No joke, this channel is what Metallica should have been. You've absolutely nailed the balance between bass and the rest of the music - I've always thought that Metallica basically balanced-out everything below about 256 hertz. You've made a very faithful reproduction of what these songs would have sounded like if they were released 20 years later on modern hardware - you really need to absolutely BLAST Metallica to even hear a hint of this content. Yet now because of you I can hear with total clarity how this instrument was supposed to blend with the rest.
@@kellogc No, thank you! For being the person to bring Cliff's brilliance to the average listener. You have a special talent that lets you convert Metallica to something everybody can enjoy - don't think for a minute that you are unable - I consider this channel to be my number one source for what Metallica could have been
Man, I just watched a few of your videos. Your playing and tone are amazing. Me, I IDOLIZE Cliff and Les Claypool. But I only know maybe 2 complete Metallica songs, and 3 Primus songs. I write music, quite a bit, actually. Add to that a full-time job and a 2 y/o son, and I just don't have the time. My focus is on my own stuff. Hell, I've forgotten how to play a lot of MY songs. I don't have the memory power to remember that much stuff. If I don't play a song for a few weeks, I start forgetting it. LOL So, kudos for learning and memorizing all that music.
@@kellogc I struggle with using different strings I can pluck different strings at the bottom of the base no problem I play with my fingers just like you do but my other hand won’t go up and down on the scale.. how do I get my hands in groove to it

Dude your such a influence to me you can play so many different songs.. I’m a beginner bassist and I use my fingers the same way you do on a right hand Dean V bass.. my problem is I don’t know exactly what frets to use I just know how to play by ear to make it sound similar.. any tips?
You comment is a bit old and you might have found this already, but you can lool up song tabs. They tell you what fret on what string to play, it's great for learning song as a beginner. Over time you'll start learning how different intervals sound and start learning riffs by ear.

Is it just me or does his picking hand technique just look incredible?
Thank you!
@@kellogc of course man👍🏼
It is incredible.. 😊 Watch his resting hand not move, only finger picking.
He's amazingly good
Great timing on the riffs. They are really hard to nail with album quality precision.
Thanks!
Incredible cover! I always wished that Metallica turned up the bass more in the mix for their studio albums like Geddy Lee or Justin Chancellor.
even then, Chancellor get screwed over on Lateralus
Fucking lars mixed the songs.... he's the reason we can't hear the bass
This is fine for a bass cover but it’s way too loud for a studio release. It’s louder than everything else in the track
Every cover/original is great. I love your playing, sir.
Thanks!
