Just wanted to comment on the museum story as a conservator/restorer! It’s unfortunately so true that most museums have many smaller artefacts with little provenance that are considered “low significance”. My museum runs object handling sessions with kids using objects that we don’t know much about, as it can be a great way to teach about history in a tangible way. In my opinion it’s better that these objects are handled and possibly damaged/lost rather than stay in storage indefinitely, though the museum is definitely at fault for letting young kids handle ancient objects and not supervising them closely enough to notice one missing!!

Story 2: I feel like the context that he *also* says loving things is super important! I was super uncomfortable with the idea that he was misleading her and mocking her - especially since I'm French and I can just imagine the kind of guy who would act like this - but with that context, it seems more so like... he might be running out of inspiration and saying whatever's going through his mind to keep the talk going, lol.
Yeah I was getting less of the impression that he was mocking her and more that he was just rambling in French to keep her interested while also desperately trying not to finish too soon. Essentially the same as reciting baseball statistics in his head.
It definitely read like "This guy is just complaining about her to her, pretending its dirty talk, and she knows but is fine with it" until that edit. Im glad they mentioned it
I’m so happy for O.P. For speaking her piece after getting divorced. On the one hand, people can be too focused on “closure” after a relationship ends. But on the other, if you don’t say what you need to say, that can end up causing problems for you that could have just been fixed by taking a couple of minutes to say whatever you’re holding on to. A decade ago, I was being cheated on by my boyfriend. I knew the entire time and gave him many opportunities to admit to it but he never did. When I finally dumped him, I was so focused on taking the high road that I never said what I needed to about what happened. It ended up backfiring on me since I didn’t give myself the moment to express how I felt. She absolutely did the right thing.
The amount of women who experience like abuse then say “I’m conflicted” is so fucking sad like LEAVE HIM GIRL YOU DESERVE SO MUCH FUCKING BETTER!!!!! I know everyone has their reasons for not leaving, so I didn’t judge them at all, it just breaks my heart that so many people get caught up in cycles of abuse like this!
Angela's confession is so right. I only WATCH Smosh. I too forget that stuff like reddit stories and smosh mouth are podcasts too. Idk what it is, but I have to watch all podcasts, not just smosh

Don't worry, the story is fake. Literally 5 minutes after the first post that same account posted an AITA thread claiming to be an 18 year old woman with a boyfriend (not husband).

“me after the holiday party-“ and the immediate regret absolutely killed me. angela and trevor are a S tier duo. each of them takes turn being the “straight man” and the “funny one”
25:36 someone commented "When I was in 10th grade a state trooper came to our class to give us the "drug talk." He passed around two joints so we could look at them and smell them, presumably so we would be able to recognize weed. It would be a funny story if only one of the joints came back to the front of the class. Not what happened. Three came back. He was not pleased, and we got to sit there for an hour while he and the principal demanded that we rat out the culprit. Nope!"
@@chunken117seriously. It sounds like the “drug talk” worked and a kid felt guilty for having a joint on him and gave it up. They should praise them for it instead of looking for someone to punish.
In an ideal world, when OP pressed charges against the insane MIL, she would have been able to say "Maybe now *you'll* think twice before humiliating your son and yourself" to MIL's face.
A Reddit theme I would like is “Exposed” and the stories are where someone/the other person finds it and tells the other side of the stories. Maybe it could also be the ones where a redditor does research and finds the real news story but that may be going too far
Just... not the one where a man asks for relationship advice about his wife having an affair, and culminates in her killing their children and reddit absolutely thought it was fake until they found the articles. Most heartbreaking "update posts" ever.
angela pointing out you can have self esteem but also be a target for a predator as well, be stuck, be lied to. yes its less likely, but predators hunt and are good at it.
The divorce story is maddening because this guys new girlfriend, text his ex wife and said she ruined their relationship when she literally ended their marriage
1st story - a coworker of mine threw up during an interview for a higher position - right in front of the guy interviewing her. He grabbed a garbage can for her - she got the job.

Shayne worried about Egyptian curses. The figure they stole when they were 7 years old was probably of Tawaret, a goddess of protection and motherhood. She's not gonna curse a kid.
I say this on every reddit video that involves the topic of abuse but yalls takes on them are more important than you probably think. You say things it took me years after surviving abuse to understand and consider and I just know if someone is in similar situations hearing these stories your opinions will help them. Its genuinely a breath of fresh air hearing such validating and empathetic opinions towards victims as opposed to the average blaming and shaming we've experienced for decades.
33:50 Angelas analogy of comparing ancient ceramics with coffee mugs as our future artefacts is so genius. Its so true because there are some types of ancient ceramics that we have an ungodly amount of. Its like future archeoligists finding a million basic ass ikea coffee mugs, at some point you just have seen it all
As a museum employee, 1. They probably got the artifact through dubious means. 2. Why the hell would you allow seven year olds handle original artifacts? Educational collections that I've worked with are repos. 3. The hippo headed goddess is a goddess of fertility and children. So she'd probably not curse the kid. 4. Every object in a museum was once someone's personal belonging. That pretty plate on display was someone’s fancy plate they only brought out for special occasions. The excellent example of glasswork? Someone’s hard work, sweat, and tears went into it. Humans connect through material culture across thousands of years and across the globe. This is why connecting to lineal descendants and descendant communities is so important and should be the basis of telling the stories of these belongings properly.
I really need these to be longer 😭 Whenever Shayne says “last one” my heart breaks a bit 💔 I appreciate all the hard work from the crew scouring the hellscape for the stories though!!!
There is a French word for Nutella, well chocolate spread but still, it’s pâte à tartiner, literally translated: sandwich paste. So yes, he can talk about her eating all the nutella without her finding out
42:53 “whoa it’s cool to hold this” followed by trevor getting on the floor to recreate the shape of the doll, angela freaking out “the doll has socks on!”, and shayne just nodding his head like “yup, welcome to reddit stories”
And he ruined her ability to fully trust anyone she meets in her future when he chose to betray her and cheat on her. Karma's a bitch and he deserved what came to him.
I'm amazed at your comment and everyone who upvoted this. He did this to himself? He cheated! He wanted a divorce. He is all in fault and is fragile as hell as he still thinks of his ex-wife when he's with his mistress now. Nothing redeemable about him. He ruined HER ability to trust again as HE CHEATED.
1. Angela getting excited to hold THE ipad 2. Trevor getting into the dolls position 3. Angela noticing the dolls socks I died laughing at the combination 😂
I have to agree with Trevor, a lot of the Reddit Stories are about just sad/bad/crazy people (a lot of AITA). I think it is time for another wholesome episode. Make us all cry out of happiness.
16:40 hearing this saddens me, she knew what was coming, she experienced the slow distancing of her husband, and she still waited for him, but in her heart she knew something has changed
31:00 honestly why doesn't he just return it to the museum and say "hey, I took this when I was a dumb seven year old kid and was scared to return it. I recently remembered that I have it and wanted to return it."
15:46 Angela is so real for that. Talking about sex with friends can be hit or miss but with friends that are ALSO coworkers that you spend all day with… hard no.

I'm Norwegian and I found the story in the newspaper. I redacted the name of the woman who found it. This is a translated snippet: "- It looked like a young person had been tied up and laid in the ditch. It was quite a sight in the early morning, says (the woman who found it) . She describes the sight that met her and several other motorists in Indre Østfold on Sunday morning as strange and unpleasant. She says that she was so stressed by the sight that she turned around and drove back to see what it was. - I had watched crime series the night before, so I went straight into that mode, she says. Two other cars stopped with her and walked over to what they first thought was a person. - That's when I saw it was a doll without a head. Legs and arms were in the air, and only socks were on. It looked like the head had been cut off. It was uncomfortable, she says."

And he sheepishly admitted that he was listing off ingredients for either a sandwich or pasta dish (I don’t recall it entirely). It’s so fucking funny.
37:18 my father did this to both my mom and his side chick for ten years. Manipulated them both, tried to get people to think my mom was truly insane and locked up because of the whole scenario. He did end up with karma and his side piece finally left him after he left my mom after 40 years. He’s now miserable and they’re both better off. (And I’m much better off having not seen or spoken to him since I moved out ten years ago. ✌🏻)

My current partners ex wife wouldn't let me stay at his house or date him even though she was in a relationship before he was. It was insane to us that she was allowed to be public with her boyfriend but would condemn us for doing the same things she did. Control is such a weird thing.

as an adult i would go to the museum , ask to speak to a curator of that department. and then say "hey . so as a kid i took this. i was 7. i put it in a time capsule and then completely forgot about it. this year i opened the capsule and realized i clearly need to give this back. oops. my bad, sorry."

Please don’t ever stop doing these. I had a complete mental breakdown last night. Missing my grandparents where I was just sitting in the floor, sobbing uncontrollably. I’ve been having some health issues and I’m not getting support from friends or family and the only people who would’ve supported me if they were here where my grandparents. And today was a very depressing day and I was just not wanting to deal with the world at all today. But I watched this, and I laughed for the first time all day today. Thank you so much for this.
Having a shitty time too, so glad this ep came up. Keep taking care of yourself ❤
I can't imagine watching this solely as a podcast cause their expressions and physical humor really makes some stories even funnier
The mother in law cutting OPs hair simply because she had LUNCH with someone is absolutely wild. Like in what world does going to lunch = dating/affair??? And the husband immediately helping his mother do it??? Girlie, RUN!!
That is Henry VII levels of insane
She should have pressed multiple charges against that woman
I found the original post and thankfully it was confirmed to be fake!

I’d love to see an “update” episode where you guys go back to old stories that you’ve read in previous episodes and read any updates they have. I remember a lot of stories were left on “cliffhangers” and would love to know what ended up happening in some of them.
Yes, please!!!! So many have requested this and they did an “Update” episode, but it wasn’t their former stories throughout it. It was just stories WITH Updates.
I like the idea but do you think they should read the entire first story again or just the update and expect people to know?
that would be awesome omg
@@FrancisR420I wouldn’t say read the entire original story, but maybe just recap it? They could even be like “if you don’t remember this story, it’s in Smosh reddit episode whatever” to give viewers the chance to go back and look for it if they don’t remember
@@dimilton3166 Yeah, they did one with best of reddit updates, but that's it. Hopefully they read our comments and do an update check on previous stories
Definitely wish that was included.
And no one is mentioning the fact that he’s calling her a monkey.

It's the kind of day where I'm just refreshing youtube waiting for reddit stories.

Angela's confession is so right. I only WATCH Smosh. I too forget that stuff like reddit stories and smosh mouth are podcasts too. Idk what it is, but I have to watch all podcasts, not just smosh
I'm the same. I like the facial expressions and the camaraderie between guests. It also feels more like a "hangout with friends."
I struggle with audio podcasts too. I can do audiobooks, but not the riffing of podcasts. The visual, even in the background, helps keep me focused.
Same! Honestly, I wonder how many people listen to reddit stories without knowing they are comedians. I feel like that might be a harsh confusion at times?
Yeah obv I knew smosh growing up, but when it was bought and Anthony left I kinda stopped watching. I loved listening to reddit stories while cleaning (for my job) and only after a few months I realised Smosh reddit was THE smosh. Ever since I've watching/listening to all different smosh channels

That first story reminded me of how my uncle speaks to the family pug. He'll say 'who's an ugly monkey?' in the same tone most people would ask a dog 'who's a good girl/boy?' and this pug gets so happy at the attention 😂
The Egyptian one...dude better look over his shoulder for Brenden Fraser as Rick O'Connor running after him!! 🤣
The hair story is honestly one of my biggest fears ever. How you can be with someone for such a long time and trust them so much, and they will just violate you and ruin something important to you over something they believe in, despite it never being proven is just psychotic to me! I’m really sorry fir the OP, but I’m happy they’re moving on while also holding her abusers accountable
Don't worry, the story is fake. Literally 5 minutes after the first post that same account posted an AITA thread claiming to be an 18 year old woman with a boyfriend (not husband).
When I was a child I was at my cottage with all of my cousins and aunts and uncles and while I was sleeping someone cut a piece of my hair to about an inch long. Still don't know who did it
@@MaybeAnnatar that doesn't surprise me. Especially since the haircut thing is literally a plotline from I Know What You Did Last Summer lol

Nope!"
Imagine punishing the person that was giving it up. Sends a great message.
@@chunken117seriously. That's so dumb 😂
@@chunken117seriously. It sounds like the “drug talk” worked and a kid felt guilty for having a joint on him and gave it up. They should praise them for it instead of looking for someone to punish.
It's sad that some people would rather punish someone who did something "bad" rather than allow/help them to be better.
In an ideal world, when OP pressed charges against the insane MIL, she would have been able to say "Maybe now *you'll* think twice before humiliating your son and yourself" to MIL's face.
Shayne was spot on when he acknowledged how the mom is a danger to herself as well as others.
A Reddit theme I would like is “Exposed” and the stories are where someone/the other person finds it and tells the other side of the stories. Maybe it could also be the ones where a redditor does research and finds the real news story but that may be going too far
I really hope they see this because that would be super entertaining!!
Just... not the one where a man asks for relationship advice about his wife having an affair, and culminates in her killing their children and reddit absolutely thought it was fake until they found the articles. Most heartbreaking "update posts" ever.

33:50 Angelas analogy of comparing ancient ceramics with coffee mugs as our future artefacts is so genius. Its so true because there are some types of ancient ceramics that we have an ungodly amount of. Its like future archeoligists finding a million basic ass ikea coffee mugs, at some point you just have seen it all
You guys saying “someone’s driving right now” as i was pulling out my clients street to go home was insanely scary never do that again
I was driving to work and it freaked me out a little to lol

"- It looked like a young person had been tied up and laid in the ditch.
