  • In todays video I'm back out at Santa Ana River Lakes chasing those trout, but something happened that ultimately changed everything. The trout didn't seem to want to bite but I was able to find some tilapia that did. I will show you everything I know about these awesome fish, where to find them, how to rig fore them, and how to catch these hard fighting, good tasting fish. Lets see how I did.

    Nice video. The last time I fished with Rod was in the Sierras at Lake Crowley and South Lake. Our group had such a great time as we stayed at Parchers Resort. He still fishes? Haha!
    They stocked Lake Mission Viejo with tilapia before golden algae hit. Talk about over populating the lake! They are sure fun to catch when they get in the 4lb to 6lb range. The catfish like to eat the tilapia babies and talk about a ton of those! They sure like the nightcrawlers and it is he best way to catch them.
    Owner should start manufacturing mosquito hooks with a barb or two on them similar to a bait holder hook. The trout worms and minnows won't get fouled up on a bite. Can't tell ya how many times a micetail got fouled up using an Owner mosquito hook. With a barb or two just below the eyelet, the worm or minnow won't slide down the shank of the hook.

    So if trout don’t like to go out and search for your bait how would you go about fishing on days that are super crowded at Santa Ana river lakes where you can only be in one spot? Would you just keep jigging and hope the school comes to your location ?

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  Год назад

      I was talking about the tilapia not searching for your bait. The trout will. They swim back and forth at SARL mainly because there isnt much underwater structure. If its a busy day I stay in the spot I start at and try everything I know to get the trout to bite. At around lunch time lots of people start to leave so you can move around a bit if you want to 🤘

    I heard you say it was hard to hook up on a drop shot for the tilapia to bite what do you think about a Carolina rig for trying to catch tilapia using a minnow or Mouse tail

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  Год назад

      A carolina rig will work as I’ve seen guys catch them on powerbait but I think the bobber is probably more effective
