Did you put batteries in the remote? I'm sure you did, I'm just not sure what else the problem could be. If it just refuses to connect no matter what you do, I think it would be worth it to get a replacement, as I've never seen that happen before.
Sometimes taking all the batteries out and putting them in again can fix problems with electronics in general - it's kind of like resetting it. And is there any chance you put the batteries in the remote wrong?
