That car is amazing, I could easily see it in my garage, more so than anything else out there right now. Its sexy, its practical and it is environmentally responsible and cheap to run. The best 50 odd grand you could ever spend on a car if you ask me.
I like this car! More so than the roadster! It looks sleek and fast, and very confy! I'm not big into big oil and stuff; but I am into technology. The reason why I would drive a car like this is because it goes with my geeky personality. Will by hopefully a few years after it is initially released!
@SuperKenny720 yeah but it's a good start. And the fact that you can recycle these batteries over and over again ensure that it will be much easier to monitor the world consumption if you compare to oil where the price is almost 100 $ per barrel now. Glad to hear you support clean energy :)
I don't want any other car in the world besides this one, we've all been waiting far too long for the car of the future and it's going to be here next year
no, it becomes intuitive because temperature, radio and volume are all place at easy spot to touch AND you have access to volume and change song on the steering wheel itself. Also, if you are a decent good driver, taking the eyes off the road for a wooping 1.5 sec really doesn't change anything. Also, a single touch screen can be updated to your wishes, you're able to watch a movie when parked, go on internet, list song and files like in an mp3 player...there is so much possibility!
my only tiny niggles with it are reflective centre console and I wish the top speed was nearer 140, small glitches on a superb looking car and a game changer
My Father's DeWalt Nickel Metal Power Drill seems to be doing pretty well. He's been owning it for a long time. From what I'm seeing power level still works like new however I don't know how fast it depletes compared to the first usage.
@Nichen i am too. its a low price, and there is so much potential to grow. just dont be surprised one day if they get in trouble and your stock drops. however, i think when it does drop, it will be at a higher price than it is now. also, i dont know if we are ready yet to make a big switch to electric cars. i think oil companies will still be very profitable, and there is still a lot of oil left. until it is cheap enough, electric wont take off. oil is a cheaper choice for most people now.
@ Everyone who says "it cost too much". The first computers weren't cheap. They cost millions of dollars to make. But they were a beginning. The start of something truly amazing. Give them some time and some power to keep pushing the industry. We NEED small companies like this, it shows the big companies that such a small group can totally destroy them and they need to get off their butts and push innovations too.
@ianrkav It's pretty constant at around 20 dollars right now. But you should buy already because it seems to slowly climb up and then when Model S will be for sale the share will definately be a lot more expensive
@Saebeck32 Just change the battery over, you can quick swap it in 3 minutes apparently. And the 85 kwh battery costs just under $12 to fully recharge at 14 cents a kilo-watt hour (my off peak rate) and just under double that at peak rates, so it's still far cheaper. And that's the 300 mile model.
Very nice Car, cant wait till its in production :D regarding the dash with touch screen and keeping eyes on the road, i think you will get used to the locations of the buttons and wont have to look, i change stations and volume on my current audio setup without looking to see or feeling for the buttons. Seems cool to me.
I actually got a 2012 ford focus with everything x___x....I am seriously considering trading it in for a Model S if they get power stations in Florida.
@cbdh19 this is exactly what my family is doing. We have the RAV4 EV with solar panels on our roof and we pay nothing for driving with all kinds of tax breaks. it's awesome
@prooc because laptop batteries aren't monitored 24/7 like the batteries in a Tesla. The batteries are always cooled or heated to maintain a temperature of about 21 degrees celsius which is the optimal. This is why these batteries will live on for a much longer time. They have done all the testing, otherwise they wouldn't have created the Tesla in the first place.
I plan on buying a Prius for now, I have a feeling that Tesla won't have a service center in the South for awhile! The car will be worth the wait, I'm sure!
The GM Volt uses a similar frequency drive, and the Siemens brushless three faze motor. It's not as nice as the handcrafted Teslas, but it costs around $33,000 and has a gasoline generator for long distance travel.
These are wonderful, and the designs are awesome. I think it's a GREAT business model to create Luxury Electric Cars. The Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf are $40k, so $60 for a full size, totally electric car that looks this good... plus it gets 300 miles per charge. Great strategy. Like computers, cellphones, or even Mercedes' or BMW's... it will be YEARS before they make "affordable" electric vehicles (but the gas price trade-off is worth the price)!!!
@eldictator1 I think there has been a desire for these cars for a long time. The industry is the one that got left behind because you had Lutz running the show.
@BumbleBeeGS Ah yes, quite right my mistake. But those cars used comparably weak non reusable energy cells. A Lithium-Ion Battery is quite a huge difference.
I saw one pic on their site where the grill was more like an Aston Martin. Too bad they didn't keep it. It's still in their gallery pics for the Model S. Is it an option?
Saw this car at the mall...!!! Wow, was I impressed..!! 300 mile range per charge..!! 0-60mph under 6 seconds. 100mph top speed. Thats perfect. I never drive over 80mph anyway. The car is beautiful. What also impressed me was it's a normal sized vehicle. Not like the tiny smart car or Nissan Leaf. But hey, it's a start. It'll get better. Maybe if solar panels were added to the roof of the car, that may help, right.!!? :)
I think Warranty is for if the battery fails. Other than that it will begin to deplete the moment it leaves the Factory. Modern Alkaline Batteries have an expiration date if you look on the back of the packaging. Ask your dealership before buying a pure battery powered vehicle. What are capacitors?
Can't wait until it comes out, it would be like the first EV that will both look good and be a little bit practical...the roadster looks cool but..it's a roadster...the model s will be great for doing stuff like going to work, driving your kids to school and going out with your family at picnic..it may cost a lot more than a normal sedan, but the money you're saving on taxes and fuel make it more attractive on the long run
@mets558 Panasonic just invested 30 million in stocks...so it went up quite a bit now! Wonder if it's too late to buy tesla stocks at a low price...I think I will buy some still.
@mojohookbarb The reason they are doing this is probably the same as the initial roadster. They built the two person roadster for people with disposable cash and to get the profit in by making a considerable margin. Also it made the point that Electric cars can be sexy & fast. No doubt as they continue to pay off the R & D and role out a network of service centres they can start reducing the cost.
@DrMattyKay Oil is gonna run out eventually though... Electric car batteries are becoming smaller and more efficient and more parts of them can be recycled. When they become completely recyclable, they will be a lot greener... and when the electricty comes from renewable sources. They are getting better, but there's still room for improvement in EVs.
@TheOneNo20 sadly you are mistaken, hydrogen is too expensive, extremely flammable (more so than gasoline). It is also difficult to mass produce hydrogen
Those headlights are like big blue eyes. I could stare into them all day. All we need is a battery technology breakthrough, and there are plenty of ideas and research teams working on their own way to do it. Soon we will see one or two technologies break from the pack and become mainstream.Nickel Cadmium--------> Nickel metal hydride------> LiPo---------> Who knows? How long does your phone last compared to ten years ago?
Really epic to see the comments from 10 years ago and to see where Tesla is today!
someone get some more Model S footage, cause I've seen all there is on the internets. I'm fraggin' addicted to this car.
Here's the crazy thing: unlike countless other concept cars, this one actually made it as a mass-produced car.
I commute 100 miles a day to get to and from work, I would love to do it in a Tesla.
That car is amazing, I could easily see it in my garage, more so than anything else out there right now. Its sexy, its practical and it is environmentally responsible and cheap to run. The best 50 odd grand you could ever spend on a car if you ask me.
Epic and ground braking, can't wait till this hits the market! Great company in my opinion!
We need millions of cars like this on the roads.
Beautiful ride. Can't wait!
This is the kind of future I like. Thank you Tesla :)
@1091898 Nice to hear that you bought some shares! They've been going up pretty nicely lately :)
I want a Black one with Red leather interior! Wow the big 17 inch screen is a dream come true.
I like this car! More so than the roadster! It looks sleek and fast, and very confy!
I'm not big into big oil and stuff; but I am into technology.
The reason why I would drive a car like this is because it goes with my geeky personality.
Will by hopefully a few years after it is initially released!
Thanks Piscataway!
This is so exciting. I am happy its gonna hapen in my lifetime.
What an amazing 10 years since this comment.
@SuperKenny720 yeah but it's a good start. And the fact that you can recycle these batteries over and over again ensure that it will be much easier to monitor the world consumption if you compare to oil where the price is almost 100 $ per barrel now. Glad to hear you support clean energy :)
beautiful!!!
I love this car and I love this company!
awesome! great work! i love the car...i just wish the front was less of g37 like or at least nissan style
wooow thats amazingly beautiful.
I don't want any other car in the world besides this one, we've all been waiting far too long for the car of the future and it's going to be here next year
Stunning....just stunning!
This car is love at first sight!!!!!!!!!

Sleek, high-tech, decent pricing, speedy. Overall grea- OHMYGOD, the handles recede. Dream car found.
And now we have the Model S Plaid
My Father's DeWalt Nickel Metal Power Drill seems to be doing pretty well. He's been owning it for a long time. From what I'm seeing power level still works like new however I don't know how fast it depletes compared to the first usage.
Genius!! I can't wait!
@chuntohk
yeah my dad was going to get the roadster but when he saw this he was obsessed. hes on the waiting list already
@DrMattyKay I don't know if you know this but to produce hydrogen, electricity is used. Also hydrogen is used to create electricity for the car.
@Nichen i am too. its a low price, and there is so much potential to grow. just dont be surprised one day if they get in trouble and your stock drops. however, i think when it does drop, it will be at a higher price than it is now.

FSD Beta is amazing
I want one! Just bought a Nissan Leaf the year and love it. Thanks Tesla!
@ Everyone who says "it cost too much". The first computers weren't cheap. They cost millions of dollars to make. But they were a beginning. The start of something truly amazing. This car is awesome. I hope tesla continues to develop this technology. We need it desperately. Gas is $4.03 per gallon right now
great piece of work
@ianrkav It's pretty constant at around 20 dollars right now. But you should buy already because it seems to slowly climb up and then when Model S will be for sale the share will definately be a lot more expensive
These guys are damn serious with their cars
@Saebeck32 Just change the battery over, you can quick swap it in 3 minutes apparently.

sometimes we forget that vehicles are a luxury
love it!!!

beautiful car awesome i want one i need to c the price tag though

That car rocks. I want it.
This... car... is... gorgeous....
This is gorgeaous!! Omg! Amazing!! When can I get one! :)

@Nichen Yes, I think you're right. These shares can only go up I think:-)
@voxveho Have you taken notice to the huge disparity in price when trying to upgrade to a battery setup which can get you decent mileage?
@eldictator1 I think there has been a desire for these cars for a long time. The industry is the one that got left behind because you had Lutz running the show.
Nice looking car. I would buy one.
Is it an option?
a game changer of a product...I'll wait 5 years before I get one
Did you finally get one?
I bought 10 shares of TSLA on day one of the IPO at $17. As of today it closed up around $30. I should have bought more!
@BumbleBeeGS The 300 mile one is 80k. I would take the 160 mile one since it's 20k less and I am not doing any road trips with it.
Saw this car at the mall...!!! Wow, was I impressed..!! 300 mile range per charge..!! 0-60mph under 6 seconds. 100mph top speed. Thats perfect. I never drive over 80mph anyway. The car is beautiful. @SuperKenny720 sure but how many cars are there today? about 700 million.
why did the design on the front change?
Love you all godbless
Love the car. It is definitely the future. The company is great and they´ll be big in the future.
and you were right
Same here. But my concern is the Battery Life. Batteries tend to lose power in 5 years.
Where can I find those background pics? I want a picture of the car with it's lights on.

Anyone know how they will implement software updates in this car? Through wireless, or do you have to connect it to a laptop?
@mojohookbarb The reason they are doing this is probably the same as the initial roadster. amazing, this look like Maserati

@Devils1stBorn
Actually, the model s starts at $49,000 and the roadster starts at $109,000
Nice interior like the Audi in I Robot
@PivotXL1 Ah after further research you have made it more interesting. I mean I love the car, but out of my price range i guess.
@prooc but how often do you drive faster than 120?
Brilliance!!
can u update the desktop look of the ui? and speedo and revometer?
hell yeah, so cal
This car gives Aston Martin a run for their money, when it comes to great looks. I hope this car is affordable and best of luck to Tesla.
@sliwkowy Have you ever tried that ? What was your feeling like?
WELCOME FUTURE !
WELCOME FREEDOM !
How much would one pay for regular maintenance on this kind of vehicle?
uhh, yeah. THIS IS AMAZING! WANT!
does the touch screen have multi-touch function?
@kostea13 The Tesla Model S isn't solar powered - I believe the Fisker Karma is, but it does cost more than the Model S.
Does anyone know if you can turn off the screen while driving?
A lot of people say the same thing about Macs. Give it time. They're hoping to have a cheaper car out in a few years if they can survive that long.
Very nice car, looks like an Aston Martin.
But I prefer the buttons not the touch screen.
How does it carry 7? Are they including two rear facing child seats?
Those headlights are like big blue eyes. I could stare into them all day. All we need is a battery technology breakthrough, and there are plenty of ideas and research teams working on their own way to do it. Soon we will see one or two technologies break from the pack and become mainstream.Nickel Cadmium--------> Nickel metal hydride------> LiPo---------> Who knows? How many miles per gallon does it get i hope it gets 30 miles a gallon
TESLA store opening in my mall soon!
@piscataway53 for the base 160 mile. 80k for the 300 mile.
there is basically no maintenance. wearing parts are wheel bearings and suspension mounts
