A lot of people got more hours out of it bc on console there are achievements/trophies so people would at least finish the game, also you forgot about things like the acient hunts wich added more replayability than the tower, also your explanation of the tower is horrible, i'm not saying the tower is good but you make it sound like the woret thing ever, the point of not using your gear is to be like a roguelike, also most of the gear you use in the tower isn't that good so unless you are in early game it's below average
Dungeons is better than legends. I like the hordes themes and the designs of the Piglins in general. The cutscenes were great. The gameplay horrible. Mojang says you’re the hero even though the structures and mobs do all the work.
Oh easily. Here’s a quick list of things Minecraft Dungeons does right that Minecraft Legends doesn’t do: Good visuals. Good story. Fun gameplay. And like literally everything.
@@for4269 ehh, most people don't use mods - even with vanilla, the opportunities for creativity in building are massive I would say its openness to user-generated content as a whole is a more complete explanation for its continuing success (players like Phil and Etho can play for years on a single world and not run out of things to do, and for all Terraria's strengths, it doesn't do that nearly as well)
honestly, It would have only flatlined it. Though it could have done something absurdly neat.. it would never reach the scene minecraft sits at, for various reasons. (Mostly because limiting initial designs)
My favorite thing about Minecraft dungeons is the bug where a black box pops up on your screen and then it just perpetually loads. And the message on the bug tracker that says "We won't be fixing it, figure out how to fix the issue yourself" is the cherry on top.
Someone on reddit recommended going to the files and basically clearing any wandering files. So i went to the files and nothing was wrong, shits just busted
@@hocus101 I eventually got it to work by logging out and logging back into the launcher. Although, I have to do that everytime I want to play. Doesn't really matter to me anyways because I've done pretty much all there is in that game and I don't have any interest to play it again except for maybe nostalgia.
Honestly, the Heart of Ender would make a great third boss for Minecraft. They should slowly start incorporating content from the spinoffs into the main game (outside of mob vote)
Me and my dad would play this during covid. We would stay up all night grinding for new weapons, and we beat every dlc very quickly. It's sad to see how quickly the game died
It rains a lot where I live and I have two boys, and we would play this game for hours and laugh and have a blast playing it through many times to get better weapons and all kinds of stuff and finally realized we were just going to end up playing it over and over so we did until we set it down hoping that some sort of update would come and it never did… We talk about it often and realize maybe we shouldn’t of sold the game maybe just get a used one and play it every now and then just because it was so fun for us to play together. We wish they would make another one, but probably that’s too much to hope for…
@@JOERANSTRAIGHT my boy is only 3 right but loves this game lol I'm a ARPG nerd so this scratches the itch without having watch me play Diablo or Grimdawn 🤣🤣🤣
I miss the days when a game could come out, be played, MAYBE get DLC eventually, and then be done. Now suddenly if they stop being updated they're just dead and its treated as some horrible thing. If people _enjoyed the game_ then replaying it every once and a while should be enough. But nooo they had to add a battlepass. :/
The difference is that the Battle passes last forever and are functionally just another form of DLC. Any player that starts playing now can get all of the battle passes and progress them, its not time limited and FOMO inducing like live service games
Yeah, it's unfortunate. Abandoned is still a strong word imo, but they could've done so much more with it, or go out with a final bang instead of announcing the discontinuation after 8 months of silence.
MY BET is because Legendas and Dungeons will never beat the EPIC Minecraft Story mode... It lacks a season 3... WE will never have it... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaa
Glad I was helpful! Minecraft Dungeons was a very fun game. It had its weird quirks and that's what made it fun. There's no denying that it would've been something much greater had it received more updates, but sadly there are many things that come into play, such as time constraints and development costs. Nobody should blame the developers for not extending the game's lifespan any further than they already have, as that was not planned at all and they've already tried. From their perspective, it was complete, and that is completely understandable. I'll forever be sad about what it could've been though lol, because I genuinely think the game had a lot of potential. -Also I'll never understand why they took 8 months to announce the discontinuation of the game-
@@ChronorThe majority of the time it's an issue with the executives and their need for max profits and their disconnected ideas on how to achieve that, or it's related to a very toxic work environment/management. MC Dungeons likely falls into the former, although we won't be sure until the day we can access the full story.
This game reached it's natural cycle of development, and besides a few bugs there wasn't much they could have added tbh. I've played this game since launch and absolutely love it, and I still understand why they stopped updating it. Also, the game didn't really die, its growth just slowed. It had 10M players in 2022 and 23M when it was discontinued in 2023 if you need proof
They could have rebalanced apacalypse plus to make it more fair and make it so that mobs don't spawn directly on you, getting one shot like that should not be something that happens.
Should've added support for some sort of user generated content, user generated dungeons and maps and the like, that way they could wash their hand off it and let the community do whatever, same with modding aupport. Releases of this size don't tend to get abandoned without even bug fixes after just like 2-3 years.
@viralshark that doesn't impede for creating an API for players to add their own contents. You think each block was really handcrafted? This is not an indie studio with low budget. They most certainly had a level builder for it
@@nemesissombria Not necessarily in the way it seems like you're imagining. The way games like dungeons generate levels is by having a bunch of small hand-modeled prefabs being strung together into a full map using an algorithm. The levels still have to be designed to some extent through the prefabs, and they have to make sure that certain prefabs can't appear in certain locations otherwise it would break the whole game.
Sorry but there would be no incentive for people to make maps or unique content without compensation people would get bored of that there would be no drive or spike for people to return Microsoft is too greedy to do that, they'll never do that with mods Its why I prefer epic games for allowing their creators to earn from what they make, hell even csgo
Minceraft's dungeons might be dead... But the ost will *always* live on. Imo I think Minecraft dungeon's OST is easily better than minecraft's current (modern day OSTS) if you loved C418 or IDM or you're simply an Ambient music enjoyer in general I think every album is worth giving it a listen. The ost for a lot of the osts reminds me of retro Minecraft a lot, the themes make every single DLC/level feel *unique. Howling peaks makes use of the shepherd's tone, which is an audio illusion that creates an "ascending/descending" effect. Flames of the nether has savage almost tribal drums throughout the ost, or alien howling ambience. Echoing void is downright ALIEN unfamiliar, experimental, grating and uncomfortable to listen to, which in a funny way immerses you further as you explore the strange world of the end. Please give *all* of the OSTS a listen if you can, Peterhont is the absolute GOAT I guarantee you wont be disappointed.
I'm playing the game again after accidentally taking the game card from someone for a week (oops), and yeah soundtrack's great. I remember the early game ones perfectly, the loading screen music is incredible
Don't care, I play my favorite games regardless of updates, updates mean nothing to me, I hate modern gaming for brainwashing gamers to expect constant updates, its just an unrealistic expectation
17:55 Yeah, when I pre-ordered the game I had "Minecraft expectations". When I saw that the game was pretty short, I thought "They'll add more levels in the future (aside from DLCs)". I've had some fun with it for few months, thought the DLCs were kinda small, then pretty much got bored, and I didn't want to buy more DLCs. When some time later I saw the game was now on Steam and they had a package that greatly reduced the cost of DLC, I was kinda pissed, since it cost not that much more than what I paid for hero edition (Game + 2 DLCs).
Mc Dungeons is actually amazing. I find it infinitely replayable and fun cause of the insane stuff you can do. Massive dmg builds. Infinite hit speed. Ultra powerful soul builds. Its just fun to see big numbers appear really fast. Its honestly massively underrated Not even mentioning the enemy designs, dimensions, dlc and structures. Just look at the Redstone Monstrocity, its cool as f*ck. The Jungle Abomination, the End and Nether look awesome. It straight up feels like a fan game and not minecraft at all
i feel like minecraft dungeons is suffering from microsoft's conduct, as they're usually short-term focused and very live-service. I feel like this is mainly what caused the downfall of dungeons, as microsoft isn't really concerned with players wishes as long as the game is generating money. And when the game stops generating money, they simply move on to the next game.
I was wondering when you were gonna do a video on Minecraft Dungeons. Minecraft:Dungeons truly had a place in my heart as it was the first Minecraft spinoff I had played thanks to my girlfriend getting me the Hero Edition of the game. The game was quite fun playing through the main story and the two DLCs I had access to. It truly felt like a genuinely great game that I could see myself playing regularly. For me, I didn't feel the decline of the game until Cloudy Climb came out. It was at that point where it felt that the developers were losing interest on working on the game since updates were smaller and more sparse. The Tower was so bad when it came to replayability as the layout changed every 3 weeks and you got the same gear between each layout. It also didn't help that the game only added cosmetic items to get players to come back. Definitely did not work out. At least Fauna Faire added a good amount of content including a new free level and some new gear. Going through Treetop Tangle after playing the Tower was such a breath of fresh air. But the worst part of it all was the fact that Mojang went a year without updating the game before discontinuing it, killing all hope for Dungeons having a future. I can understand that Mojang was proud of what they accomplished and felt content with the state of the game but if that was truly the case, they should've announcned the discontinuation of the game way sooner. Minecraft Dungeons had a great run but this is not how things should have ended. At least you can still play the game which is better than the fate of other spinoffs, meaning we can revisit the game as a nice trip down memory lane. Might even do just that now that I've watched this video. And maybe some of you should do that too. Who knows?
@@questtoomzi played it every day back during corona and a bit after but doesnt it get kinda boring after u got max lvl and the best equipment with enchatment combos that make u basically invincible?
Honestly, I’m still playing the game and enjoying it! I play with another friend, I go to the tower to farm cool items, etc... I currently have a complete level 263 stuff and I'm preparing for the apocalypse +25 to finish the game but I think that even after that I will continue to love this wonderful spin off 😁
loved dungeons, one thing i don't think was mentioned is the towers initial release included a gamebreaking exploit, it included quitting during the tower at points which would cause it to consider more floors than you actually completed. since the rewards scaled with floor count and were essentially uncapped, it was a disaster.
I was really excited for this game prerelease, but after some time it became apparent how shallow the combat was. Some weapons and enchantments were clearly stronger than others, and late game there weren't many builds that were viable outside of the strongest combinations. It really sucked cause I was hoping there would be more room for diverse builds to succeed, considered overall it's based on Minecraft, a game known for letting the players express themselves. Also, the levels themselves weren't super replayable, with the crypt level showing promise for what could have been done with the random terrain generation, but the other levels were just a series of recognizable rooms and structures strung together. Surprised it was that bland for being based on a game, again, known for its infinite, variable, unique world generation. The later-added Ancient Hunts did use more unique terrain generation though, which I did enjoy. Unfortunately not enough for the base game.
Imagine if this game had a pvp where you could bring your gear, but everyone would be capped at like 50 power level with a game mode where you have to capture objectives and defend them from other players kinda like domination cod i feel like something like that would be supper fun
I actually found Minecraft dungeons fun being able to upgrade my weapons and go through the different levels with my gear, until I got to the final mission and that was it for the "main quest" which I found a bit short and you had to pay for dlc to play the other storylines.
Something that should also be said in this context is that as far as I'm aware, this was the whole dev team's first go at a diablo style game and for that, I'd say it turned out really quite well. Obviously, there is a lot broadly flawed, like the scaling of statistics (especially once the difficulty levels were over extended beyond Apocalypse 7), ranged weapons being so bad you are better off using them for passive enchantments, movement feeling clunky at times, enemies being on the simple damage sponge side of things, healing being way too scarce (healing enchantments are basically mandatory in any build), the story being short and the loot grind being largely unsatisfying. However, there are also quite a lot of interesting ideas in there that I hope see reuse elsewhere, namely the many new kinds of enchantments, the whole idea of souls used as mana, the variety in gear design (especially for melee weapons), the new enemy designs, the wind mechanisms of howling peaks, the expansion of the end from echoing void, just the new block designs in the environment, the style of mob and player animations, and so on.
I played through the game and I enjoyed it, I didn’t care for the story after awhile and it became repetitive, I couldn’t bother to complete it due to the fact I just didn’t care about it lol 😭
Calling it abandoned is a bit weird, like it’s not really the kind of game to need constant updates. And it definitely didn’t fail as it sold very well and has lots of good reviews. Just because less people are playing it at the moment doesn’t make it a bad game. I think I had a good experience playing it as well
As a person who had beaten the game all 3 times and beaten every level on apocalypse +25 (max difficulty) it was really fun grinding and finding and beating every secret level, the issue that u stated earlier about people not replaying the game is really sad because i remember progressing which was really fun and it really can get very difficult on the higher levels of apocalypse if you didnt find the best gear that works well with your build and i remember getting a godroll on a unique armor piece but i quit when the season 1 of tower was revealed and when i came back i accidentally deleted my account and since i was playing on the nintendo it wasnt recoverable. great video tho
If you have a Microsoft account you should have your characters saved, even after deleting save on switch. I know because well I did it except intentionally because me stupid not sure if it needs nso tho
Had dungeon when it came out too, even finished the main story before the tower got added. The tower makes sense and I don't see much of a problem with it, you receive the most basic gear to survive the tower levels, upgrade or get new gear as you climb the tower, and leave with a piece of upgraded gear should you win it... That's sounds fun! It is fun!
@@mathewhosier9739 No, the DLC I'm fine with. The paid season pass with no new content for years, That's what has me mildly perturbed. It's still a GOOD GAME even with that and well worth the thirty-something even with the DLC cost, it's just that they basically abandoned it and added the paid season emotes and cosmetics.
I wish they would have at least let added a map editor / allowing you to port your mc worlds, imagine playing on the fallen kingdom world in mc dungeons
I remember watching the first trailer and I was super hyped about the game and after a sort of long wait it finally released and bought it right away. I really enjoyed the game but they seemed to not listen the community. It was good that they added new shops and the gift system as well as giving the blacksmith a rework and the storage chest but they could’ve done that earlier. It had so much potential but then didn’t see it I guess. I rarely play it now as I’m completely maxed, got all the dlcs, hero edition, etc.
It seems like it was a similar problem to Legends, a cool concept with a lack of Depth and Nuance, preventing players from staying engaged for more than a couple of sessions.
You people really need to stop using words like "abandoned". Not every game is meant to be a continuous dripfeed of content. Why people have normalised this practice is beyond me. You can't even blame developers for enabling it because they serve supply and demand. A game can have multiple updates and years of support, and people feel like they're entitled to more and that the game should keep growing. It's not healthy. Games used to be one and done, and majority of them still are, and that's totally OK. It's not a big deal. Those commenters at the end are honestly ridiculous and read as though they don't understand a thing about game dev or even creative passions, for that matter. On this matter, your content constantly exaggerates trivial things for clicks. Don't get me wrong, you make well-produced content with good script, research, narration and editing, absolutely. But it's kinda irritating to see videos make a big deal out of inconsequential things like a game not receiving more updates lol. The great "untold truth" is literally that they stopped working on it. Current title makes this video come off as unnecessary bloat content. Calling this video an analysis might be a better representation of the subject matter and video content. I do want to be constructive and not just mindless, but the way you present your content (and I suppose the way you're FORCED to present your content) just isn't for me.
The developers said it themselves. They never intended it to be a 'live service' style game. The game having way more success than they expected paired with the emotional whiplash from the negative feedback didn't help either. I don't agree that it was abandoned, they're still trying to sucker new people into buying it. But as far as generating new content and updates. The game is dead. And in that announcement from the developers, they pretty much put the final nail in the coffin.
I loved Minecraft dungeons for a while, until it started to get boring, as the Genre (beat em ups for kids) was starting to get oversaturated. Although it is sad how it ended. The end portal bit near the end was cool, and thats when i started getting back in to it, and then it just stopping was disappointing
Mojang keeps having a tendency of “Baby’s First [game genre]” for their spin-offs, which I personally cannot keep playing since they feel so barebones compared to the “real deals” like Diablo, in Dungeon’s case. If Mojang would go a bit more deep with these spin-offs, I would imagine players would stick around since there’s a lot more depth
I got Dungeons basically at launch on my Xbox and loved it to death. I still play and enjoy it to this day. I'm willing to admit that I may have spent way more money than I should have for all the DLCs, but I don't care. It's sad to see it stop getting updates, but it will always remain to be one of my favorite games.
To this day i still play Minecraft Dungeons, its still pretty fun tbh even tho its a little repetitive after a while, level 956 rn. I like the mechanics, Minecraft Legends tbh wasn't the best, i tried it out and i didn't find much fun playing it. I feel like they dropped the new stuff over time just to rake in more money. Ive beaten every dlc. Yes and i was stupid enough to buy more DLC's. In my opinion. Theres two Developer teams that now have something in common, Activision - Greed Mojang - Greed
Hi and hello internauts, although I think TheMisterEpic didn't want to do anything wrong this video has some mistakes that are too big to brush off. I have put a link to a video which corrects these misconceptions. There are english subtibtles avaible and the person who made it is a Minecraft Dungeons veteran & pro. Like, trust me when I say he knows the stuff. ruclips.net/video/OYJEsdsZtNE/видео.html I hope you enjoy watching.
Bugs is what turned me away from Dungeons. I remember buying it, starting to play, and getting stuck in terrain near the end of first level - forcing restart of the whole level. I tried second time, got to second level and again got stuck in terrain. Gave up after that.
Yeah, I dont get the issue. It released as a full game, loads of additional content was added on top, what more do you need? I hate the attitude that every game needs to be updated with new content for eternity. The game wasn't abandoned, it didn't dissapear, it was finished and is still available for purchase.
I used to love this game, I played it almost every day when I was younger, and when the Tower update was released, I was so disappointed I quit the game around that time. It's a shame, the game had so much potential
The Tower was also extremely easily exploitable, if I recall correctly, you had to exit after the last boss and reenter, which would let you level the tower rewards to an absurd level, it also didn't help that you could (for free) reroll the rewards also through an exploit. So obtaining any OP item was so easy to do that no item was ever truly rare or the best anymore.
abandoned? this was not the kind of game that needed updates, it was a narrative based adventure game. they supported it for a shocking amount of time actually
Yeah it not having a huge active player base doesn’t make it a bad game, and while it may not have the largest amount of content it’s still usually around twenty dollars cheaper than the average AAA game for the complete edition. This video is making it seem a lot worse than it really is.
Agreed, not every game needs to be a live service. I just picked the game up, works well, all the DLC was included in the buy in proce for Hero Mode. It's a feature complete game.
I think Dungeons could have had 1 more large update to rebalance, optimize, bug fix, etc, with maybe one more game mode/system for endgame players; however I'm glad that the game's support did eventually end. I'm so tired of everyone thinking that every game needs to last forever. Growing up playing games on consoles from the NES to the Xbox, I much prefer being able to buy a game that's complete.
"I'm so tired of everyone thinking that every game needs to last forever" this hits the nail on the head. The game works well as a single player or co-op dungeon crawler. It doesnt need endless updates and DLC, it's feature complete. The irony is that in it's current state it can last forever. I am still playing a lot of games from my childhood 20 years later. If a game is good and has replay value then just keep playing it.
I never saw minecraft dungeons as much of a continuesly updating game. I liked the dlc we got but eventuality the game is done. You can still have fun playing it just like any other game that gets no more updates/DLC. I see the main game minecraft as the exception because of it's evergreen status and i think spin offs don't really need to try to replicate that same kind if model. Its fine when a game just releases and is just done, bonus content is nice but shouldn't be expected.
Voicing an opinion can show anger yes but blaming it all on devs who follow instructions from higher ups, especially by calling them names or suggesting that they don't listen, is quite toxic belive it or not. By your standards toxic is dancing on someone in fortnite
@Bubbsmc You cannot equate his discomfort of the word toxic being used the way it was to an action in a game. He never brought up Fortnite or implied anything of that nature to be the case, it's a false equivalency.
@@absolutelyscrumptious7552 it's is metaphorical ? An easy way to show people what you mean, don't take it to heart and don't forget this happened ages ago, it's long forgotten now
Still play the game to this date. Played it when it was barebones with the lack of merchants, no tower, and one dlc out at the time. Came back to it after I heard it had been abandoned, and wish this had been the version that came out at launch and that it was still being supported. Game has a lot of potential and I would've loved a 2.0 or a sequel game. Mechanics and music are great, weapons fit in well, and the tower runs are challenging, but not overbearing compared to the main missions which are only difficult due to the amount of health and the amount of mobs present.
Lets be honest here, people don't play Minecraft for the branding. People play it for the gameplay. Minecraft taking any other kind of genre is just never going to work.
Mojang has released non Minecraft IP, it's just not popular. Also Dungeons is a great companion to the main game, just with more focus on the combat aspect (which tbh the main game doesn't do very well)
@BryanLu0 because they never marketed it. They never trued to push the other IPs forward. They thought it would be as successful as Minecraft, but truth is, MC is a deviation.
Seeing the community for this game being honest with themselves is a breath of fresh air. Some communities like tarkov don't admit when things are getting unfun and stale and prioritise their income over the community and will not move on to better things. Its not common to see a youtuber/streamer admit their speculative views and efforts to hype their own audience fell short and that its better for a change of perspective. I may not have enjoyed minecraft dungeons at all but seeing the community standing up for themselves and not fighting amongst themselves is amazing to see.
4 am at the time had listed everything that could be done to fix this problem, he had brought back the plates and Mojang were just too lazy to help themselves at that point. The sad thing is the laziness from Mojang is just shown in everything they do (other than this years April fools snapshot) and I am willing to argue for my point
I don’t understand the “Minecraft dungeons is too short” argument. I don’t see the missions as levels to complete. It’s more like selecting a map each with their own enemies and rewards. I have no problem whatsoever with replaying maps I’ve already played to find gear you can only find in that specific map. Plus there are a bunch of secret missions to find as well and with all of those I found I had more than enough variety to level up to the maximum level without ever buying any dlc.
I remember this game so fondly, my friend and I managed to beat the final boss on apocalypse difficulty in the top 5% for achievements at the time. It was so fun. It really sucks to see it abandoned in favour of MC Legends by the devs :(
Another big complaint I had with this game was that all data was stored client-side initially, so after spending 100 hours on my playthrough, when I got a new PC I lost all my progress and all motivation to continue playing
@@cjspy it’s not something it does by default, you make your own cloud save and then download it from another device. Can’t blame the game for this, only you tbh.

@@theatomicparticle says the guy complaining about a worse Diablo getting scrapped for things he doesn’t like (which tbf I don’t like either but I didn’t like dungeons as well)
Honestly, 'Minecraft Dungeons' problem is .. 'Minecraft'. Where Minecraft can cope with an excessively limited 'NPC variants' and mobs that repeat till the end of the universe, with randomness as factors with some controlls on that randomness (say in terms of player interactions like trading, etc) it is a game made to build &tap into a creative spark, and has been proven to be 'restrictive' enough to spawn other games via modes, and even spark new games entirely from it, ontop of it's `engine`. The thing with Minecraft dungeons is It couldn't really to tooooo far off the rails from Minecraft in terms of mobs, designs of levels, gear, etc. It also ditched the 'endless' parts of minecraft that was the taps of creativity itself and had forgone any sort of meta game built ontop of it, along with really being just not worth it (or really possible) to build even meta games ontop of it. The way that Minecraft dungeons was structured .. is a mobile dungeon crawler, that's star & power based, with literally zero reason for any sentimental attachments or 'real' reasons to replay, or mods to change or even tweak the 'vanilla' experience, much less be able to add your own thing to it if you really wanted to. It's not a 'bad' game, but it is a badly done game, of which that misused a game driven towards endless & powered by it for a limited life span of a game without the ability to roll out new things entirely unique to it and handled the 'progression' ... basically with numbers. They used an endless spirt to fuel a finite game.
fr , agreed , it didnt feel like Diablo , it feel like NK Merlok 2.0 V2 . all 3 enjoyable , but mobile games are more simple and sometimes repetitive . Merlok 2.0 is the kind of game i think is mobile gaming . no adds , microtranzaction are made smart , and avoidable .
@@gregritferdjr what bugs? I’ve never dealt with bugs? Every game has bugs. Is Mario 64 an abandoned game because you can glitch through levels to speed run it? Is red dead redemption 1 abandoned? Cause there’s a lot of bugs remaining there too! No. These are finished games. Completed.
@@slateskin says the destiny player... Look, I know what it's like to be conditioned to think that all games are to be constantly updated and fishing for your wallet. But y'know, a game like this was actually finished. Yeah, a finished product will have bugs, everything has bugs finished or not. Just accept it and move on.
I remember my biggest issue with Dungeons when I played it at launch was that there wasn't any random matchmaking whatsoever (or still isn't or will be, I guess, idk). I wanted to grind out the game with multiplayer because I didn't find it incredibly fun single player wise but my options were trying to get my friends to buy the 6 hour game at full price at launch or going and begging people online to add me so we could play once and then never again. I ended up just playing each level once, then never touched it again which is a shame because I really liked the idea of grinding stuff with other people. Thought the content updates after the DLC's might've picked the game back up but I never checked for myself, and clearly they didn't. So close to something I could've loved.
They refresh the tower ever so often now, so new gear is available and new floors too. The reason the gear doesn’t change often is because they want you to develop a strategy to beat the tower over and over again. I did just that and beat it 5 times across the span of 2 and a half hours. However, one thing that really does bother me is that it is quite literally almost impossible to beat the Tower in Apocalypse mode. The gear selections are supposed to be scaled up to your difficulty, but when you enter Adventure/Apocalypse mode the gear is seemingly downgraded, and if you refuse to consistently upgrade your armor, you will fall behind and die to 4 hits from a skeleton. Now, Adventure mode is very much possible, I’ve done it before. Apocalypse mode IS doable, it’s just the ratio of damage that even just a zombie does compared to yours. A regular zombie in apocalypse mode does approximately 210+ damage, which is well over the damage your first Jailor Scythe will do. And if we were to scale the zombie up to floor 29, it has the potential to do 400 DAMAGE. And while the rewards are absolutely amazing, the setback of having imbalanced gear is horrific. Oh, and let’s not forget that the random boss for the tower that day can be extremely overpowered or extremely weak.
I'm pretty sure minecraft dungeons IS the sequel as the arcade game potentially takes place before it Evidence to this is that you can find the final boss from the arcade game sometimes generate as a structure in obsidian pinnacle This structure reveals that it is under repair but of course it's the final level so it never gets repaired odd tho as the missing arm is on the other side
@@jungleboggedTechnically the DLC's are the 3rd part but they were also supposed to be part of the main game originally so we might have had to do them up in order at one point giving us an actual story from those levels So like pretty much the entire story is already in 3 parts
The thing that turned me off from the game is the rng to get good items. I played over 100 hours trying to the perfect fighters bindings and it was just all crap. I stopped playing and didn't come back. If there was an actually way of getting items you want for an end goal I would have played the rest of the DLC's (that I wasted my money on) and would have played this game for a LONG time with the satisfactory of having 1 of every weapon and perfect gear and lots of emeralds and gold. I don't mind grinding but if it's just rng, why even play, just hack and get the best thing in the game, doesn't make a difference, just saves time. Some people get it first try, some first hour, some not even 200 hours, there's just no point to keep playing.
I loved Minecraft dungeon, me and my dad used to do it on the weekends. It was the best I was waiting for at least 2 years waiting for the update until I found out that MCD was discontinued/abandoned last month which made me really sad
They are all surprised like "why are our spinoffs so poorly received?" Like, huh, I wonder, maybe sticking to only one universe is boring for people, especially when the first main game is supposed to be everything. And yet, they don't ever consider making something else, something not Minecraft at all. For a cube game, they think constrictingly on one axis, on the inside of the box, there is only a two dimensional square, afraid of the other ways to do things, stuck on one possible axis set in motion. That is the problem with mojang. Edit: the problem isn't their ideas, it's just that it's all Minecraft related.
MY BET is because Legendas and Dungeons will never beat the EPIC Minecraft Story mode... It lacks a season 3... WE will never have it... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaa
Dungeons had so muc potential ... more dungeons , more modes like pvp after a dungeon , normal pvp 1v1, 2v2 , free for all Online matches against people Race tracks or levels with actual speedrun strats Imagine a moba game with minecraft dungeons combat and items ... just a thought😂 But the game itself was great and still is fun today with local coop ... but it could have been so much better
they were some mods in minecraft dungeons, but not a lot and very difficult to install and you had to start the game manually instead of though a launcher. But they're only 4 mods I know of which were: changing the lobby into a spruce biome, having the face a dozen ancient mobs of your choice to get more gear, changing your skin to your minecraft skin, and changing the winter fox skin to a normal fox skin. Idk if these mods still work anymore or if they were ever updated? And am certain there were more mods then what I pointed out, all these mods I learned from 4AM who was probably the only RUclipsr who actively made videos on Minecraft dungeons if they were any new content for Minecraft Dungeons.
I remember being super excited about the Season Passes I bought all 3 and was really excited to get all of the rewards that were available. One thing that was great about them was that when a new one came out you could still get the rewards from the old ones but It took FOREVER to level up and get the rewards. This is the main reason why I quit Minecraft Dungeons but after watching this video I feel like getting back into Minecraft Dungeons cuz I think it’s a great game and we can all agree it’s WAY BETTER than Legends!!!
To be honest I loved Minecraft dungeons till this day. I first got the normal version on Xbox one then 2 years later I downloaded the pc version with the ultimate edition. it was awesome + I'm still grinding till this day. even though I'm on the apocalypse difficulty, there's a lot this game has to offer for e.g. i'm stuck grinding for the fighter's bindings. it was really successful, and I still play the local multiplayer version with my cousin on my Xbox. Even his reply was that the game needs to go on! He loved it so much and when we were children, he was the first person to take a seat when we were playing. I wish they didn't abandon it because it was so popular! Like 23 or 24 million players when the fauna faire update released.
17:33 I assume when mark says “single player ds game” he’s referring to the Nintendo 3DS cause if he means the original ds then Minecraft more just got a whole lot more crazy
That or originally it wasn’t supposed to be Minecraft themed and that was added later, but still that’s a long time to be developing a game if it came out in 2020
@@TheDerpyDolphin The 3DS was still being supported until around that time. What's more confusing is that it definitely had some issues on Switch. It wasn't terrible (though I don't know how it became later) but how do you screw up porting a 3DS game to the Switch? That just makes it sound like a lie. Especially if they don't even understand the difference between the DS and 3DS.
@@RunicSigils honestly if it was legit being developed for the Nintendo 3DS i'd be really impressed at how it could even run, if it was for the DS then well props to Double Eleven for somehow developing this game for a nearly 20 year old console
Honestly, I wish they would port stuff from dungeons to regular minecraft. There are so many cool looking blocks, mobs, plants, and a bunch of other stuff I'd love to use in my creative world. If I knew how to code or mod, I would totally create a mod which is just a lot of the dungeon stuff as a resource pack.
Minecraft dungeons is insanely good People just overhate it because they have no taste on the other hand minecraft legends is also good but it lacks gameplay minecraft legends is actually a very very good and fun concept but the execution was kind of horrible
it’s a dungeon crawler type game, there wasn’t an end game activity like most dungeon crawlers, i played so much of mc dungeons as it was a more casual dungeon crawler it made a nice change for me to play with my friends who didn’t like the idea of grinding so much in traditional dungeon crawlers like diablo. it was and still is a very good causal dungeon crawler, there’s not too much depth to the game so it’s very easy to get into. sadly dungeon crawlers are trying to go live service with battle passes and well diablo 4 was a prime example of how you don’t do live service dungeon crawler, hopefully the dungeon crawler genre can make a big come back with something new and engaging for new and old dungeon crawler enjoyers.
As the lead moderator of the game’s subreddit, it was an honor to hold an active role in the community in its prime. It’s still a very active community, but it will never be what it once was.
I want to play it but I don’t have steam, however I’ve seen some play on Xbox- and I came here to ask if it’s worth the money as well, since I only ever heard the names “Minecraft dungeons” and “Minecraft legends” but never actually seen anything of them.
I had the DLCs, 185 hours in the game, but since I was on switch , I couldn't use the Tower without another subscription, and 85 of the 185 hours were spent grinding for 1 item. This game really fell from glory
Fuck Dungeons. It was full of content that Minecraft itself should have had. Dungeons offered nothing new to its genre, took attention and features away from actual Minecraft, and I'm glad it's dead.
In general, I think Dungeons has some great Bosses. But it's a shame that the developers never followed through. There are too many bugs and flaws left in the game to consider it complete. Although already now some people are making videos about the fact that the ending of the game was pre-planned and that they added everything they wanted to it. But I know such people are lying, and there is proof of that. I've heard so many things that the Dungeons developers themselves wanted to add to the game and that they didn't have the capacity for much. Apparently their bosses just didn't want to continue with this project. I'm glad that this game project has such a strong and creative legacy. Many fans of the theme are inspired by Dungeons and create something new, sometimes really interesting and heartily thought out. Truly, it is more than deserved! Mojang's best and most successful project, among all the things they've created since Notch left. They've never come up with anything better than this. And even the new update of the original Minecraft, it's a reincarnation of Dungeons itself inside the classic Marcus Person sandbox.

It's not the worst battlepass out there. There are way more scummy battlepasses in other games.
The thing is that they constantly update the game over and over, people had different expectations

Should've added support for some sort of user generated content, user generated dungeons and maps and the like, that way they could wash their hand off it and let the community do whatever, same with modding aupport. Releases of this size don't tend to get abandoned without even bug fixes after just like 2-3 years.
I’ve never played dungeons but maybe a good idea would be player-made community levels, short challenges that people could make and share for free.
would be cool but the levels arent simply built from minecraft blocks, they are very handcrafted with only minor levels of variation

The ost for a lot of the osts reminds me of retro Minecraft a lot, the themes make every single DLC/level feel *unique.
Howling peaks makes use of the shepherd's tone, which is an audio illusion that creates an "ascending/descending" effect.

Facts
i feel like minecraft dungeons is suffering from microsoft's conduct, as they're usually short-term focused and very live-service.
Who knows?

I loved Minecraft Dungeons so much. I really hope they bring in a bunch of stuff from it to regular Minecraft.
On god bro
i mean Dungeons isn't really a game that is built to be constantly updated like Minecraft? I'm surprised it got the amount of DLC it did
loved dungeons, one thing i don't think was mentioned is the towers initial release included a gamebreaking exploit, it included quitting during the tower at points which would cause it to consider more floors than you actually completed. since the rewards scaled with floor count and were essentially uncapped, it was a disaster.
Minecraft dungeons lasted 3 years, That's more than Minecraft Legends lasted 😂😂😂
Well it's support lasted for 3 years, the game itself is still alive and well
Imagine if this game had a pvp where you could bring your gear, but everyone would be capped at like 50 power level with a game mode where you have to capture objectives and defend them from other players kinda like domination cod i feel like something like that would be supper fun
Let me guess, it was abandoned for legends than then failed

Let’s fight to bring it back… as long as we keep making content on it and have an active community, it’ll bring it back
I loved Minecraft dungeons for a while, until it started to get boring, as the Genre (beat em ups for kids) was starting to get oversaturated. Although it is sad how it ended. The end portal bit near the end was cool, and thats when i started getting back in to it, and then it just stopping was disappointing
yeah i feel like the only beat em up that really is playable forever is binding of issac
Poor guy
Mojang keeps having a tendency of “Baby’s First [game genre]” for their spin-offs, which I personally cannot keep playing since they feel so barebones compared to the “real deals” like Diablo, in Dungeon’s case. If Mojang would go a bit more deep with these spin-offs, I would imagine players would stick around since there’s a lot more depth
It's still one of my favorite games. I love it
not every game has to be a live service fyi.... those who expect this are part of the problem. it is why you will continue to be disappointed.
Theres two Developer teams that now have something in common,
Activision - Greed
Mojang - Greed
Hi and hello internauts, although I think TheMisterEpic didn't want to do anything wrong this video has some mistakes that are too big to brush off.
I have put a link to a video which corrects these misconceptions. There are english subtibtles avaible and the person who made it is a Minecraft Dungeons veteran & pro. Like, trust me when I say he knows the stuff.
ruclips.net/video/OYJEsdsZtNE/видео.html
I hope you enjoy watching.
Bugs is what turned me away from Dungeons. I remember buying it, starting to play, and getting stuck in terrain near the end of first level - forcing restart of the whole level. I tried second time, got to second level and again got stuck in terrain. Gave up after that.
I've never experienced a bug
Bruh not every game needs infinite updates, MC dungeons is content complete and very good
Yeah, I dont get the issue. It released as a full game, loads of additional content was added on top, what more do you need? I hate the attitude that every game needs to be updated with new content for eternity. The game wasn't abandoned, it didn't dissapear, it was finished and is still available for purchase.
I still play Dungeons even today, knowing that it will never get another update.
Minecraft Dungeons really did deserve better. It was such a good game
I used to love this game, I played it almost every day when I was younger, and when the Tower update was released, I was so disappointed I quit the game around that time. It's a shame, the game had so much potential
When you were younger? its only four years old, you make it sound like its 20! (Not to be taken rudely, im just saying how i interpreted it)
@@ArguedBinkie no way it's four years old, it feels like a lot longer, that's craazy. I didn't realize it was so recent lol
When you were younger? its a 4 year old game, not a 24 year old game lol
Interesting video, but your use of the word "toxic" irritated me. People vetting their frustrations isn't "toxic".
You mean venting???
There's a verry fine line between voicing opinions with an angry tone and toxicity.
Exactly but the name "minecraft" is bound to draw people in. That's probably the only reason why they didn't made this a new ip
It could have worked with Dungeons, but they fricked it up
Minecraft dungeon is still a great entry into that genre
Minecraft dungeons was amazing dude it is like Diablo if it was fun
4 am at the time had listed everything that could be done to fix this problem, he had brought back the plates and Mojang were just too lazy to help themselves at that point. The sad thing is the laziness from Mojang is just shown in everything they do (other than this years April fools snapshot) and I am willing to argue for my point
Im still playing minecraft dungeons, and im not planning to stop. Mojang has to start working on it again
Dungeons was for sure the best mc spinoff mojang has ever made
16:21 this is the part most or all of you came for, saved ya some time.
"Minecraft Dungeons is considered to be the most successful Minecraft spin-off"
Story Mode has left the chat
I still tear up over that darn pig!
I remember this game so fondly, my friend and I managed to beat the final boss on apocalypse difficulty in the top 5% for achievements at the time. It was so fun. It really sucks to see it abandoned in favour of MC Legends by the devs :(
Another big complaint I had with this game was that all data was stored client-side initially, so after spending 100 hours on my playthrough, when I got a new PC I lost all my progress and all motivation to continue playing
yeah my switch got stolen lost hours of work just got back into the game now 2 years later
Cloud saves…
@@jakeplayzyt5220 wasnt a thing when i started, or at least it wasn't the default option
@@cjspy it’s not something it does by default, you make your own cloud save and then download it from another device. Can’t blame the game for this, only you tbh.
@@jakeplayzyt5220 every modern day triple game has built in cloud save support. i shouldn't have to go into the game files and save them to the cloud manually. Even steam has cloud saving on games made 30+ years ago. Mojang is just heavily lacking in this basic game feature and its ok to admit that
This died for MC Legends and the disgusting Minecraft Movie, never forget what Microsoft took from us. ✊
Id let them have mc dungeons if we could buy story mode again
@@DeathByAnvil Nah. MC Dungeons was superior and had a ton of potential. It’s time to take off the nostalgia tinted glasses.

Merlok 2.0 is the kind of game i think is mobile gaming . no adds , microtranzaction are made smart , and avoidable .
oh man. i LOVED MINECRAFT DUNGEONS. i always did since 2020.
i never hated it and i wish it would come back.
The game wasn’t abandoned, it was finished
Leaving several bugs in means abandoned
they couldnt fix it@@gregritferdjr
@@gregritferdjr what bugs? I’ve never dealt with bugs? Every game has bugs. Is Mario 64 an abandoned game because you can glitch through levels to speed run it? Is red dead redemption 1 abandoned? Cause there’s a lot of bugs remaining there too! No. These are finished games. Completed.
But mojang should've atleast added better modding capabilities, or replayable content/community made content.
Meanwhile terraria getting it’s 10th final update😂😂😂
And now we need to wait and hope for a second part. Imagine Minecraft Dungeons 2
I'm pretty sure minecraft dungeons IS the sequel as the arcade game potentially takes place before it
Evidence to this is that you can find the final boss from the arcade game sometimes generate as a structure in obsidian pinnacle
This structure reveals that it is under repair but of course it's the final level so it never gets repaired
odd tho as the missing arm is on the other side

I still grind Minecraft Dungeons trying to get all the unique weapons/bows (legendary) in the game
yeah same it's fun!
I loved Minecraft dungeon, me and my dad used to do it on the weekends. It was the best
I was waiting for at least 2 years waiting for the update until I found out that MCD was discontinued/abandoned last month which made me really sad
They have tried that before with little to no success
Minecraft Dungeons was (sorta) like a sandbox with its customisable gear
25 million players isn't exactly poor reception, that's more than half of one Terraria
MY BET is because Legendas and Dungeons will never beat the EPIC Minecraft Story mode... It lacks a season 3... WE will never have it... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaa
I'm sure they're at the mercy of Microsoft when it comes to making new games, and they likely see it as too big a risk to branch out into new IPs.
Dungeons had so muc potential ... more dungeons , more modes like pvp after a dungeon , normal pvp 1v1, 2v2 , free for all
Online matches against people
Race tracks or levels with actual speedrun strats
Imagine a moba game with minecraft dungeons combat and items ... just a thought😂
But the game itself was great and still is fun today with local coop ... but it could have been so much better
they were some mods in minecraft dungeons, but not a lot and very difficult to install and you had to start the game manually instead of though a launcher.
MC Dungeons is better than Diablo its so fun. The passes have no fomo?! THANK GOD!
They couldn’t get the funds for DS release
@@RunicSigils honestly if it was legit being developed for the Nintendo 3DS i'd be really impressed at how it could even run, if it was for the DS then well props to Double Eleven for somehow developing this game for a nearly 20 year old console
Honestly, I wish they would port stuff from dungeons to regular minecraft. There are so many cool looking blocks, mobs, plants, and a bunch of other stuff I'd love to use in my creative world. If I knew how to code or mod, I would totally create a mod which is just a lot of the dungeon stuff as a resource pack.
Why is bro on his knees and bout to cry just saying i was wrong
Minecraft dungeons is insanely good
People just overhate it because they have no taste
on the other hand minecraft legends is also good but it lacks gameplay
minecraft legends is actually a very very good and fun concept but the execution was kind of horrible
This would have been a good free mobile game.
i could agree with that
it’s a dungeon crawler type game, there wasn’t an end game activity like most dungeon crawlers, i played so much of mc dungeons as it was a more casual dungeon crawler it made a nice change for me to play with my friends who didn’t like the idea of grinding so much in traditional dungeon crawlers like diablo. it was and still is a very good causal dungeon crawler, there’s not too much depth to the game so it’s very easy to get into. sadly dungeon crawlers are trying to go live service with battle passes and well diablo 4 was a prime example of how you don’t do live service dungeon crawler, hopefully the dungeon crawler genre can make a big come back with something new and engaging for new and old dungeon crawler enjoyers.
Bingo
Content that would have never been in "actual minecraft".
the game wasn't abandoned, it was completed, and the developers moved on to new projects.
new projects that probably wont be any good, but eh, who knows
If thays completed then wow....
yeah he said that in the video
And even the new update of the original Minecraft, it's a reincarnation of Dungeons itself inside the classic Marcus Person sandbox.
legend tells of a dungeons v2...
