    Here's the crazy thing: unlike countless other concept cars, this one actually made it as a mass-produced car.

    That car is amazing, I could easily see it in my garage, more so than anything else out there right now. Its sexy, its practical and it is environmentally responsible and cheap to run. The best 50 odd grand you could ever spend on a car if you ask me.

    I like this car! More so than the roadster! It looks sleek and fast, and very confy!
    I'm not big into big oil and stuff; but I am into technology.
    The reason why I would drive a car like this is because it goes with my geeky personality.
    Will by hopefully a few years after it is initially released!

    @SuperKenny720 yeah but it's a good start. And the fact that you can recycle these batteries over and over again ensure that it will be much easier to monitor the world consumption if you compare to oil where the price is almost 100 $ per barrel now. Glad to hear you support clean energy :)

    no, it becomes intuitive because temperature, radio and volume are all place at easy spot to touch AND you have access to volume and change song on the steering wheel itself. Also, if you are a decent good driver, taking the eyes off the road for a wooping 1.5 sec really doesn't change anything. Also, a single touch screen can be updated to your wishes, you're able to watch a movie when parked, go on internet, list song and files like in an mp3 player...there is so much possibility!

    @DrMattyKay I don't know if you know this but to produce hydrogen, electricity is used. Also hydrogen is used to create electricity for the car.

  • @mets558
    @mets558 14 лет назад

    @Nichen i am too. its a low price, and there is so much potential to grow. just dont be surprised one day if they get in trouble and your stock drops. however, i think when it does drop, it will be at a higher price than it is now.
    also, i dont know if we are ready yet to make a big switch to electric cars. i think oil companies will still be very profitable, and there is still a lot of oil left. until it is cheap enough, electric wont take off. oil is a cheaper choice for most people now.

    @ Everyone who says "it cost too much". The first computers weren't cheap. They cost millions of dollars to make. But they were a beginning. The start of something truly amazing. Give them some time and some power to keep pushing the industry. We NEED small companies like this, it shows the big companies that such a small group can totally destroy them and they need to get off their butts and push innovations too.

    @Saebeck32 Just change the battery over, you can quick swap it in 3 minutes apparently.
    And the 85 kwh battery costs just under $12 to fully recharge at 14 cents a kilo-watt hour (my off peak rate) and just under double that at peak rates, so it's still far cheaper.
    And that's the 300 mile model.

    Very nice Car, cant wait till its in production :D regarding the dash with touch screen and keeping eyes on the road, i think you will get used to the locations of the buttons and wont have to look, i change stations and volume on my current audio setup without looking to see or feeling for the buttons. Seems cool to me.

  • @Nichen

    @prooc because laptop batteries aren't monitored 24/7 like the batteries in a Tesla. The batteries are always cooled or heated to maintain a temperature of about 21 degrees celsius which is the optimal. This is why these batteries will live on for a much longer time. They have done all the testing, otherwise they wouldn't have created the Tesla in the first place.

    The GM Volt uses a similar frequency drive, and the Siemens brushless three faze motor. It's not as nice as the handcrafted Teslas, but it costs around $33,000 and has a gasoline generator for long distance travel.

    These are wonderful, and the designs are awesome. I think it's a GREAT business model to create Luxury Electric Cars. The Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf are $40k, so $60 for a full size, totally electric car that looks this good... plus it gets 300 miles per charge. Great strategy. Like computers, cellphones, or even Mercedes' or BMW's... it will be YEARS before they make "affordable" electric vehicles (but the gas price trade-off is worth the price)!!!

    Saw this car at the mall...!!! Wow, was I impressed..!! 300 mile range per charge..!! 0-60mph under 6 seconds. 100mph top speed. Thats perfect. I never drive over 80mph anyway. The car is beautiful. What also impressed me was it's a normal sized vehicle. Not like the tiny smart car or Nissan Leaf. But hey, it's a start. It'll get better. Maybe if solar panels were added to the roof of the car, that may help, right.!!? :)

  • @tnguyen318

    I think Warranty is for if the battery fails. Other than that it will begin to deplete the moment it leaves the Factory. Modern Alkaline Batteries have an expiration date if you look on the back of the packaging. Ask your dealership before buying a pure battery powered vehicle. What are capacitors?

    Can't wait until it comes out, it would be like the first EV that will both look good and be a little bit practical...the roadster looks cool but..it's a roadster...the model s will be great for doing stuff like going to work, driving your kids to school and going out with your family at picnic..it may cost a lot more than a normal sedan, but the money you're saving on taxes and fuel make it more attractive on the long run

  • @Nichen

  • @ThurstanHethorn
    @ThurstanHethorn 14 лет назад

    @mojohookbarb The reason they are doing this is probably the same as the initial roadster. They built the two person roadster for people with disposable cash and to get the profit in by making a considerable margin. Also it made the point that Electric cars can be sexy & fast. No doubt as they continue to pay off the R & D and role out a network of service centres they can start reducing the cost.

    @DrMattyKay Oil is gonna run out eventually though... Electric car batteries are becoming smaller and more efficient and more parts of them can be recycled. When they become completely recyclable, they will be a lot greener... and when the electricty comes from renewable sources. They are getting better, but there's still room for improvement in EVs.

All we need is a battery technology breakthrough, and there are plenty of ideas and research teams working on their own way to do it.
