I'd forgotten but not out of disinterest, I realised it had been years since I heard anything about it - at least a year. I looked at what I could find recently, a day before the most recent news I heard the next day, incidentally
Unfortunately this conflict went with the worst route possible. Azerbaijan’s dictator supported by the dictator of Turkey declared a war on people of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), and as of today forced the region into complete surrender, with 120 thousand Christian Armenians to be removed from their homeland and become refugees. So no, it didn’t go well. Still we are thankful to all of those who had shown their support for the Armenian people.
His imprisonment paid his debt to society. Would you prefer he go back to the streets. Politicians commit far more crime on a daily basis and they never pay a debt to society.
Also considering that last part about the kids in gangs, if he can reach just a handful and get them to turn their lives around and over the last twenty years he certainly has, then I would say he has more than given back.
@MrNorthernSol honestly if you think about it why should he have to pay a debt to society? It's not society who was harmed. If there's any debt that should be paid, it should be to the families of the deceased. But regardless Michael Franzese is a stand up guy in my book.
A truly heartbreaking story. These are the stories we need to hear. We need to see the results and stop turning a blind eye to the difficult are hard issues.
Michael, I must say that you do in fact make the most genuine and interesting content on RUclips. Nobody with your intelligence and temperament has ever told these stories before with such openness. An openness that can only come from a man who went from Valentino suits to 10 years in the can. The understanding and empathy you show for those youngsters concerning their environment & the risks of modern life is beautiful mr. Franzese. THANK YOU for exposing the lavish lifestyle MYTH. Years ago, i read the Donnie Brasco book and he mentioned his shock when he witnessed the POOR lifestyles and the petty crimes which included BREAKING IN TO VENDING MACHINES ! That WAS shocking. Of course not all, but most. So glad you verified that.
I read a book called the first family. It was amazing. It talked about how the mafia got settled coming through new Orleans. They talked about the black hand and the book ended around 1915. I then read a book about the 5 families. That book got me very interested in Michael Franzese. Your autobiography was great. Your road to the life in the mafia to life of redemption. I love your videos. Very educational and want to make me dig even deeper. If you could recommend any other books that would be awesome. Thank you for the videos.
Murder Machine about the Demeo crew is the best mafia book I've read and the one about the Scarfo family in Philly is good also,I can't remember the name of it though,I think it's Blood and Honor.
Michael is a brilliant speaker and a great storyteller. If you pair that with living such an interesting life you can't go wrong, its doomed to be a great watch. No wonder his channel is growing as fast as it does
You sir are a good man. We need more men who are willing to use every ounce of your experience and life lessions to help people. No man is perfect. I know who you are from documentaries and interviews I've watched since I was a kid but just knowing you are still trying to do right in your life even after everything you have done and been through. That's awesome.
I'm new to watching your channel. I just found it a couple of days ago, and what you were saying about needing to get troubled people out of their neighborhoods so to speak is so true. My cousins at an early age fell in with a bad lot back home in NJ. They were always in trouble in school, in and out of juvenile detention, and finally in and out prison. And the one constant was that every time they got outt, our family would help them find new jobs, find new places to live, but my family has lived in the same 35 mile radius since the 1600's. No matter how well they started off, no matter how much they tried, they were only successful until some one of their friends or another found them and started hanging out with them and the cycle started again. The older of the two brothers finally couldn't take it any longer, and hung himself in jail with his shoelace. His brother, who was in jail in another state, couldn't get out to see his brother one last time, just as he couldn't get out when his father died years later. Please folks, do not make the same mistake my family made, and it was with the best of intentions but we kept them close so we could support them and help them, because we knew everybody and it was easy to help them get a new start. But they were never far enough away to fully escape their past associations, and that was their downfall. Would they have gotten better in a whole new setting, with all new people, away from their past? There is no guarantee, but I can tell you that keeping them within easy driving distance of everything that had ruined their lives before didn't work, and still isn't working. It's almost a guarantee that if I search for my cousin online right now I am going to find he is either in jail or awaiting trial and will be heading back to jail.
Anybody who questions this man's authenticity when it comes to the life doesn't know their history. This guy lived the life, got out the right way and knows more about the life then anyone alive.
The movie "Donnie Brasco" paints the picture of the low level life in the mob and how they're always chasing different scams to make money. The one scene with Lefty trying to crack open a parking meter was priceless. That's down there with stealing a vending machine. But that's being a "gangster".
Yep, the made men who aren't earners are always looking for a 2-bit scheme to make a few bucks, whereas the "earners" sit back and let deals come to them.
Lefty was a degenerate gambler who pissed all his money away, I read somewhere that he was actually a good earner. You can't use this scene as "proof" that they're broke. When you're in the mob your job is to scheme & scam to constantly bring in money for your crime family, even if you have $20 million buried in your backyard. A lot of these guys go to great lengths to hide their wealth if they have it, as the government and fellow gangsters alike are trying to take it. I've seen gangsters who were found with hundreds of thousands or millions in cash but yet were dressed in sweatsuits. Not everyone is flashy, so stop making blanketed statements. One more thing, the slave away on a time clock and paying your extortion fees to Uncle Sam each payday life isn't all it's cracked up to be either.
@@clintonfussell7385 you're absolutely right slaving away grinding and punching the clock to pay Uncle Sam is certainly not all that it's cracked up to be but neither is a long prison sentence away from your loved ones, and as far as mob guys are concerned many of them are just soldiers very few are top-level earners like you see in the movies and even less are like Mr. Franzese basically that life can be a grind when all you are is muscle and nothing else.
@@sonychiba4733 Life in itself can be risky. You could be a pro athlete chasing fame & fortune & get a life-altering injury. The smart ones know how to put money into legitimate business & to lay low.

I also had 3 other children who did really well and as adults are doing well..yet Andrew who was born in March of 82 is still struggling and I'm still praying he will spread his wings and fly. New world is coming and I see Andrew doing great things. There's a new blossoming in South Africa and this idea started during the holidays of 2021 when people go into the care centers of the elderly and I believe this should go fast and furious through every country.. it's adopt a grandma, grandpa and disabled especially military.. most of these amazing people have no one in their lives and nothing.. it's not just a holiday thing it's turning out to be an everyday of their lives adoption.. I also believe this should be for all children as they have no guidance from a father.. this is all about loving each other and all people..see you soon in the new world Michael and keep being you..
We don't joke like that in Wyoming. I know a Basque family that came over from Spain in the 1950s and 1960s that had to quit shepherding only a few years ago after two guys were mauled by grizzly bears in one season. The feds in the US want to unleash as many wolves, bears, and violent criminals as they can, except a select few cases that get taken personally - that's indisputable. As to what the motivations are... I have theories but I dunno what's actually going on.
I learned two things by listening to this podcast today: if you’re smart enough to earn money in the mob, you’re smart enough to earn money on your own. The second thing is that the Pareto principal is also present in Lacosta nostra the 80/20 rule... 20% of your customers earn you 80% of the revenue and 80% of your customers earning 20% of your revenue. In the Cosa Nostra the Pareto principal is present and that 20% of the made guys earn most of the money.
@@singularseeker I imagine so, slaving away on a time clock covered from head to toe in dirt and sweat and smelling like dog shit isn't very appealing.
Being in the mob gives you the protection that you don't have on your own. If someone owes you it's a lot easier to say f**k you when you are solo as opposed to having an army behind you. I could get sent to jail working by myself self & that's it. If you have people behind you the threat exists whether I am present or not.
@@ryannowlan3838 But then you have hundreds of people who have knowledge of your criminal acts and can/will inform on you, and you'll also have to deal with RICO.

A couple of comments and observations: I didn’t know what to make of these videos when I first watched them. The more I watch, however, I am very impressed in a few different levels. 1. I’m sure you were a real hard-ass in your past life, and clearly some unsavory things happened. But, it’s also clear that you have a huge heart and a lot of compassion. 2. I listen to you and I think to myself, he feels up in one context and he was very successful, and it seems to me that had life taken a different turn for you, you probably would have been very successful anyway. You mentioned having wanted to be a doctor, but I can easily picture you as a CEO of some large company 3. You have a lot of important messages. Sometimes, honestly, it’s despite who you were. Mostly, I think your words have weight because of who you were 4. Lastly, I guess who you were doesn’t matter as much as who you are now. Is it redemption? I don’t know, but I think it’s true. Sorry for the long comment, but I just wanted to express appreciation, wish you the beat, and ask that you keep the videos coming
The best to your daughter. The most impressive thing I've heard from you -- and that is not to belittle anything else you've said -- was telling that boy to straighten up and look at an adult. One gesture, but huge. The sort of thing that needs to be restored in some quarters. Good job, sir.

I watched a video about the New Orleans mafia this week. They had a decent relationship with the community. There were a couple of rival outfits that had some issue. One outfit murdered several members of the other outfit. They (11) were caught by the police and arrested. They bribed and threatened jurors and were either acquitted or charges dropped. A local mob stormed the jail and executed them. This story said typically, this is the reason the mob doesn’t kill cops and judges, because killing people outside Cosa nostra will incite the local civilians to take action to reclaim their communities.
Im 35 now and my son is 12. We`re best friends and he`s so sweet. But sometimes I feel this weird fear sensation knowing how messed up the world is and that more and more he`s gonna have to face it.
I was 35 when MY son ( oldest) was 12....I proceeded to have two more. And the last one was named Lucas. Lucas was with us for 17 years. He went home early. I first realised that being a soldier was not a right to print money when i watched Donnie Brasco. Lefty was clearly struggling for money and brought Donnie in because he thought he would be a good earner for him and often leaned on him for money. I remember a line where he says "even a dog gets a warm piece of the side walk" and he was a made guy for many years so it shows how authentic that movie was
My understanding is Left was a degenerate gambler. He was like John Gotti in this regard. So these guys stole a lot and made lots of money but it slipped through their fingers.
It's like anything else in life, it's about your own business acumen to be successful, nobody respects some loser who is wasteful and stupid and egomaniac
Lefty was a broke gambler. Made guys usually keep their money hush hush or keep it in their wife's name or someone else, or have a side income they tell no one about. Lefty was too traditional and avoided anything that would make him money-drugs, heists, sobriety etc

Michael, I must say that you do in fact make the most genuine and interesting content on RUclips. Nobody with your intelligence and temperament has ever told these stories before with such openness. An openness that can only come from a man who went from Valentino suits to 10 years in the can. You are a man of great character and I'm grateful to whoever came up with the idea putting you on camera and letting you do your thing. Don't change

@@Matt-jl9lo so did King David.

‘Lots of parkingmeters in Florida’

I also believe this should be for all children as they have no guidance from a father.. this is all about loving each other and all people..see you soon in the new world Michael and keep being you..
Mr Franzese has a grizzly bear rug in his home... it’s not dead just too scared to move 😂
Truly some of the best content on RUclips. I'm glad I found your channel.
That rule applies everywhere, hardly a deterrent for anyone looking for a career in the mob or crime period.

A couple of comments and observations:
I didn’t know what to make of these videos when I first watched them.
You mentioned having wanted to be a doctor, but I can easily picture you as a CEO of some large company
3. You have a lot of important messages. Sometimes, honestly, it’s despite who you were. Mostly, I think your words have weight because of who you were
4. Lastly, I guess who you were doesn’t matter as much as who you are now. Is it redemption? I don’t know, but I think it’s true.
Sorry for the long comment, but I just wanted to express appreciation, wish you the beat, and ask that you keep the videos coming

Your stories are the best. I appreciate your efforts with our youth.
Love how forthcoming n honest he is about his past life n experiences
I watched a video about the New Orleans mafia this week. They had a decent relationship with the community. There were a couple of rival outfits that had some issue. One outfit murdered several members of the other outfit. They (11) were caught by the police and arrested. They bribed and threatened jurors and were either acquitted or charges dropped. A local mob stormed the jail and executed them.
This story said typically, this is the reason the mob doesn’t kill cops and judges, because killing people outside Cosa nostra will incite the local civilians to take action to reclaim their communities.

I first realised that being a soldier was not a right to print money when i watched Donnie Brasco. Lefty was clearly struggling for money and brought Donnie in because he thought he would be a good earner for him and often leaned on him for money.
