correct.

I like the 'fit more bottles' theory. That tracks well. cheers mate!

And, don't forget how good the DE releases are. Dalwhinnie produces some good spirit. Cheers!

What can you say, but really good value for it's age, shame about the presentation. Cheers Colin & Malcolm 🥃
