David Draiman... one of the best voices out there. You really can't hear what he can do with his voice unless you listen to this song. I've heard this version hundreds of times and every time, I get goosebumps. Its crazy powerful. My recommendation for next Disturbed song is 10,000 Fists. That is definitely more your style!
Simon & Garfunkle wrote and sang this song. Paul Simon has said that the Record Execs insisted that they sing the song the way it was first recorded. He said, after listening to David's version, that his was the way the song was meant to be sung. Quite a lot of respect from Paul Simon to David.
Suggestions: 1) The cover of "Zombie" by Bad Wolves (original by The Cranberries.) 2) The cover of "Stairway to Heaven" by Heart, performed at the Kennedy Center Honors. Led Zeppelin--the original artists--are in attendance, and the camera spends a lot of time showing their reactions. Jason Bonham, the drummer for Heart's performance, is the son of John Bonham, the drummer for Led Zeppelin, who died in 1980 (his death is the reason the band broke up.)
Watch his performance on the Conan O'Brian show! David had the flu and high fever so he was sitting down, but he still sang flawlessly! David was trained as a Jewish cantor but got into heavy metal! Simon and Garfunkel actually gave them a thumbs up to do this song because it put it in a totally different genre from theirs! Both songs will make you cry--this tells the story of how humans are so self-absorbed they forget about everything else and let the earth go to hell!
I am 78 years old, this song came out in 1964. It was the year I graduated from high school. Simon and Garfunkel produced and wrote the song, it quickly became my favorite. It quickly became my favorite, but it is more poetic and softly sung as a duet, I loved S&G they were my favorites. This is now my very favorite, almost an epiphany, powerful, emotional, yet hauntingly soft at the beginning. This guy is from Israel, he was a trained Jewish Cantor with some opera training. Yet, I almost feel this song was written for him to perform and him alone, no one could ever top it. It is a gift from God.
THank you so MUCH for not breaking into the song (except the one time) and letting us and YOU hear the song the way it's supposed to be heard! Simon and Garfunkel wrote and performed the song in the 1960s (I was in highschool at the time I first heard it). I've waited for decades, the song in the back of my mind as one of my favorites. And then I heard this cover. And learned that Paul Simon has it on his personal playlist and has said that this is the best cover there is out there. Remember, when you listen to the original, times were...different in the 1960s in the U.S. Very different. Simon and Garfunkel wanted to get the message out and sang it in a way that people would be able to hear it and, if they listened carefully, to understand it... I just wanted to say that... thank you again for listening, really listening to the song.
I kept wanting to say, Wait For It. I have contributed about 100 of those 900 million views. This is the best cover of all time. Runner up is Johnny Cash's cover of hurt. Another great cover is also by Disturbed (they include a cover on every album) sounds more like Down With the Sickness. It's called Land of Confusion. The original was a great song in It's own right, by Genesis. Disturbed took it to the next level.
STRONG EMOTIONAL SONG In Poland this song have additional meaning... we all know it because it was played as goodbye song for Paweł Adamowicz, president of Gdańsk city who was killed by crazy policical fanatic during biggest polish charity event WOŚP in 2019... R.I.P.
fascinating song and rendition! The original by Paul Simon (Simon and Garfunkel) was unbelievably iconic in the 60s...so it had a LOT of weight behind it already, but then this version blew up huge and Paul Simon even shouted David Drayman out on Twitter in approval and appreciating after he did it live on Conan O'Brien's show... you owe it to yourself to listen to the original as well even if you don't react to it...both are ASTOUNDING---GREAT REACT!!!!!
2:33 This song is such a classic (the original by Simon & Garfunkel is still a favorite song of mine but this one has taken over as the favorite version of the song.) The original was even sampled on Eminem’s “Darkness” (uses an interpolation, not the original as a sample.)
“The Sound of Silence” comes to a close with a warning, pointedly calling out the all-consuming consumerism and using those already lost to it as an example of what’s to come if we continue to find solace in the silence. A new generation has been introduced to the iconic song, but they also may have missed out on its meaning, one that is just as important if not more so today then it was six decades ago. "The sound of Silence" is and has been taking over everyday interactions in society. It's not often that we actually speak to one another. We text, we email. we post on Social Media etc. etc. interactions become all the more surface-level and indifference continues to grow. ~People talking without speaking ~People hearing without listening ~People writing songs that voices never share ~No one dared ~Disturb the sound of silence I love his voice. He nailed it big time. Paul Simon told him the song is his now. Simon shared in an interview with Playboy I used to go off in the bathroom, because the bathroom had tiles, so it was a slight echo chamber. I’d turn on the faucet so that water would run - I like that sound, it’s very soothing to me - and I’d play. In the dark. Hello, darkness, my old friend / I’ve come to talk with you again Simon pinned most of his songs in bathrooms.
I went to a concert with my grandson and his friends. They had no idea who this was. Well, as soon as the music started they knew. What was amazing was he came right into the crowd and sang directly to me. Bi have no word...I stay in the sounds of silence ❤
David Draiman does Not use auto tune. This is stated in multiple reaction videos by Professional Vocal Coaches. David is simply an outstandingly talented classically trained vocalist, a virtuoso of the very finest kind.
I've never enjoyed someone reacting to music so much! Absolutely obsessed with your reactions. I hope there will be more disturbed soon (The Game, The Animal, Voices would be my personal suggestions) Keep it up 🔥🔥🔥
Another great cover that surpasses the original would be Johnny Cash‘s cover of Nine Inch Nails “Hurt” - It would be awesome to see you do them back-to-back. Keep em coming 🤘
you should check out the version that they did live on the Conan show. It was amazing. It will blow your mind. He had the flu when he sang. But the proformance was amazing.
Welcome to the experience my friend. This isn't song. This isn't a cover. This is an experience, an event, something that transcends music into the human experience. I've heard this well over 1000 times, it gets me every single time. As for other mindbending covers, as others said Johny Cash doing Hurt by 9 inch nails. F***ing brilliant. I would also recommend Shinedown's Simple Man. Like the song you just listened to, it is one that originally fit the times by the original artist, now brought to the modern world with the angst, uncertainty, and rawness that your generation can - with all you've had to deal with - identify with.
I honestly cannot thank you enough for these videos; it’s comforting and beautiful to see your reaction to songs I’ve loved forever. You are my absolute favorite reaction YTer 🫶🏻
I know you get tons of suggestions and it takes time to go through them and react to them. Volbeat is a danish band with a huge catalog of music. Id love to see you react to Still Counting. They are a great band and this song will make you a Volbeat fan for sure.
You should also watch the Conan Show live performance of this song, it is magnificent. It was so good that Paul Simon, the songwriter, sent them a letter telling them how much he enjoyed it. He also promoted it on his social media, which is something he rarely does for a cover of one of his songs. They thought about doing a metal version of it but realized that going the other direction was the better choice, to honor one of the most iconic songs of the 60's. Draiman spent three hours in the sound booth, working out how he wanted to sing the song.
@@theOGnokk I like it better, because it preserves the more of the original melody. It is actually rather straight fwd but just inflamesified... ruclips.net/video/mBxlqbxyJwc/видео.html

I like this cover. His gravelly voice at the end was great. It is a very emotionally driven song. Goosebumps! 🤘🏼💋
MollyBoy: His voice is mad!
Me: just wait 😏
You feed my SOUL Kiddo. Im nearly done but youve got it all !!! Enjoy and have NO regrets Grab it xxxxx
PLEASE listen!!! Noone cares we stay silent and look where we are
A 22 yr old wrote this over 50 years ago !!!! Head F&^K xxxxx Peace xx
Simon & Garfunkle wrote and sang this song. Paul Simon has said that the Record Execs insisted that they sing the song the way it was first recorded. He said, after listening to David's version, that his was the way the song was meant to be sung. Quite a lot of respect from Paul Simon to David.
Suggestions: 1) The cover of "Zombie" by Bad Wolves (original by The Cranberries.)
2) The cover of "Stairway to Heaven" by Heart, performed at the Kennedy Center Honors.
I've listened to this version many times now and I get goosebumps every single time.
The emotion and message of this song is so powerful in both versions.
Third for me would be Bad Wolves cover of Zombie by The Cranberries.....
Heart, Stairway
@@dedfishermen985 you're not wrong.
@SotonCueMan part of what made the original so great was the context and experience of the band. They did a great job remaking it though.
I love the cover of Land of Confusion AND I love the original. What a comparison that would be! Please do it!
That look at 6:22... it says, "Aw, yeah, baby!"
STRONG EMOTIONAL SONG
In Poland this song have additional meaning... we all know it because it was played as goodbye song for Paweł Adamowicz, president of Gdańsk city who was killed by crazy policical fanatic during biggest polish charity event WOŚP in 2019... R.I.P.
Imo, the best cover song ever done. This one is fire!
fascinating song and rendition!
This is actually better than the original, and the original was great.
No, it isn't. The original is so vulnerable. But to each his own
@@StefanJohannesberg true
@@StefanJohannesberg I understand the significance of the original,it's not lost on me.
@@StefanJohannesberg Yes, it is by a mile.
Naw homie
Disturbed did a great cover of the Genesis song "Land of Confusion" worth a listen
There is an element that is so special about this song
Happy Holidays World 2024!! THIS!!!!!!.....✌️✌️✌️✌️🍻🥂😎✨
“The Sound of Silence” comes to a close with a warning, pointedly calling out the all-consuming consumerism
and using those already lost to it as an example of what’s to come if we continue to find solace in the silence.
A new generation has been introduced to the iconic song, but they also may have missed out on its meaning,
one that is just as important if not more so today then it was six decades ago.
"The sound of Silence" is and has been taking over everyday interactions in society. It's not often that we actually
speak to one another. We text, we email. we post on Social Media etc. etc. interactions become all the more
surface-level and indifference continues to grow.
~People talking without speaking
~People hearing without listening
~People writing songs that voices never share
~No one dared
~Disturb the sound of silence
I love his voice. He nailed it big time.
Paul Simon told him the song is his now.
Simon shared in an interview with Playboy
I used to go off in the bathroom, because the bathroom had tiles, so it was a slight echo chamber.
I’d turn on the faucet so that water would run - I like that sound, it’s very soothing to me -
and I’d play. In the dark.
Hello, darkness, my old friend / I’ve come to talk with you again
Simon pinned most of his songs in bathrooms.
I went to a concert with my grandson and his friends. They had no idea who this was. Well, as soon as the music started they knew. What was amazing was he came right into the crowd and sang directly to me. Bi have no word...I stay in the sounds of silence ❤
I love watching a reaction from a young person hearing this for the first time. It's moving and powerful.
David Draiman does Not use auto tune.
This is stated in multiple reaction videos by Professional Vocal Coaches.
David is simply an outstandingly talented classically trained vocalist, a virtuoso of the very finest kind.
Please listen to the original Simon & Garfunkel. It will blow you away. 8:00
I've never enjoyed someone reacting to music so much! Absolutely obsessed with your reactions. I hope there will be more disturbed soon (The Game, The Animal, Voices would be my personal suggestions)
Keep it up 🔥🔥🔥
Disturbed's cover of Land of Confusion is excellent. I saw them live earlier this year. They are amazing live.
Another amazing cover
Another great cover that surpasses the original would be Johnny Cash‘s cover of Nine Inch Nails “Hurt” - It would be awesome to see you do them back-to-back. Keep em coming 🤘
one of my top 10 all time faves, one of the best singers on earth!
This is one of the greatest songs ever I don't care, masterpiece
Man i cannot wait to see you react to this......its amazing
This version brings depth and meaning to an airy fairy song - and I get goosebumps every time I hear it!!
do the live Conan version - amazing. And then you learn he was ill when he did that performance.
Literally just came to the comments to find this one lol...facts 💯
you should check out the version that they did live on the Conan show.
Every time I hear this cover, I get goosebumps. Every. Single. Time. ❤️❤️
Live version on Conan is a MUST see!!
Land of confusion. 🔥
Now here is a disturbed cover I can get behind. Device cover of Wish is badass too. Device is Drainmans industrial side band
Yep much better cover than this. This was boring
meh, In Flames covered it better.
@@tubelious didn't know they did a cover of it. Disturbed does a good cover though. Made it their own
@@theOGnokk I like it better, because it preserves the more of the original melody. It is actually rather straight fwd but just inflamesified... ruclips.net/video/mBxlqbxyJwc/видео.html
I cry every time I hear this cover. GOAT
