Hey, thanks alot 4the vid. I haven't got the rubber gourmet that sits underneath the adjustor. Niether do I have the 2 plates under the clutch arm. I do however have the rubber sitting in the clutch arm. Can I make my own plates and gourmet under the adjustor?
Hi PJ, great video! I have a question about my 86 MK1 Cabriolet. Last year I changed the clutch cable for good measure because it seemed to grab high on the pedal and looked old. Now it does 1 of 2 things: If I adjust it to 10mm gap, the clutch grabs really high on the pedal but the feel of the pedal/cable is normal from top to bottom, or if I adjust it to grab where I like (around 1/4 of the way from the floor to the high point) then I get a dead cable feel for the top 1/4 of the total travel of the pedal. Kind of like if the cable was too long and there was no tension at the top 1/4 of the travel downwards. Also an annoying sqeeking sound in either adjustment position. When I changed the cable, I noticed that the clutch arm didn't seem very firm at the start of its travel path. Is it possible that this is happening because I don't have a cable brace like you show in the start of the video? I not, what else could it be? Thank you
Hi .if you have the same (long cable) set up like mine it's very important that the cable is routed correctly,no tight turns ,and to have that cable brace in place to hold the cable secure ..
You can also make one . You need a stiff wire or rod (thick welding rod) , bend it into shape or if you have a boilermaker buddy , he can weld one for you.
Good day mr Pj can you you help me with a issue on my mk1 please, when i start my car there is a whinning sound coming from gearbox when i press clutch it goes away but when released it comes back i already changed the bearing and 1.5l gearbox oil?
PJ I am still having issues with my pedal sitting below the brake pedal when resting. I have adjusted the cable correctly, replaced the pedal eventually as the original was worn. New bracket on firewall and new cable but still no fix
@@pjs-golfmk1-diy Are you talking about the rubber grommet that goes through the firewall and the arm rod (lack of a better word) goes through the grommet and onto the clutch pedal?
Yes. Just ensure it' sits in there nice and secure....And also, Did u try to adjust the cable higher so that the pedal can raise bit more(level with brake pedal)
After machanic changed clutch kit on my Golf. He tied the cable to be too strong. The car felt compressed when driving and the gears were slipping as if the clutch kit is old. Could this be that the cable is too tied? Or it's something else?
Great content. Please do not stop.
Man I've been waiting for this video for ages! Thank you!

What is the length size of mk1 clutch cable? I have tried to adjust it but my clutch becomes too soft or stiff what could be the problem

Did u put in the rubber grommet that shud fit into the firewall bracket? .. That rubber must push through

Hi. It could be that your mechanic adjusted the clutch cable to tight.
My clutch cable keeps breaking and is too tight. Tried everything. Gearbox maybe?
my clutch cabble keep snaping from the inside where the head is hooked on the clutch pedal.
It could be that it's not properly aligned.. It needs to run straight to the peddle. Double check on that
Dankie oom
Plesier meneer.. :)
I'm busy with a project car
Good morning Grootman. I would like to ask that where can i get the stabilizer rod?
Morning.. I'm sure u cud try Goldwagen.. If not I'm sure one can make the Rod.. Just need thick wire.
