You should check out dude from big truck big RV. He thinks a big truck is a F450! He finally got in a Mack sleeper. The 389’s best hot rod on the road.
What an eye catcher of a unit. Is it possible that maybe you can put some numbers on the thread here to let us know if I walked over to your lot when I could expect? At my age I really don't like my job enough to want to stay there and something like this could just about make me want to do a switch..
As a former dump truck owner I hate to say it, but no. We have not built a new dump truck at my dealership in almost 3 years. You can bet I will make a video of the next one.
I thought the aero trucks were going to take over, don't get me wrong, the 389 is what a truck is suppose to look like, but fuel milage is a big thing.
yeah weight differences on dsh and dsp rears is minimal the clutch and drivelines are the biggest weight gains. and that's not all that much. I got a kw with the same specs I actually like the heavier drivelines. bigger yokes, and ujoints handle the torque better
Steve, to nit pick. That's not a speaker for the phone. It's the mic for the phone. When the phone is "paired" you hear the conversation from the stereo speakers.
millitaryfool , Just wondering something here I do not drive a truck but is there an advantage to having a short wheelbase truck probably for maneuvering? or is there some other reasons why a short base truck might be maybe a little better . if you could explain that appreciate it thanks..
Ash qelon Indeed. i pull tanks. Always inside tight plants. I currently have a 280 wheelbase. and its a little to much. Manuvering is the problem in tight areas. pulling tanks.
The longer wheelbase, makes the truck ride better, and weight distribution simpler to manage... and to have more Fuel capacity... 300" is about as long as I'd want for a truck.. But if you want a more better turning radius, the 579 is the best riding, more roomy, quieter, and a 82" sleeper, you can dress it up, like the 389, and have a beautiful truck..
Just a beautiful looking truck man! The shape of it just does it for me. It looks like a vehicle that commands respect!
Yep
Old Steve sure knows how to set-up the PETE's.
Thanks D

Hey Peterbilt Steve, Love your videos. Do you have any videos of any dump trucks??
As a former dump truck owner I hate to say it, but no. We have not built a new dump truck at my dealership in almost 3 years. You can bet I will make a video of the next one.

Not yet
Smokey and the bandit trucks still around
Oh yeah
Just curious Steve with the purchase of a new car they fill it up for you does the same apply when you buy a new Big Truck ?
thats a negative ghostrider....
That would easily cost them six figures a year considering they are probably selling the trucks with around 50 gallons in them
This might be stupid. But idk, The exhaust is complete straight... Doesnt it fill with water?
There is enough pressure, and the high heat, to get the water out...
Or you drill small holes in the lowest part of the exhaust, for weep holes, to keep it drained...
It will catch some if parked
You have a nice truck steve how did you got the cb in your truck in amrican truck simulator on the pc j need one 🤓
Thanks Kaz!
I want this!!! But you are going have to put the tall Fatman plate in the driver's seat!!!
Do it all the time!
yeah
weight differences on dsh and dsp rears is minimal
the clutch and drivelines are the biggest weight gains.
and that's not all that much.
I got a kw with the same specs
I actually like the heavier drivelines.
bigger yokes, and ujoints handle the torque better
and I wanted to add this
Steve
you spec your orders rather smartly
well done
Thank you, I take that as quite the compliment
Where are you relocating the air horn too
Under the cab
How did you move the quarter fenders back from factory mounts?
They just unbolt
I’ll buy it!!! APU too!
Where are the horns hidden? Or did I miss them?
Under the cab
😍😍😍😍
How much will this truck cost me with apu added?
176
Peterbilt Steve, is that "out the door"?
Beautiful truck.
Thanks
Beautiful truck top truck
Thank you
How do you keep yourself warm and cool when needed. Without idling?
APU, or just a bunk heater... or Optimized Idle...
delmonte30 epu, idle air
What they said
What would this exact truck with gray interior and black exterior paint cost? How much with an APU?
$167000 plust 10500 for the apu
Thanks for the response.
What kind of lease options do you run on these trucks?
no sir
Ok thanks for the info.
Steve, to nit pick. That's not a speaker for the phone. It's the mic for the phone. When the phone is "paired" you hear the conversation from the stereo speakers.
He knows that, he just misspoke.. All of us drivers that have sence knows that...
Thanks SamO, i did misspeak....
one day I want to buy a new Pete. brand new.!
Come on
How long can you finance a truck like this for?
How much extra do you guys charge for automatic
roughly 8k
Steve, can one order those seats in brown leather?
You can Only get the Atlas Seats in black or grey, any other color, would be national seat, or Seats Inc. Legacy series any color you want...
Not from the factory but I keep the brown/tan seats on hand if a customer wants me to trade them out.
Clearly you sell more long base trucks! Because thats all you post. Can you throw shorter wheel base trucks in the mix?
millitaryfool ,
Just wondering something here I do not drive a truck but is there an advantage to having a short wheelbase truck probably for maneuvering?
or is there some other reasons why a short base truck might be maybe a little better .
if you could explain that appreciate it thanks..
Ash qelon shorter has a better turning radius and most companies won't lease on anything over 265"
Ash qelon Indeed. i pull tanks. Always inside tight plants. I currently have a 280 wheelbase. and its a little to much. Manuvering is the problem in tight areas. pulling tanks.

I have driven the 386, 379, and the 579, the 579 is the better of all...
is it possible to build a truck without so much chrome?
Yes
How much is this truck?
around 165
