    Sports in general is not fair. Being tall or naturally athletic is something nobody can control but can provide an advantage from the start. More testosterone isn’t any different the way I see it.

    • @albertobernal2537
      @albertobernal2537 5 лет назад +1

      Hmmm, you've got a point there. In the same manner you could ban (too) tall athletes (male or female) from competing in basketball, volleyball, pole-vaulting etc... The difference is that in that respect height was never an issue, while the concentration of certains chemicals, natural or otherwise, HAS been an issue for decades and subject to regulation. In other words, anabolic steroid substances have always been considered as performance enhancers. Therefore naturally high testosterone (the native anabolic steroid for humans) levels could be regarded as unfair as well. 2 sides to look at the issue. I lean towards the latter though, abnormally high levels of testosterone due to transgenderism, drug use or naturally occurring secretion SHOULD be banned (if statistically and significantly too high). Otherwise, just open the doors and let them get juiced up as much as they want.

    Seems really odd that an entirely natural hormone difference would be bannable. I mean, surely ALL athletes at the high levels have a natural affinity for athleticism in addition to all the training? That might be large feet for a swimmer or it might be higher than normal testosterone levels.
    I'm against trans-women competing in female events, because men will be stronger, but if they're a naturally born woman, what else should matter?

      Caridor yes and no. The problem with this particular case is that the athlete is not 100% biologically female. We can’t let men compete in women’s sport, even though they technically also have completely biologically normal hormones....for males. Now if we allow (biological) females and not (biological) males, what happens to someone who is (biologically) somewhere in between? That is not an easy answer, but I certainly see why women who do not have any intersex traits think themselves at a disadvantage....

      I think the idea of gender separation in sports is stupid anyway. Separate it into classes based on demonstrable skill set the same way weight classes exist in wrestling. If a woman can kick my ass, she should be able to compete with me in sport, and even if she can't kick my ass, she should still be allowed to try unless we're grossly outmatched. as a women with PCOS, it causes me to have higher testosterone levels... it is insulting that because i naturally have those levels, that i am not considered a natural woman. 10% of females have PCOS. Women like me are not only targeted and insulted by this but also by men who mis-read us because they are into transvestigation.
    Last month i had to go to jury duty. i was wearing a dress, had long hair and a guy looked me up and down and then called me SIR... on purpose... I'm not trans-gender, i'm not a transvestite. I was born a female, and i present as a female... i do feel hurt that my femininity is in quest by homophobes and homophobic organizations. It hurts to be natural and perceived to not be the gender i was born as. it's even more insulting that it would mean i'm not women enough to compete, it is sending signals to the world that i am unworthy of my birthright as a women.
    The way i see sports is that there ARE dominated by some people who are more gifted then others naturally at something, which is how it should be. I don't expect in all sports to hold the best of the best back by making them against their will take body altering substances just because they have a small advantage naturally. This is a slippery slope subject no organization should have a right to force a natural person to take unnatural means just to compete. this is disgusting.

      What happens if every bank says that they dont want you as a customer... you wont have a bank account, you cant make financial transactions.
      ..and then someone says something like "make your own platform"... que gab being created and then shunned by the entirety of the tech world (payment providers, ISPs etc etc) in an attempt to maintain their hegemony.

    You can despise Jones, Yiannopoulos, Farrakhan, Watson etc, you can HATE their ideas and fight tooth and nail against them. But you can still agree this coordinated ban is wrong. Unless these people directly and purposefully called for violence against an individual or group of people, or if they repeatedly violated a set of objective, fact based, unbiased terms of service ("hate" is not objective), which were clearly presented to them (and upon being banned, the exact message which violated the exact term & how was given,) then banning these people is wrong. Yes, these are private companies, so this is not illegal, but what we have seen recently, is that these massive trillion dollar tech conglomerates have become just as if not more powerful than entire governments. In this day and age, Social media are just about the only way for an average citizen to have an even remotely significant voice. These ultra-wealthy tech oligarchs coordinating a ban on certain individuals, for "violating" a subjective, ever changing, unclear double standard, is not "preventing hate". What we are witnessing is the erasure depersoning of whoever the multinational corporations dont like or fear.

      She is someone with DSD (disorders of sexual development), which has about 7.5x the average testosterone levels as any normal women - and if you don't know that gives you a massive unfair, steroid level advantage, you are a fool. She has two options now - get the internal testes removed, or go on the hormone blockers for normal levels.
      This is opening a huge can of worms here... There is a reason we separated women from men in sports a long ass time ago. For exactly similar reasons. There is a reason some 200+ male marathon runners beat the best world record marathon runner for womens... And the distance of time between the records is substantial. And it is also true for short range sprints, weight lifting, quick-muscle reflex tests, and more. I am just talking best of the best here, this is very much a real issue, whether you want to accept it or not. And a large deal of it is in fact, hormonal. What hormones? Oh, you know - things like Testosterone... Which mostly comes from male testicles...
      Which some women, like with DSD, like above - this person in this debate from SA, seem to still have the benefit of at least partially in some form actually having.
      It is a fair ban to me; if it matters that much to her, get them removed and embrace her womanhood, or at least block those hormones to normal women levels.

    Absolutely abhorrent that they would force female athletes born female to be required to take testosterone suppressants. It makes no sense, the aim of these sports is to find the strongest, fastest, and fittest human being in that event in order to show the peak of human capability.
    Would they force this on men? Of course not. Certain male athletes have enormous physical advantages over their competition and dominate their event, and we wouldn't dream of limiting them because we're literally watching to see them achieve the once thought unachievable.

    • @anonymous-bh6cq
      @anonymous-bh6cq 5 лет назад +8

      Yes, but having an intersex person with testosterone levels closer to men defeats the point of having a women's division if the T-levels are an inherent advantage for that sport. It's the same reasoning as not letting transgender athletes compete in female sports, except that the person (Caster Semenya) is a naturally occurring gender aberration rather than a man-made one.
      And looking at pictures, it seems like Semenya looks and behaves like a man in every aspect of her life except for sports competitions, which makes the argument that she's being discriminated against even more laughable when it doesn't even seem like she considers herself a woman except when it's convenient. That's why she said the thing about being happy with the way she was born, implying she's okay with not being a woman, except when it comes to competitions where it gives her a huge advantage over typical women.

    • @4WARD5
      @4WARD5 5 лет назад +24

      To my understanding, she is a woman. She has two X chromosomes; therefore, she should compete as a woman. Should Michael Phelps not have been allowed to swim, because he has the perfect swimmers body and other mutations such as producing less than half of the lactic acid of his rivals? People have natural advantages; that's largely the point of competitions - to put those natural advantages on display.

    • @anonymous-bh6cq
      @anonymous-bh6cq 5 лет назад +2

      @@4WARD5, the competitions and world records are typically about normal humans pushing their training to the extreme, not about being a 1 in a million genetic anomaly that can only be beaten by a future genetic anomaly.
      That's why things like disorders that give you excess growth hormone or testosterone are against regulations - they're abnormal performance enhancers.
      I don't know the situation surrounding Michael Phelps so I can't say whether he falls into that category. But Semenya clearly does - her high testosterone has basically given her a male build and muscle tone that suppressors can't fix - she's permanently better than any normal female competitor in the same way that mtf trans athletes are.

    • @SillyPutty125
      @SillyPutty125 5 лет назад +4

      @@4WARD5 She is a woman because she was assigned the female sex at birth. That is, the doctors decided she fit into the "female" category better than the "male" category. However, for many intersex babies, this decision is very arbitrary and has changed over the past few decades. For example, for infants with mixed gonadal tissue, the infant is assigned the sex that most closely matches the external genitalia. regardless of the sex chromosomes. You can read more here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_assignment
      By the way, Caster Semenya has XY chromosomes, not that this has any bearing on the conversation whatsoever. It says "female" on her birth certificate.

    • @4WARD5
      @4WARD5 5 лет назад +2

      No, chromosomes are actually the most relevant thing, because it is an objective measurement of sex. To say that she can't compete as a woman is to say that her figure and being is not a valid way for a woman to be which is obviously objectively false, because she is the evidence. There are many, many natural physical advantages athletes can have and to say which are okay and which aren't is stupid; two men can have equal diets and workout regiments, but because of genetics, can have vastly different strength, stamina, etc. She's a woman. Period.
      She will get old and stop competing just like anyone else, and when that happens, then less capable women can return to winning as if winning is all it is even about.

      Injections or not, you don't understand - it is testosterone, and the reason why you would benefit from teste injections which are banned, and this isn't too far dissimilar.
      It seems like you are the one here not understanding the situation this is talking about. The women with naturally high level that they are talking about are actually intersex individuals, also know as people with DSD (disorders of sexual development). Having read more about the specifics, the level of testosterone these individuals must be under to compete in the women's category is still 7.5 times higher than the level of testosterone in a standard healthy woman with no medical conditions. So for them to be able to compete as a woman they must go on hormone blockers just like a transgender individual until their T levels are below the cap. Sounds fair to me.
      If you want to talk about Semenya specifically, she has undergone testing, she has XY chromosomes and internal testes. Her options are surgically remove the testes which would lower her T levels significantly below the levels that even a normal woman has, or go on hormone blockers to get below the T cap.
