Hi there! As the last TF2 dev, I hear your input! Unfortunately, we likely will not be rebalancing the Phlog + Scorch Shot combo because the original design philosophy was simply to cause as much human suffering as possible :)

@@HeyGrouch Nein! Do this again on a x100 server, with the backscratcher. Even if someone tries to pocket him, it won't have an effect.
Scorch Shot: Allows you to spam corners and hit people without seeing them, setting them on fire.
Grenade Launcher: Allows you to spam corners and above walls and hit people without seeing them, especially with splash damage.
Tell me, which gun was more of a crime? Well, the Grenade Launcher doesn't have as much range as the Scorch Shot, nor can it strike twice, but it does do more damage and has a higher splash damage radius. Of course, the splash damage is a bit forgiving due to damage falloff but still.

Hahahaha. The Phlog and The Scorch shot will always be my most destructive weapon that is a valid strategy.
On the contrary scorch shot + axtinguisher is a pretty fun combo (if melee reg isn't screwing you over) and satisfying to pull off.

as a pyro main it's really disheartening to play degreaser/detonator and watch enemy pyros clean up my teammates with phlog/scorch shot. sometimes it just makes me think "fuck it why even try" but no. i will not succumb. i will not obtain a scorch shot because having it in your inventory is like putting the one ring on your finger. no human can resist its temptation.
I've yet to notice being double donked by a pyro, a few times by demos though

Here's the counter. Pay attention and shoot the pyro with boom-booms. They're basically saying "Here Soldiers and Demomen, I am a free kill!" by equipping the Phlog.

I loved (and love) the scorch shot since before the buff, but the thing is that i liked its supression capabilities. i didn't use it to get kills, just to drain the enemy's resources and keep them from pushing
...then i saw when it was buffed and got the "mini crits on burning targets" and my immediate reaction was "...ohno, what were they thinking"

the only good weapon combination i found for the pyro is any flamethrower other than the dragons fury or phlog, since they all have an "automatic" fire with airblast, the scorch shot, for its AOE damage when hitting the ground, and minicrits if bounced onto the enemy team, and the axtinguisher, for its ability to crit players that are on fire, these weapons combined can be powerful if used correctly

Might annoying, but not overpowered.About the phlog, it has a wrong reputation. Some victims are stated to be very toxic tryhards ( not trying to offend someone) who despise the phlogistinator because they see it as a easy killgetter for noobs and thus, gets in the way of getting them killstreaks. The medics agreed to participate in the so called ,,crime“ , making elmaxo not guilty for the case with medics. The case of the scorch shit and the phlogistinator on the other hand are the cause of the ,,crime“. They simply have stereotypes, that people made because some scorch and phlog pyros play that way.
