  • More sketch and chat, this time focusing on studying lighting and fabric. The conversation quickly became a jumbled rant on my feelings on social media this year - I have no intention of leaving RUclips, but I think I might be stepping away from my other socials here soon.

You're so right! Posting to instagram (and other platforms) started to feel like a chore for me. Lately I post there when I remember IG even exists, then scroll through the feed that shows me NONE of people I'm actually subscribed to and then close it for another week or so. RUclips seems more like a community (?) but it has its problems as well :/
Another great art from you! 😍I love it! That hair and the shirt folds!

Thank you! Ack, yeah! I guess the difference is I go in my feed on YT and see the people I subscribe to and the content I love.. I go in my feed on IG and all bets are off. Chore is a good word for it. Maybe we'll all give up together and then I'll feel less guilty about it 😅

That hair is just incredible! I feel you on hating short form content. I tried to post a youtube short and left it up for about eight hours before deleting it because I hated seeing it as my most recent video.

I missed it?! Nooo~ But yeah it's super personal preference.. there is some great animal and comedy content in short form. I just really don't like what it reduces a lot of the art posted on IG to..
      Also thank youuu

Every time I consider getting back on Instagram I get discouraged because more and more artists talk about how frustrated they are with it 😅 I'm pretty much like you I hate reels and shorts, I hate how Instagram started showing me what it thinks I like instead of my favorite artists. I do miss sharing art with my online artists friends but the stress and annoyingness is not worth it.
Love love loove how you painted the hair 🥰🥰🥰

Thank you! Ah yeah exactly! Sorry to add to the discouraging remarks, but I guess it's good to know that if I leave, I probably won't miss it too terribly? Just need to find a good way to keep up with the artists I adore who aren't on YT🤔

@@briwidmerart oh yes it's definitely better to know. I was considering twitter a while ago as a very last solution but that has it's own problems now too 😅

@E4Alabbasy 😅 Yeah... on top of everything else, I think it's such a shame to hide accounts from people who aren't logged in. Let people look up artists and see their work at a minimum!

I miss it so much when you would go on popular artists instagram and see the beautiful gallery of their artworks. Now at least half of it (at best!!) is stills from videos! That makes the feed look unappealing to me and when I open the work i can't just observe and appreciate it, because it's a hecking video. No hate to those artists, they are doing everything they can to survive and grow on this platform, but it's disheartening that it changed so much... My engagement is miniscule compared to previous years, therefore posting there for feedback isn't gratifying anymore, I just use it as my gallery. Feels like hanging your works on a wall in a museum barely anyone visits, but at least it looks pretty together.

Sorry, I missed your comment, but I absolutely agree! The videos really disrupt the aesthetic gallery look. Definitely not the fault of the artists, as most of them didn't want the changes to Instagram at all. I just wish there was a video-free mode or something to turn on images only. Classic IG please.
