Can you please put Q&A in the title of the Q&A Videos? It would be much easier to differentiate them from regular Surveillance Reports that way.

Can y'all put QA in the title?

Agreed. These titles are misleading, the video is a variety of topics but the title and thumbnail suggests an in-depth discussion on a single topic.

    Re: movies/shows and piracy:
In most cases, I'd say screw the services. If more services offered options for true ownership (ie you buy a movie and can download/watch offline), where the items you buy are not subject to later removal from your account for whatever arbitrary reason, I'd say one has a valid case for not pirating.
Until then, piracy is not theft, because purchase is not ownership.

When buying isn't owning, piracy isn't stealing. I buy and rip discs when discs can be bought. When they can't, screw 'em.

Good question about banking apps. I stopped using mine after they stated they would track my browsing behaviours. They couldn't answer my question clearly so I dumped it.

You should be able to opt out of DMV requests for your info by submitting a "Request to Withhold Name and Address" I know at least some states allow this.

0:38 I'm surprised you're able to exclusively bank on your web browser without the app, because in many countries, you won't be able to do any transactions on the browser without it, since the app serves as 2FA to verify your identity. If you don't have the app, they may do 2FA via SMS, but arguably that's less safe. Another thing I don't like about some bank apps is that they won't let you perform any payments/transfers unless locations is on, which sucks. Some people have suggested using a location spoofer, but I don't know if that actually works.

This much is true. A person in my life has to deal with this.
I, on the other hand, do not use banking apps and exclusively use web. I am on Lineage OS anyway and I think it would trigger Safetynet, leaving me unable to use the app.

Yep, no app = no online banking for me. It sucks

That sounds idiotic (on the banks side) there are plenty of other ways to 2fa without using an app, why don't they allow them instead?

@@ameritus9041I didn't say the app was the only way for 2FA. The other way is SMS, which is less safe. Also, if you are abroad, you may have issues with receiving a 2FA code via SMS. It may also be expensive. What other ways did you have in mind? AFAIK no banks does 2FA via a third party authenticator app. At least not mine.

@@ameritus9041 I have no idea and yeah, again, I hate it. I was with 2 banks so far. One required an app for 2fa and the other one requires a card reader. I hate both.

3:44 My initial thought was, “You can be ‘private’, but only ‘their’ private.” (As when France was called-out for programming an expiration date on their CBDC.)

I agree so much with Nathan about banking apps. Having a banking app increases your attack surface. Thank you for giving me the words to describe how I feel. Thank you for helping me express myself. You make me feel less of a misunderstood idiot screaming in the desert. Thank you for what you are doing for my mental health. Thank you.
Now in some ideal world my bank would stop pressuring me. My bank would stop trying to make my decisions for me and tell me what risks I should take: dictate to me what risk is acceptable (they consider safe) and what risk is unacceptable (they consider unsafe) for me. But the world is not ideal and banks are too powerful.

Most careers nowadays are not possible without a banking app. 30 years ago... yes.
