This is an awesome peek into your day as a UX researcher!
Awww Brian Seungjae Yoo thank you for taking a look into my day!!🥲👍🙌✨
Talking with users will never get old! Always my favorite part! But totally agree it can be exhausting. Makes me appreciate a day(s) of synthesizing afterward. Lol. Thanks for another share. 🤗
Same here!!😙Also the favorite part about my job but also love not having to talk at all all day when it’s time for synthesis 😂 Yeah of course!! My pleasure💜
Thanks for sharing your another day as a UX researcher, Tiffany! I love seeing you soaking up the sun while working☺️
Thanks so much, JP!🥰 yeees sunbathing while working is absolutely the best!🌞😍
@@Tifffster Hi Tiffany! Just out of curiosity, what tool did you use for your UXR resume? I was debating between using a plain ATS-friendly word doc resume and a more creative resume with other tools such as Figma. I'd love to hear your thoughts on making a resume stand out!
Ohh great question! I actually used Canva for my resume to keep it a bit more creative and personal. I’ll share a video shortly on how I put mine together☺️
@@Tifffster Thank you so much for your response! I've heard that Canva resumes could be not ATS-friendly, so I was not sure about that haha. Would love to see your video about this:)
This was super insightful to see what a day to day looks like! I would love to learn more about what goes on when you talk to users (def not confidential stuff of course). Thanks Tiffany! And of course your pups are sooo cute 🥰
💛💛💛Thank you so much, Patate! That’s a great question, I will try to cover that in another video🙈 Thank you, love!
I enjoyed this short but sweet look into your life as a ux researcher. I'm currently in a tough place and want a career shift, maybe instead of a complete change. I'm in IT (specifically IT support) and never knew about UX research a few years ago.
IT is so broad and it seemed like IT support was always pitched as the starter job in tech and then work your way into cyber security, networking, etc...But that's not the case. There's options like UXR! I've gone back and forth in my mind about it but am finally at a point where I want to give it a shot. I think I'd like it. I just wish I had thought of this career path sooner...and am still hesitant tbh. I just need to put one foot in front of the other lol.
But I thank you for this little glimpse! Keep rocking! ♡
Ahhh thanks for your comment!
I totally feel you, especially the one foot in one foot out thing - that’s exactly what I did. I studied UXR while being fulltime employed in Marketing, and once I got my first job in UXR (go see the video I just uploaded about contracting!) I was able to quit with no hesitation/uncertainty.
I also totally agree that what sets some of these people forward is the knowledge that all these jobs exist out there! And the willingness to take action.
All your feelings are so valid, because we have to pay for our bills, live our lives, etc.! My recommendation is to not bet your life on UXR🥲, but keep your current job while you learn/grow/network until you have something secure in UXR. At the end of the day, you don’t know how long that will take.
Keep asking questions away :) You got this!
@@Tifffster Hi Tiffany, thank you so much for your response! I truly appreciate the time you took to provide some insight and recommendation.
I am not currently working (it's a long story) but I do wish now that I would've stuck it out and done more research on this field at the same time that I was employed. Sometimes when you're working, you get too caught up and comfortable in the routine. Then, you're not even investing in yourself the way you should. My problem was also that it was a contract role. I did watch your other video and I can see the benefits of being a contractor but that's all my work experience is becoming as an IT specialist. And I don't want to do it anymore either. I'd honestly like a permanent role with great benefits. The contract job didn't come with benefits. I think the agency offered a package but it was super expensive. I didn't like the feeling of working for a company and not really being viewed as an "employee". It's like doing everything an employee would do and then being reminded you're not really part of their world, you're just temp. And you're not reaping the full benefits. It's discouraging...at least for me.
I am reflecting now, and will keep praying on this. I think videos like yours are so helpful. It's really up to me at the end of the day but fear along with a side of doubt, and other factors keep me stagnant. I want to give something a try...even if it scares me. Even if it comes with its challenges. Most importantly, I want to be proud of what I do and be happy. Not miserable.
Again, thank you so much! Sorry for my long essay lol. I subbed btw, and if I ever break into UXR successfully, I'll be sure to let you know. 🤗🤎
@@AfiKoKo Ahhhh that helps so much. Thanks for the additional context!💛 I totally feel you in that taking the next steps is the hardest but that you’ve done half the work now!💯 The friend who told me about the existence of UX actually had quit her super stable full-time job to commit to UX, and she is sooo glad she’s made that move. I admire her brave heart and yours too!👏 i also love the part that you’re fully committed to doing whatever it takes to break into UX now. You now have the time and energy to fully invest in it!
Keep grinding on your portfolio and resume, and you’ll get there! Hopefully the right opportunity will come, and you’ll get the job you deserve!💛 Let me know if you have any other questions!✨
@@Tifffster Awww, thank you sooo much! And thank you for sharing your friend's experience. Im happy it worked out for her and that she paid it forward. I plan on chatting with a friend of mine trying to break her way into UX as well. You're so sweet, thank you. I'll be sure to touch base if anything! 🙏🏾🤎☺️
👏👏👏
🙈🙈🙈
How do you find participants?
It depends on the type of study. We may send out emails to existing users who pass my criteria and see if anyone would be happy to participate in a UXR.
To reach non-user, we may use tools that have panel such as UserTesting or UserZoom. Otherwise, we may outsource recruitment in order to reach specific target participants too.
