I'm Vietnamese american and just arrived a few days ago after 15 years. The motorbike taxi is so good now for getting around. Grab is good for food delivery too, so cheap! BTW if you want to grab a drink, I'm just over Go Vap right now.
Great video! I’ve used the metro twice. On the grand opening day. Which was a mad house. And another time going to visit family. I’ve used grab many times. But not the bus yet., or water bus.
..gonna be SO good to be in my new home in March (Da Nang), writin' at the beach, and everywhere else,.. livin' da bestest life possible..! Thanks for the inspiration, Tyler me-boy-o...!!😊🤙🏄☘🦊
Tot Lam! Very Good ... Yes, I always tip the Grab drivers, like you. My interactions with locals are very similar to yours. .... I always ask the locals to speak "slower" .... Noi Cham-Chap Hon
It is crowded because it is the first time everyone in Saigon has experienced this because the train system is free. for the first month, so obviously, it is crowded When it's open for business.
Started to watch your Videos a few days ago, because I'm thinking about moving to Vietnam as well. I'm binge-watching since then. Giving your Channel an 8.9. Certified Dank.
Hey bud, love the videos and love the channel. I’m a little bit of a newcomer but I wanted to say from the first video I was hooked you and your girlfriend are awesome. I will be in Vietnam on the 24th of this month and I leave in February, but if I see you around, I’ll buy you a coffee. Take care now.
I see the Saigon metro is as crowded as the London one! I also noticed that the map is similar as well, very practical and easy to navigate. I wonder if they modelled it on the London Tube.
I’m pretty sure I saw Ben Thuan towers in the background of the video when you were walking by the market. I know you used to live there, and it’s where I went to live when I finally get to move there!!
@@BigTimeBentley would you stay there again now that you have lived in numerous different places? How do you feel about all the new places in D2 right over the new bridge?
@ I would love to live there again. Yeah it’s probably the best place I’d live and I’d definitely return. The d2 places aren’t for me. I like being closer to the city
Good on you to give extra money for the Grab driver. When I use Uber, I a,ways give some cash tip to the driver, not in the app because apparently, the Uber people take some of it as well.
Tyler, so today you are visiting New Port (Tan Cang) Tan is New & Cang is Port hence New Port. Saigon Metro looks okay; it is not wow or ecstatic at all .... By the way it is called dong qua or dong nget or nguoi chat cung or nguoi dong nhu kien or nguoi chat cung nhu ca hop (people packed like sardine on the car. (It is not dong duc or dong duc qua. Those words aren't use in this case or in this situation. Those words are North Vietnam words and language which is improper Vietnamese language). Those words are proper and correct South Vietnam language. It is pretty sad that you and Trang have been speaking improper Vietnamese language. But no worries because the smarty pants North Vietnam charlatans have twisted the proper South Vietnam proper language ever since after April 30th of 1975. Those unwelcome and not wanting the Hanoi North Vietnamese invaders occupy Saigon South Vietnam . Tyler, stop in Spanish is Alto... Uh, one more thing, Tyler, can you please tell Trang that the word combo in South Vietnamese language is (bao gom, gom co, co tat ca la, gom co la, gom co ba bon thu gi do v.v... etc, etc...). I was hoping Trang was with you on this trip exploring New Port Saigon Metro...!!!
I was in Saigon in September and found that I got sick almost immediately. The smog is horrible. I also found the bike transport too small; I'm over 6' tall and need more weight lifting to get my tone back. But the "motorcycles" are not big enough for my legs and weight, which will still overload the suspension on one of these little bikes once it's where I want. From your video, I have been in that area, and you had a tame day with little traffic. My brother-in-law says the three-wheeled bikes are illegal. I would bring my motorcycle whenever I retire to Vietnam; it has the least legroom and can go to highways at speeds that scooters can not. You should be able to record when the scooter drivers drive through the red lights. I found many of the intersections in Saigon have cameras because impatient riders will ride into the intersection and filter between the traffic to continue on. Also, based on Vietnamese law, you cannot marry your GF as you were not born Vietnamese. I hope that, as Vietnam integrates more rapid transit, they can move away from scooters; this is the thinking in Hanoi. However, with the convenience of navigating the smaller streets in many major cities, I do not think the scooters will disappear. Even should the government impose restrictions, such as limiting them from intersections. I say this because while I was in Vietnam, I asked about the helmet law and was told by many night bus drivers that the government tried to enforce the helmet law, but there were so many violators they gave up. So eventually, the number of people will outweigh the governmental controls, and Vietnam will probably migrate to being a Democratic Country.

Is Ben Thanh where the big covered market is?
@@ChrissieSM yep
why are the streets so empty now? Is it because of Tet?
looks like they were counting the number of people who have download the APP.
