  • Here is a look at this easy installation if you are looking for a swivel option for your 2021 Ford Transit 10-way powered seat. If you have this seat, the Amazing Auto swivel is the only good option on the market today; other major swivels manufacturers have not designed for the clearance needs of the 10-way powered seat. The Scopema swivel is a fine option for a non-powered seat.
    As noted in the comments, I forgot to talk about the tether anchor in this video. It does need to be removed for the Amazing Auto swivel to function correctly. You can also see how to do that in the Scopema Swivel video.

    Thank you so much for putting this video out. Honestly, we were going to install our Scopema swivels tomorrow on our 2022 Transit which we just got after 6 months waiting... Man, you saved us a ton of headaches and frustration. I hope the seller will take it back! And thanks for the link to this one. I hope they ship to Canada.! Keep up the good work and Happy travels!

      Glad it helped, and thank you. It took 8.5 months for my 2021! If you shopped at the Swivel Shop, their customer service was kind (a tad slow) and took care of my return. I suggested they should add a disclaimer on their website about the design of the swivel, ie not designed for the powered seats. On non-powered seats, Scopema would have been my swivel of choice.

    Thanks again for this video. A couple of notes: I made the mistake of not using the factory bolts to mount the seat to the swivel - the AA bolt/washer limits the trolley range from passing by the bolt head if you have this fail and you'll have to start over. I used a couple of pipe wrenches to bend the tether anchor out of the way instead of cutting - use a towel to avoid scratches and use two wrenches to pull against each other to not bend the frame. My girlfriend is 5' 6" and there was still plenty of height adjustment - it didn't raise the seat too much for her. I have the 2022 with an electric parking brake so the driver side went quickly (about an hour). I had to detach the metal battery structure (2x 8mm bolts) and reroute the electrical harness for full range. On both seats I routed the harness over the East-West brace that moves with the seat.

      You're welcome. I find I can lower the passenger seat all the way with the AA swivel and there is plenty of clearance for the wire bundle, I can move the seat all the way forward and back. And of course if you lower it for riding, raise it up all the way to swivel.

    Great video, I do have the powered seats as well and installed those. One comment though, with dual batteries, the cable is a little more tight but doable if you cut open a bit more the barrey plastic cover. I am not that impressed with all the trouble to raise it, move forward for the back to clear the door, then back it a bit, then trun half way then forward again to clear the middle console etc. That been said, it's doing the job and I haven't test the others so it could be a similar challenge.

      Thank you. I suppose that's what we have to deal with having the powered seats. Basic seats are far easier and can use a much more slim swivel. Glad you got it working.

    Nice, clear video, instructions, and good video quality - thank you! Although you originally removed the tether anchor in your Scopema swivel video, would the tether anchor need to be removed or bent for the Amazing Auto swivel as well? (I think the answer is yes, but since you have experience now with both I just wanted to make sure.)

      Thank you, Mike! And thanks for asking this question. I did forget to address the tether anchor in this video. According to the (very fuzzy) video provided by www.sprinterswivel.com the tether anchor needs to be removed. I can confirm that is true with the AA swivel; remove it or bend it down. If you choose to remove it, make sure to file and paint.

    Great stuff and thanks so much! Did you measure the actual lift the swivel installed after adding the spacers? Does it feel like you can get it low enough to be comfortable facing forward during normal driving?

    • @VanTransitions
      @VanTransitions  2 года назад

      You're welcome, Doug. The Amazing Auto swivel specs on sprinterswivel.com say 1.5" height for the unit made for the 10-way powered seat. For spacers on the AA swivel install, I used 2 stacked washers as shown (so 1/8" to 3/32" extra?) to avoid the rivet pin from rubbing. The seat can be raised and lowered fully. Set yours at the lowest point and add 1.5" plus a smidge for the washers and you'll have your answer for your height/comfort. Hope that helps.

    Awesome video!! Thanks for making this. Are you planning to convert your driver seat to a swivel as well? is that even an option with the same swivel mechanism?

    • @VanTransitions
      @VanTransitions  2 года назад +1

      You're welcome. I will not be adding a swivel to the driver seat in my build. Yes it is an option. AA offers 4 choices currently on their site; 2 for driver, 2 for passenger, for Transits with or without the powered seat. Make the selection that best fits your needs. www.sprinterswivel.com
      AA is the only option specifically designed for the powered seat currently on the market. If you want something more slim (adds less height) and you do not have powered seats, take a look at the Scopema Swivel.

    GREAT VIDEO THANKS! this video helped me decide on which swivel and how to install....I am surprised this question hasn't been asked...What are the torque setting for all the bolts/ nuts? I am not finding that info anywhere. Also why did you use the 2 washers between the AA and the factor seat rails? My note for others... from what I can tell and did...between the seat and swivel...add one washer at each of the four bolts and one on each of the retaining pin things (6 total) this was the proper spacing for the retaining pin that makes up the gap space on the power seats due to the round retaining pin on the rear of the OEM seat tracks **NOTE my AA received 7/22 for the power seats only locks in the main position...it doesn't lock in any other position.

      thanks JD! For torque settings I'm sorry I do not have them, please contact the swivel manufacturer. I needed 2 washers to clear the height for the pin near the rear of the seat rails, 1 was just a hair too short using the ones I was provided. If your model doesn't have that mid locking at 45, perhaps there has been a slight upgrade to their swivel design since my purchase? Or if you have a different model than 2021, maybe Ford shortened the pin?

      JD - I just looked at sprinterswivel.com and the photos of their Transit swivel are different. Mine has the black knob handle as you can see in the video and today their site shows a hoop shaped handle. It would appear they have changed their design.

      @@VanTransitions yeah I definitely have a newer version than yours and any others I have seen. They still don't come with instructions and have the worst install video I have ever seen. Mine has the black loop handle, no lock notches except for forward position and black hex heads bolts around the center

      @@VanTransitions "contact manufacturer" HAHAHAHA I tried calling them before ordering...that was a joke...it was some random guys cell phone who didn't speak well. Mine only locks in 1 position, facing forward...otherwise it doesn't lock in any other position

    • @VanTransitions
      @VanTransitions  2 года назад

      Oh no, that doesn't sound good. Your device only locks facing forward for driving position, not at all at 180 for facing into the "living space" of the van?

    You tested the sway of the amazing auto versus the factory. . . What would you say about the auto vs the scopema?

    • @VanTransitions
      @VanTransitions  2 года назад

      Given I was unhappy with the nearly 1 inch spacer requirement in trying to make the Scopema work with the powered seat, I never fully tested the sway as I never went further than the plywood stand-ins loosely connected for the spacers. If I had a guess having held it in hand, the Scopema would probably sway less than the AA, but obviously a little more than factory.

    Was the seat in the lowest position when you tested the clearance?

    • @VanTransitions
      @VanTransitions  2 года назад

      Hi Sean! In the video, the clearance portion is shown with the seat all the way up as needed for easy swiveling. I tested the seat in the normal, straight forward passenger "riding while vehicle is being driven" position, at its lowest, and clearance was 100% when moving the seat all the way forward into the dash and back.

    Ce n'est pas bien filmé je ne vois pas comment vous fixez les boulons de l'embase sur la base et du siège sur l'embase . C'est sans doute simple pour vous mais en réalité cela ne l'est pas du tout.

    • @VanTransitions
      @VanTransitions  Год назад

      les boulons de l'embase sur la base 0:56 et du siège sur l'embase 1:41
      English:
      Bolting the base begins at 0:56 using the 13mm bolts and washers that came from Amazing Auto.
      Attaching the seat to the swivel base begins at 1:41 using the Ford bolts you took out when you removed the seat from its original factory base, then there is a closeup shot you can pause on for the stacking of the washers; it is 0 on top, 2 between the seat rail and the swivel base, 1 under the swivel base before the nut. as seen at 2:26.
      hope this helps/J'espère que cela t'aides
