It's a pity the Vectrex version, we can assume it's emulated, didn't have the emulated overlay used for the footage. Also, as the emulator apparently can't display the vector monitor well at all, it loses a lot
I've always loved this game. I remember being so dissapointed that there was never an Atari 2600 port of it back then. There is now. In fact a damn good one. The only port that I was aware of at the time was for the Vectrex, which I didn't acquire a system until many years later.
@Diskun That's probably spot on. I would have been fine having copies of both but I'm in the minority more than likely. I really wish I had bought one of those Adventurevision's back then.
The Vectrex version was even better to play than the original. Optimized fun and difficulty. Perfect scramble is on the Vectrex, with the color overlay, playing in the dark, with also its strong sound.
Earliest KONAMI video game alongside Frogger (also known as official KONAMI mascot, but unusual because too busy with other IPs such as Goemon, Metal Gear, Castlevania, Contra, Suikoden, ISS/PES) and the prequel to Gradius. Old time KONAMI are underappreciated evenly.
I remember playing the Arcade version while waiting for my Dad to get pizza as a kid. The X360 version looked nice, as well as the enhanced version from the GB Deluxe.
Do you like the Xbox 360 basic version not Xbox 360 enhanced version because it reminds you of your childhood playing the Scramble acade game while your Dad got a pizza for lunch or dinner?
This is really good! 👍 Could you do a comparison video on the many clones of Scramble, and a comparison video on Frogger, including the XBLA Version please?
Of course the Arcade was the best (it were several variatons though..) my second one is the PS1 version. I like the Vectrex version's vector graphics, this would be fantastic in multicolor.
I think that it is an unlicensed clone and this video only shows official versions of the game. If we make an Scramble clones video some day I will add this versions for sure.
@@jasonlee7816 Maybe the second worst, but I like the technology involved. Vectrex is pratically an oscilloscope turned into a video game. You know color isn’t everything. The game plays well, and while there is no color, the vector graphics make it up, as back then, this was the best version when it came to graphics.
They're all emulations or very crappy ports (excepting the Vectrex which is pretty cool). You should have included some actual remakes such as the BBC Micro version (Rocket Raid, by Jonathan Griffiths)
As stated in the description we only wanted to show official versions of the game. Maybe some day we make a clones comparison of Scramble. Thank you for the suggestion.
@@retrosutra Interesting. I didn't know that the Vectrex version was official. I do know it is a rewrite, not a port of the arcade source code. I guess by 'official' you mean 'licensed'...

This is the first this a vectrex port of a game is shown on this channel. It’s not a bad port (if anything a rather good port for the time).
And it was a great one. I played it a lot on my Vectrex!
It was Soo smooth!
Vectrex (1982) didn’t (hasn’t) aged
well after 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 years

Yeah! Vectrex is something very cool to be seen.

How many memories....
Nostalgia.
would have liked to see a lot of the classic systems like C64, Spectrum, Amiga, Atari ST
Nice one! How about a second video with bootlegs and clones? I 'd like that.

This is old, Just as Donkey Kong!
Konami released Scramble in January or February 1981 before Nintendo released Donkey Kong in June or July 1981 it is 4 or 5 months older
Loving the enhanced X360 version - now that's how you do an update!
11:05 Game Boy Advance that is how you do an update
17:33 Xbox 360 might’ve been how to not do an update

Let’s Compare Scramble
1: Arcade (1981)
2: Vectrex (1982)
3: Tomytronic (1982)
4: Tomy Tutor (1983)
5: Playstation (Konami Arcade Classics) (1999)
6: GBA (Konami Collector’s Series: Arcade Advanced) (2002)
7: GBA (Konami Collector’s Series: Arcade Advanced) (Updated Version) (2002)
8: Playstation 2 (Oretachi Game Center Zoku: Scramble) (2005)
9: Nintendo Ds (Konami Arcade Collection) (2005)
10: Xbox 360 (2006)
11: Xbox 360 (Enhanced Version) (2006)
I remember the first time played that on GBA. And same thing for Gyruss and Time Pilot.
Whoa, I’m really surprised there weren’t more home computer ports of this.
would you want to port a 1981 arcade game?
if nobody wants to purchase it on a computer
Retro collectors would. Now stop replying to everyone, your opinion is biased.
the Vectrex is My favorite version.

GBA my favorite version.
GBA basic version looks slightly better than the arcade game
my pick would be the GBA updated version looks heaps better
