    I'm from Philly, the Eagles were playin Nnamdi in zone coverage. He's always been a press corner. Andy Reid had a habit of not playing players to their strengths.

    The fact that this guy gave up 18 catches in two seasons is absolutely INSANE. As an Eagles fan, why did Andy Reid make this man play zone? Like this guy was legit impossible to throw at.

      @@datdemboy I loved Andy, I wish he got that Lombardi trophy here in Philly but he was so stubborn and for every great thing he did, he did one that made you scratch your head. You could do a whole top 10 list of weird things Andy did. I will nominate a few right now. Danny Watkins, Nnamdi playing zone, drafting Jeremy Bloom, wasting a 2nd round pick on Kevin Kolb, overpaying Stacy Andrews hoping that his brother Shawn would start loving football again, 1st round pick on Freddy Mitchell, letting Trotter go the first time, the game where we started Winston Justice at left tackle and he gave up 6 sacks and Andy REFUSED to help him. I thought of those in five minutes, id love to really sit down and put some thought into a list.

    • @datdemboy
      @datdemboy 5 лет назад +6

      Yeah Andy was way to stubborn. And I feel as that 2010 and 2011 draft eventually sealed his fate. That game against the giants was brutal. And he never adjusted never even lined a te out there to help justice out. Plus when he drafted a position it was always the wrong guy ie taking l.j Smith over Jason witten, Nate Allan over tj ward. And remember that year he took like 2de in the same draft all so called fireballs. Who was it Ricky Sapp Daniel teo. After already landing Brandon Graham and signing Darrel tapp

      there was no need to throw his way.. Nnamdi was a great corner. No doubt. But he was not a true shutdown corner. A true shutdown corner shadows the opposing team's top receiver. Nnamdi did not. Teams didn't need to target him, because they could simply put their top receiver on the opposite side, or run the ball on sub-par Raider defenses.

    • @TheRealist1.
      @TheRealist1. 4 года назад +17

      @@supersayainjesus7204 that was scheme, the Raiders simply lacked the foresight to move him around. You don't get to redefine "shutdown corner" he shut down his side no matter what so-called advanced analysis surface. The Raiders figured they could double a side, and leave him on the other. In his prime I'm sure they'd have similar results if they moved him around.

    I would honestly say the eagles definitely didn't use him correctly after acquiring him. But hey a coach will run what he's comfortable with.
    Also we definitely saw an influx of more offensive coordinators who wanted to throw the ball far more than run the ball due to the philosophy of runningbacks being overvalued.
    Nnamdi was a prototype indeed. But he was never able to truly enjoy post season success due to all the circumstances you listed.
    Great video as always Flemlo.

    What happened was the Raiders played man coverage 99% of the time back then and the Eagles were a zone team. Eagles signed him because of what he did on his previous team and didn’t think about how they need to use him on their own team. Probably have to put some blame on Nnamdi too. Some guys get the big money and don’t work as hard, he MAY have been that guy

    • @seumasmcbride8386

Had he followed the opponents best WR all over the field like revis did then we would have more ground to compare the 2 . They're both all time greats but revis gets the slight edge in this one . Had nmandi played on winning teams , teams wouldve passed more and we'd have a better sample size to see his performance but they didn't and teams ran alot more than pass once up a considerable margin.

    The bears actually found a way to make two different style corners work on one defense. This past season, Prince Amukamara lined up in press most of the time while Kyle Fuller played 7-9 yards off. They both play completely different styles in the same defense, which ranked #3 in the league last year, and they are both successful. Its a shame the Eagles couldn't figure it out, but it's not impossible to make it work.

      Damien Richardson Honestly it would have worked a lot better in Philly if we had a real defense coordinator. When Jim Johnson passed away and when McDermott was fired, we made Juan Castillo our old offensive line coach into a Defensive coordinator. His scheme was one of the worst I’ve ever seen and they had players playing out of position. I think Nnamdhi also would have faired a lot better if he had better safeties since Nate Allen and Kurt Coleman we’re god awful. Sad to see it didn’t work out with Nnamshi since he’s a great guy but I’m happy to see him do great outside of football.
