I've been playing since Black and White. The Let's Go games were the only games I didn't play at all. While I admit that the graphics are nice and some of the features should be mainstays, I can't stand the catching mechanic and how crushed down everything feels. Every route feels more like an obstacle course more than an area in a region due to the designs of Kanto and Johto with added in overworld spawns.
Exactly. We don't need all of the Go mechanics like capturing or not held items and abilities. But the art style is beautiful in Let's Go. It's THE best looking set of Pokémon games on the switch. It's a great blend of the feel and design we're used to but updated for the modern era. I'd love BW or HGSS in that style.
Too much content is overwhelming, a simple game can just focus on what it’s trying to do and do it well, and not feel all over the place or unpolished. I personally will take a simple game that does what it does well, over a game that’s all over the place, and games with lots of content tend to feel all over the place. In my opinion. Less is more
Pokémon as a series is predictable yet unpredictable at the same time. I believe it was said that Let’s Go was an experiment so I’m not entirely sure about a Let’s Go Johto. It could be an entirely new style of mainline Pokémon, who knows!
Let’s go is also the most polished and best looking Pokémon game in the switch. And it has the best ride mechanics. Given that Kanto is already built and that it’s been 12 years since the last let’s go game, I don’t think it’s crazy to hope that many of your big issues could be fixed. Namely, abilities and held items. I could even see them having toggle options for wild battles, but honestly I never had a problem with that. There are more than enough trainer battles in the over world and everyone seemed to love it in Arceus. Also, Let’s go had mega evolution so I don’t know why you wouldn’t expect it to be present. The ease of the game and over leveling is a terrible argument because every Pokémon game released since has been the same way with exp share and Small medium and large candies. No one is making you use the candies. Then later you complain about being asked to up to level 100? It’s also the Pokémon game on the switch that I have relayed the most because it’s so streamlined. The only interesting argument you made was that these Pokémon are already on the switch, but so are almost all of the Pokémon at this point. I agree that I’d rather get nothing than let’s go games, but I’d rather get let’s go games than almost anything else. (The exception being GB/GBA games on NSO as those won’t take a significant amount of development time). I think they have a chance of being finished and upgraded from the previous let’s go entry given the 12 year gap. I don’t think it’s realistic that anything else is ready to be released in a finished and polished state.
it doesnt have to be a full pokemon Go style lets go game it could look similar or exactly like the first lets go but they scrap the catching game style because pokemon go is not what is use to be so i welcome the idea but if the catching system is the same it can miss me
the way i would do it is you do catch them using the throwing style but battling them changes how it behaves and the catch chance and you can just ko them for the exp. evolve the system now that the go-lets go fans have gotten used to the battle system they can get a better understanding of the catching system. it is too late to remedy this but i would put the tutorial outside of kanjoh anywhere we have not been as a native. i do not know wether red or chase or elaine should be on mt silver, red should not have been in lets go to begin with. that story choice was a crime. regardless of who it is the mt silver battle has the entire team with max stats, as they went through every system to get as strong as possible, including a souped up but ballanced max affection. there but not to a point of not being fun.

The story of gen 2 is mostly just picking up after the remains of team rocket but content wise and exploration wise they were grear. I would like like a Johto game that has lets go graffics, traditional pokemon mechanics, terastalization, an improved level curve, improved gym leader teams, and gen 2 evolutiond introduced in gens 4 and 9.
And don't forget Johto Pokémon in Johto, not in Kanto postgame 😁 Yeah, still mad especially about Houndour, one of my most favourite Pokémon, being only in Kanto. Which made absolutly no sense.

For me the pokemon remakes where always abput adding all the new pokemon and mechanics to older games, so now that the national dex no longer exists there no point in playing a remake over the original games.
The worst part about a Let's GO Johto is that it won't even have the additions/improvements from Crystal. It'll also end at 251 with Celebi as opposed to the 483 available in HGSS. So an objectively worse way to experience Johto compared to games we've already had. Plus Celebi'll likely be locked behind a £50 Pokéball controller again instead of actually catchable in-game. Also wouldn't surprise me if Kanto wasn't even accessible as post-game. Unless it's made into DLC. Because minimal effort is GameFreak's trademark at this point.
I dont think they will do another lets go type game because pokemon go has had a sharp decline for 1 and the game was recieved pretty poorly. do i think they will do johto games oh yeah aboslutely they want to capitalize on the popularity that is johto but i dont think it will be lets go. could they do a legends game possibly but i think it will be a remake of johto with some slight improvements
Johto shouldve just been DLC for Pikachu and Eevee... I really dont see people spending full game price for the opportunity to catch 100 (mostly weak and unevolving) Pokemon more than in Kanto, with the minimal story of Johto
Heart Gold & Soul Silver remakes were near-perfect remakes imo. You could tell the care and love they put in to top the original. I just don't trust modern TPC/Gamefreak to do it the same justice.
At the end of the day, it’s not solely about the mons, but the region as a whole people want to see. Johto is known for its amazing environmental storytelling despite generally lacking in multiple departments so it honestly is very well suited for a Let’s Go style game. LGPE has the best iteration of the Kanto region to date(that is design wise, gameplay wise FRLG is superior). That was as GF’s first entry on the system. Now imagine that for a region whose design is what most stands out about it two generations into the switch era. It’s hard not to see what people are excited about. I also think that what people generalize as being “tired of Kanto” was in reality “tired of Kanto pandering.” Let’s Go followed two generations heavy on the Kanto love already. People would be upset if Johto remakes didn’t have Kanto because the Kanto postgame is a part of Johto’s identity. You can’t really call it pandering to include Kanto here to begin with so it wouldn’t be an issue. The only thing GF absolutely needs to do is fix the encounters which is a gripe for any Johto remake.
i think that we will not get kanto this year but we will get johto, the post game being moved to unova, because of the constanbt kanto pandering complaints.

Legends Arceus and Lets Go are the best Pokemon games on the Switch. And I say this as someone who thought LGPE looked stupid af when it was revealed, I thought it was a waste but gave it a chance and ended up shocked by how good it was. If they just let you battle wild pokemon in Lets Go it would be a god tier remake and all its haters would be on board, easy fix. At the end of the day though go catching was also a refreshing way to play through the game.

I thought about this too but like you said they do change up the formula. This Pokemon Day feels the most mysterious of the past few years. While gen 2 and 5 are the most talked about I feel like it might just be some spinoffs and a new mythical event. With a tease for a new legends game. I don't feel like a traditional pokemon game will release this year. 3 more days though

The one big positive to Lets Go's mechanics is that the catching chains allow you to fit more Pokemon into smaller areas. It was really nice to have easy access to Chansey and Kangaskhan far earlier than they'd be available in the original. This could easily solve a major flaw of the Johto region by allowing you to catch every Johto Pokemon in the Johto region instead of having a good number of them stuck in the post game. Also, Mega Evolution was in the first Lets Go, so I highly doubt they'd remove it for a sequel. Would much prefer a Mystery Dungeon game, but I'll take a Lets Go game over Gen 5 remakes any day

I believe that, precisely because Let's Go was made to capitalize on Go's success at the time, a new Let's Go now isn't even a possibility or at least one much smaller than a new Legends game. Given how we always get new gen→remake there's an argument to be made if, the same way gen 1 got another remake, gen 2 will get as well meaning this year we could see a Crystal remake (much like Let's Go was a Yellow remake) but in a different formula, maybe closer to Legends, maybe entirely new. Realistically tho, there's far too much Unova content in SV to ignore and say that BW remakes aren't on the table since the game that precedes a remake always features heavy influence from the old region and the gap between its release and bdsp would be the same as bdsp and Let's Go or it and ORAS, so Unova is the best contender for this year, be it a Legends, B3W3 or a regular remake. And of course there's always the possibility that Game Freak went insane and we're getting both Johto and Unova this year but even if that is the case I don't think we'll be seeing a Let's Go
i do think we will get a johto remake this year, and it will have unova as a post game. why? because we would riot if we go to kanto ever again, or so game freak thinks, but johto cant stand on its own as a singular region, if the took away getting to visit another region from the only game to have it we would absolutley and justifyably riot.
@@Markcrazeer I do not believe that Game Freak thinks we don't want Kanto again. The majority of the fandom hated the chibi style and there's a solid chance that's what we're getting for the next remake so as long as what they put out is getting sold there's no reason for Game Freak to change their approach. Other than that, this is just a bad idea, Kanto is important to Johto, both for the characters and the pokemon we find there, it doesn't make sense to take Kanto out and put any other region there and making Unova of all places a post game would be just weird, it's a very big region with a vast story, a game like that would either mean throwing it all away or making a completely new story and I don't think either are likely. If I had to put my money on it I'd bet in getting one game for each region this year, as unlikely as it is, before even considering a Johto-Unova game

Literally nothing has changed to justify GF moving away from Kanto out of fear of a fandom revolt, specially now that we are so close to the 30th anniversary, the fact that there was so little of Kanto in SV (and that's with it still being the main region in the new anime as far as I've seen) only tells me that they'll go specially hard with it during gen 10 so why not start now? Your entire solution to the problems I pointed out are just taking things out and patching what was broken because of it with silver tape, what's the point of making Unova the post game map if they're going to cut things out when you could just have the whole Kanto Region plus Mt Silver. As for the story, yeah, most pokémon game don't have a lot of it but this is not the case with Unova, its story is THE main reason people love gen 5, even if you moved things around for the timeline to connect GS and BW it would still mean that BW's original story would be severely dumbed down to fit into the game after you explored the whole of Johto and that's just not ideal or reasonable in any circumstance specially if you're just doing this to avoid a few loud people complaining about seeing Kanto again. Want to see a real solution? Make the post game of this new Johto remake the past. There are like at least four pokémon that can make you time travel at this point and one of them is Celebi so it just fits, you can keep the main story basically the same but also have some hints scattered around that something is not right and after beating the League we get to meet Celebi who sends us to the past to fix whatever distortion happened there, could even throw the terastalization into the mix to justify the timeline being broken and so instead of being just regular Kanto the post game is the two regions in its beginning, could even be that they're only one region and have a different name like it was with Hisui becoming Sinnoh and the best thing out of all of this is that you just... Don't waste Unova like that and can make an actual remake of it in the future

ok, lets go johto not having a gimmick is nonsense, if you are right that applies to any remake, at that point you might as well ask them to not release a single game untol gen 10. lets go pikachu and eevee had megas in them. the only reason they wouldnt bring a gimmick over is becaue they have set their sights on these gimmicks being game exclusives. (to go with their obsession with each game having a stupid little thing that makes you want to replay it. and still they cut the battle frontiers.)
I feel the need to argue against some of your points. First, about resources and manpower. They are absolutely gonna release a game this year no matter what and any game they release will take away resources and manpower, not just a Let's Go game. On the contrary, Let's Go Johto would probably be the game that would take the least amount of resources, barring another ILCA remake, and I don't know about you, but I'd much rather get Let's Go Johto than a BDSP-like remake of HGSS. You also seem adamant that a Let's Go Johto game could not possibly have any battle gimmick despite the fact that the original Let's Go games had Mega Evolution. LGPE also had all of the alolan regional variants, which you ignored when talking about the available Pokémon in those games. Would it be my preferred option? probably not. They could easily take the LGPE framework, tweak it a little and do an ORAS-style remake instead. But you are making it sound much worse than it would probably be. Like them or hate them, LGPE are the most polished Pokémon games on the switch, with no significant bugs or performance issues and the best implementation of the following Pokémon mechanic to date.

I've been hoping to go back to johto sense 2015 but now in 2024 I lm giving up hope and now watching pokemon presents for 2024 I'm done sure maybe johto doesn't have a cool gimmick but tbh I'm tired of all these gimmicks they bring out every new game.
To stray from the main topic a bit, I don’t think black and white remakes are out of the realm of possibility at all. Think about it, every remake has come out two Nintendo handhelds after the generation it remade…RBY on GB -> FRLG on GBA; GSC on GBC -> HGSS on DS; RSE on GBA -> ORAS on 3DS; DPP on DS -> BDSP on Switch…so BW on DS also means BW remakes on Switch. It only feels like an unprecedented thing to do because getting two generations on the same system was unprecedented at the time of the DS.
What if they use a new Let's Go game to bring the GO players closer to main series and re-introduce abilities and Tera types? Like spoon feeding the newbies. Maybe something like Ho-Oh's "rainbow" aspect allowing it to change type in a special boss battle. Regional Variants also making a return. That could be a nice spin to keep it fresh for everybody
Honestly I seriously doubt a let's go game. They most likely have ILCA doing something instead of game freak. Chop off a bunch of content and make them do chibi upscale for low effort. Let's go would take too much work from a game development point of view. BDSP style would be way easier.
Johto does have a simpler story, but that's not a bad thing, the simpler story exist cause of the way the region is open for the player, crystal and hgss are the Pokémon games with more content from all the franchise, there's so much things to do daily or weekly, schedule events with the gym leaders, schedule battles, rematches, call people, go find outbreaks, go do the bug catch context, the safari zone, the pokeathlon, the voltorb game, the day and night encounters, the lottery and so much overworld dungeons to explore like ilex forest, whirl islands the 2 towers, mount mortar, the 2 dark caves, ice path, Tohjo falls and then all of kanto plus nout silver. It's an amazing region that mostly rewards exploration. The let's go games do gave a weird wild encounter but they also appeal the pokedex filling fans, cause having eveye Kanto Pokémon available on the overworld, feels amazing to complete the pokedex and even drives us tk reply it again only for that, but I can understand how the more battle focus fans dislike let's go, just like the same way the more battle focus fans dislike legends arceus.
What I'd like to see is a finished/modern version of Pokemon Gold/Silver as it was in Spaceworld 1997 when the region was all of Japan (Nihon). Very unlikely though.
Honestly let's go only works for Pikachu and Eevee. Aside from legendary pokemon there are no pokemon from Johto that form such an iconic duo that would be marketable like Pikachu and Eevee were. And it helped that Pikachu was already a mascot of the game they were remaking and Eevee was technically a starter (for your rival anyway) in that same game.
I doubt they’ll give us a let’s go game, after pikachu and eevee came out the Pokémon co said they’d probably never make another let’s go game. I think we’re definitely getting a johto game without question, a direct remake doesn’t make sense, so we’ll probably either get a legends johto game or something completely new
Eh. I’m less terrified of a Let’s Go game than I am of another BDSP style game. Mainly because the Lets Go games are the best looking/optimized games on the switch. The only issues they had were the Pokémon go mechanics. So really the only thing to fear is the POGO style catching mechanics. If Let’s go is announced we can at least be content in knowing the game will look good, and the gameplay will be solid.
In addition to everything mentioned the other big things going against Let’s Go Johto is that not only does Johto not have any prominent “mascot” pokemon like Pikachu or Eevee but as well as Game Freak saying that Let’s Go is just a one time thing unless people are really clamoring for it and for years it hasn’t been the case
Pokémon was good up to gen 3. Colosseum and XD are better than any Pokémon games currently out. Disagree and I’ll snag your Pokémon and sell them to a Palworld player.
If I had to choose I would choose nothing, but if GameFreak has to do something to appease Pokemon Company then the best they can do is give us a legends game. I WILL NOT buy anything else otherwise GameFreak please for the love of god cook your game longer.
I liked Let's Go for what it was, but I don't want another one. If it's a remake of HGSS with Let's Go Graphics I would definitely buy it, because I love that art style, I love Johto and I never played HGSS "legally" but if it's a Let's Go mechanics with only the 251 roster, I think I'll pass this one... like you said, I rather have nothing this year than that
Actually, I wouldn't mind Johto remakes. Just not Let's Go. In fact, I don't want to see the Let's Go series continue. What I really want to see is the implementation of Pokemon Legends-style gameplay in Gen 10. Make one whole region without load times. Add abilities back in. Add following Pokemon. Have multiple cities and routes. And add a fresh, new generation of Pokemon that are all brand-new, like they did in B/W. No Zubats or Geodudes. And for the love of God, don't ever force me to wear a school uniform ever again. Pokemon Trainers are free spirits who follow their own road. I don't need a teacher or NPC telling me what my next mission is. Pokemon is all about discovery.
Megas were in the first "lets go", I don't see why they wouldn't include it for a sequel to that game. Also, I dont see gamefreak adding Kanto into "lets go johto" in the base game. They'll most likely sell us the Kanto post-game as dlc.
Give us...Pokemon Black 3 or Pokemon White 3. Even A Sequel to The Johto Games would be awesome too. Pokemon Electrum(Featuring Mega Evolution OR instead Dynamax because it could use another generation to shine) and Pokemon Terastral Crystal(Featuring Terastillization) or heck simply just Pokemon Gold 2 and Pokemon Silver 2. Unova remakes are not until Gen 10 next year on the next Nintendo System and the Gen 10 official games will be in 2026. A Legends Unova game alongside the Johto Games would be the smarter option because we need to see the OG Dragon ourselves. Pokemon needs a 2D/HD Sprite based game featuring every single region of The Pokemon World. 2D/HD because 3D OPen World with every region is a pipe dream as that is too big to expect right now anyways and seeing Kalos, Alola, Galar and Paldea in Sprite form would be cool asf and with the ability to travel to every one of them in one game would make this series wholesome. They could also have Dynamax/Gigantamax, Z-Moves, Mega Evolution and Terastillization in one single game giving us all more ways to break the games. Prob can't combine them but it would be so fun to Terastillize a Mega-Evolved Mon or even Gigantamax them with the R button on rotation. Terastillized Gigantamaxxed Primal Kyogre or Groudon using Z-Move of their Terastillized Type would be ungodly. Nyuck nyuck.

What I want to get this year is Platinum remake. And please, not one done by ILCA in that same stupid style BDSP had. More like something in PLA graphics, with all the QoL improvements we've got in SV (though I could live without enforced EXP Share) and with some gameplay enhancements, like ORAS and HGSS had. Yeah, I know it's very unlikely we'll get something like that, but I can still wish, can't I? What I think we'll get, however, is Let's Go Johto. And I am pretty sure it will be as painful experience for me, as the original Let's Go games were (though, BDSP were even more painful experience for me and first Pokémon games I almost did not finish). I just hope this time we'll get held items, since those played big role in GSC gameplay. But that's pretty much all hopes I realistically have for those games. However, I would not rule out possibility for Legends game. Johto was established as having rich history and that would be big potential for Legends game. And Johto's connection with Kanto (and in HGSS with Sinnoh as well) gives a lots of options where such game could go.
Bro you literally created the solid foundation on why it would be Gen 5 remakes instead of a legends Johto. The switch is almost out the door. Why do anything else when the can remake Gen 5 and be done with the 2D era remakes before the new console. This way the next remake will at least be a game that was already 3d.
With the Pokemon Presents tomorrow you, I or both of us will be proven wrong, but I have to disagree with you one a few points. I do think we will get a Gen5 Remake since Gen5 broke the mainline release formula back then, as it was to first generation to release on the same console as its predecessor (Gen1 GameBoy, Gen2 GameBoy Color, Gen3 GameBoy Advance, Gen4 Nintendo DS, Gen5 Nintendo DS) so it's remake releasing on the same console as the Gen4 remakes would make sense. Another reason why the delay between remakes were so long was because GameFreak only has 2 teams. Finding the time to fully develop an older pokemon game on a new console took time they sometimes couldn't spare but nowadays they have ILCA who could be developing the Gen5 remakes. This would allow GameFreak to either do same as last time with a Legends game or wait for some months and do the other thing they did last time a new console came out and stick to something they know with a Lets Go Johto game.
Lets go ho oh and lugia professor elm gives you a mysterious egg with baby lugia or ho oh in it. You reunite it with its mother and you end up getting both. No wild battles though i wish there was. Maybe held items no abilities until lets go groudon and kyogre. Also a gs ball plus with a celebii
I hope they do Let's Go Johto, I liked the original games and I think that was by far the most beautiful graphical engine they've used. If they simply built Johto off the assets of LGPE's Kanto, then that would be perfect in my eyes.
Some of the 'negatives' you listed are pluses to me. I despise the gimmicks from recent mainline pokemon games. Crystalized pokemon or giants. Its just ridiculous. I don't play competetively, so any stat benefits mean little and the designs aren't great. I'd like a Johto remake that brought things back to basics. I'd rather a HeartGold/SoulSilver experience but in Lets Go art style. But if its another Lets Go game, i'd be fine. As long as it runs well, it will at least be an upgrade from how Scarlet/Violet released at launch.

I got to be honest. I liked the first pokemon lets go game. But I dont want johto. For the lack of story and for visiting kanto again. I would must rather they di a hoeen or a completly new lets go, where tjey mix things up a bit with pokemon from various gens. But set in a gen 5 and forward. Wasn't the reason the first lets go games were made was to try and bridge the gap between the booming pokemon go playerbase and the mainline games? Sure its still popular but why would they do it again, especially if its not with their most popular "mascot" characters? I'm happy to eat my words if it does happen, it'd just be confusing. Its not guarantee that a new Let's Go would still have the Pokemon Go mechanics and since its Johto is bound to be better than Let's Go because of Kanto included. But if you are dreading so much, I think it would be better we get Pokemon Heart Gold Soul Silver HD Ports or remakes.

I've been playing since Black and White. The Let's Go games were the only games I didn't play at all. While I admit that the graphics are nice and some of the features should be mainstays, I can't stand the catching mechanic and how crushed down everything feels. Every route feels more like an obstacle course more than an area in a region due to the designs of Kanto and Johto with added in overworld spawns.

Exactly. We don't need all of the Go mechanics like capturing or not held items and abilities. But the art style is beautiful in Let's Go. It's THE best looking set of Pokémon games on the switch. It's a great blend of the feel and design we're used to but updated for the modern era. I'd love BW or HGSS in that style.

Pokémon as a series is predictable yet unpredictable at the same time. I believe it was said that Let’s Go was an experiment so I’m not entirely sure about a Let’s Go Johto. It could be an entirely new style of mainline Pokémon, who knows!
Let’s go is also the most polished and best looking Pokémon game in the switch. And it has the best ride mechanics. Given that Kanto is already built and that it’s been 12 years since the last let’s go game, I don’t think it’s crazy to hope that many of your big issues could be fixed. Namely, abilities and held items. I could even see them having toggle options for wild battles, but honestly I never had a problem with that. There are more than enough trainer battles in the over world and everyone seemed to love it in Arceus. Also, Let’s go had mega evolution so I don’t know why you wouldn’t expect it to be present. The ease of the game and over leveling is a terrible argument because every Pokémon game released since has been the same way with exp share and Small medium and large candies. No one is making you use the candies. Then later you complain about being asked to up to level 100? It’s also the Pokémon game on the switch that I have relayed the most because it’s so streamlined.
The only interesting argument you made was that these Pokémon are already on the switch, but so are almost all of the Pokémon at this point.
I agree that I’d rather get nothing than let’s go games, but I’d rather get let’s go games than almost anything else. (The exception being GB/GBA games on NSO as those won’t take a significant amount of development time). I think they have a chance of being finished and upgraded from the previous let’s go entry given the 12 year gap. I don’t think it’s realistic that anything else is ready to be released in a finished and polished state.
it doesnt have to be a full pokemon Go style lets go game it could look similar or exactly like the first lets go but they scrap the catching game style because pokemon go is not what is use to be so i welcome the idea but if the catching system is the same it can miss me
the way i would do it is you do catch them using the throwing style but battling them changes how it behaves and the catch chance and you can just ko them for the exp. evolve the system now that the go-lets go fans have gotten used to the battle system they can get a better understanding of the catching system.
it is too late to remedy this but i would put the tutorial outside of kanjoh anywhere we have not been as a native. i do not know wether red or chase or elaine should be on mt silver, red should not have been in lets go to begin with. that story choice was a crime. regardless of who it is the mt silver battle has the entire team with max stats, as they went through every system to get as strong as possible, including a souped up but ballanced max affection. there but not to a point of not being fun.

The story of gen 2 is mostly just picking up after the remains of team rocket but content wise and exploration wise they were grear. I would like like a Johto game that has lets go graffics, traditional pokemon mechanics, terastalization, an improved level curve, improved gym leader teams, and gen 2 evolutiond introduced in gens 4 and 9.
And don't forget Johto Pokémon in Johto, not in Kanto postgame 😁 Yeah, still mad especially about Houndour, one of my most favourite Pokémon, being only in Kanto. Which made absolutly no sense.

I loved let’s go eevee, I’m tempted to do another playtrough but if I’m honest I want an open world johto not a let’s go.
For me the pokemon remakes where always abput adding all the new pokemon and mechanics to older games, so now that the national dex no longer exists there no point in playing a remake over the original games.
The worst part about a Let's GO Johto is that it won't even have the additions/improvements from Crystal.
It'll also end at 251 with Celebi as opposed to the 483 available in HGSS.
So an objectively worse way to experience Johto compared to games we've already had.
Plus Celebi'll likely be locked behind a £50 Pokéball controller again instead of actually catchable in-game.
Also wouldn't surprise me if Kanto wasn't even accessible as post-game. Unless it's made into DLC. Because minimal effort is GameFreak's trademark at this point.

Johto shouldve just been DLC for Pikachu and Eevee... I really dont see people spending full game price for the opportunity to catch 100 (mostly weak and unevolving) Pokemon more than in Kanto, with the minimal story of Johto
Heart Gold & Soul Silver remakes were near-perfect remakes imo. You could tell the care and love they put in to top the original. I just don't trust modern TPC/Gamefreak to do it the same justice.

At the end of the day, it’s not solely about the mons, but the region as a whole people want to see. Johto is known for its amazing environmental storytelling despite generally lacking in multiple departments so it honestly is very well suited for a Let’s Go style game. LGPE has the best iteration of the Kanto region to date(that is design wise, gameplay wise FRLG is superior). That was as GF’s first entry on the system. Now imagine that for a region whose design is what most stands out about it two generations into the switch era. It’s hard not to see what people are excited about.
I also think that what people generalize as being “tired of Kanto” was in reality “tired of Kanto pandering.” Let’s Go followed two generations heavy on the Kanto love already. People would be upset if Johto remakes didn’t have Kanto because the Kanto postgame is a part of Johto’s identity. You can’t really call it pandering to include Kanto here to begin with so it wouldn’t be an issue. The only thing GF absolutely needs to do is fix the encounters which is a gripe for any Johto remake.

As someone who's not a fan of any version of Kanto by itself, I think it would be an L if whatever Johto remake we get didn't have it.
Legends Arceus and Lets Go are the best Pokemon games on the Switch. And I say this as someone who thought LGPE looked stupid af when it was revealed, I thought it was a waste but gave it a chance and ended up shocked by how good it was.
If they just let you battle wild pokemon in Lets Go it would be a god tier remake and all its haters would be on board, easy fix. At the end of the day though go catching was also a refreshing way to play through the game.

I thought about this too but like you said they do change up the formula. This Pokemon Day feels the most mysterious of the past few years. While gen 2 and 5 are the most talked about I feel like it might just be some spinoffs and a new mythical event. With a tease for a new legends game. The one big positive to Lets Go's mechanics is that the catching chains allow you to fit more Pokemon into smaller areas. It was really nice to have easy access to Chansey and Kangaskhan far earlier than they'd be available in the original. This could easily solve a major flaw of the Johto region by allowing you to catch every Johto Pokemon in the Johto region instead of having a good number of them stuck in the post game. Also, Mega Evolution was in the first Lets Go, so I highly doubt they'd remove it for a sequel. Would much prefer a Mystery Dungeon game, but I'll take a Lets Go game over Gen 5 remakes any day

A few of those "leaks" Riddler Cue did leave egg on his face, when people got angry at him due to some of them being wrong regarding the 2nd DLC.
I believe that, precisely because Let's Go was made to capitalize on Go's success at the time, a new Let's Go now isn't even a possibility or at least one much smaller than a new Legends game.
Given how we always get new gen→remake there's an argument to be made if, the same way gen 1 got another remake, gen 2 will get as well meaning this year we could see a Crystal remake (much like Let's Go was a Yellow remake) but in a different formula, maybe closer to Legends, maybe entirely new.
Realistically tho, there's far too much Unova content in SV to ignore and say that BW remakes aren't on the table since the game that precedes a remake always features heavy influence from the old region and the gap between its release and bdsp would be the same as bdsp and Let's Go or it and ORAS, so Unova is the best contender for this year, be it a Legends, B3W3 or a regular remake.
And of course there's always the possibility that Game Freak went insane and we're getting both Johto and Unova this year but even if that is the case I don't think we'll be seeing a Let's Go
i do think we will get a johto remake this year, and it will have unova as a post game. why? because we would riot if we go to kanto ever again, or so game freak thinks, but johto cant stand on its own as a singular region, if the took away getting to visit another region from the only game to have it we would absolutley and justifyably riot.

The majority of the fandom hated the chibi style and there's a solid chance that's what we're getting for the next remake so as long as what they put out is getting sold there's no reason for Game Freak to change their approach.
Other than that, this is just a bad idea, Kanto is important to Johto, both for the characters and the pokemon we find there, it doesn't make sense to take Kanto out and put any other region there and making Unova of all places a post game would be just weird, it's a very big region with a vast story, a game like that would either mean throwing it all away or making a completely new story and I don't think either are likely. If I had to put my money on it I'd bet in getting one game for each region this year, as unlikely as it is, before even considering a Johto-Unova game

yes you are right they would not be remaking the unova story, and yes the map is fucing massive. (part of that can be remedied by cutting the southern areas and humilau.) the story is primarily a timeline problem, two problems, we dont know when ghetsis's take overs took place compared to neo team rocket take over of golden rod, and hilbert, hilda, nate, and rosa are the ones to deal with them not eathan and lyra, exept that it is years after because the guy that sabotaged the power plant moves to iccirus and sabrina is an actress.

(please remedy this issue there has to be some oportunist filling the power vacuum.) the only thing they need to do is take the unova characters we know, de age them by like 15 years ad a few more and find out how that affects the leauge. And yet they keep doing it... So why stop now? Literally nothing has changed to justify GF moving away from Kanto out of fear of a fandom revolt, specially now that we are so close to the 30th anniversary, the fact that there was so little of Kanto in SV (and that's with it still being the main region in the new anime as far as I've seen) only tells me that they'll go specially hard with it during gen 10 so why not start now?
Your entire solution to the problems I pointed out are just taking things out and patching what was broken because of it with silver tape, what's the point of making Unova the post game map if they're going to cut things out when you could just have the whole Kanto Region plus Mt Silver.
As for the story, yeah, most pokémon game don't have a lot of it but this is not the case with Unova, its story is THE main reason people love gen 5, even if you moved things around for the timeline to connect GS and BW it would still mean that BW's original story would be severely dumbed down to fit into the game after you explored the whole of Johto and that's just not ideal or reasonable in any circumstance specially if you're just doing this to avoid a few loud people complaining about seeing Kanto again.
Want to see a real solution? Make the post game of this new Johto remake the past. There are like at least four pokémon that can make you time travel at this point and one of them is Celebi so it just fits, you can keep the main story basically the same but also have some hints scattered around that something is not right and after beating the League we get to meet Celebi who sends us to the past to fix whatever distortion happened there, could even throw the terastalization into the mix to justify the timeline being broken and so instead of being just regular Kanto the post game is the two regions in its beginning, could even be that they're only one region and have a different name like it was with Hisui becoming Sinnoh and the best thing out of all of this is that you just... Don't waste Unova like that and can make an actual remake of it in the future

I feel the need to argue against some of your points. First, about resources and manpower. They are absolutely gonna release a game this year no matter what and any game they release will take away resources and manpower, not just a Let's Go game. On the contrary, Let's Go Johto would probably be the game that would take the least amount of resources, barring another ILCA remake, and I don't know about you, but I'd much rather get Let's Go Johto than a BDSP-like remake of HGSS.
You also seem adamant that a Let's Go Johto game could not possibly have any battle gimmick despite the fact that the original Let's Go games had Mega Evolution. LGPE also had all of the alolan regional variants, which you ignored when talking about the available Pokémon in those games.
Would it be my preferred option? probably not. They could easily take the LGPE framework, tweak it a little and do an ORAS-style remake instead. But you are making it sound much worse than it would probably be. Like them or hate them, LGPE are the most polished Pokémon games on the switch, with no significant bugs or performance issues and the best implementation of the following Pokémon mechanic to date.

To stray from the main topic a bit, I don’t think black and white remakes are out of the realm of possibility at all. Think about it, every remake has come out two Nintendo handhelds after the generation it remade…RBY on GB -> FRLG on GBA; GSC on GBC -> HGSS on DS; RSE on GBA -> ORAS on 3DS; DPP on DS -> BDSP on Switch…so BW on DS also means BW remakes on Switch. It only feels like an unprecedented thing to do because getting two generations on the same system was unprecedented at the time of the DS.
What if they use a new Let's Go game to bring the GO players closer to main series and re-introduce abilities and Tera types? Like spoon feeding the newbies. Maybe something like Ho-Oh's "rainbow" aspect allowing it to change type in a special boss battle. Regional Variants also making a return. That could be a nice spin to keep it fresh for everybody

Honestly I seriously doubt a let's go game. They most likely have ILCA doing something instead of game freak. Chop off a bunch of content and make them do chibi upscale for low effort. Let's go would take too much work from a game development point of view. BDSP style would be way easier.
Johto does have a simpler story, but that's not a bad thing, the simpler story exist cause of the way the region is open for the player, crystal and hgss are the Pokémon games with more content from all the franchise, there's so much things to do daily or weekly, schedule events with the gym leaders, schedule battles, rematches, call people, go find outbreaks, go do the bug catch context, the safari zone, the pokeathlon, the voltorb game, the day and night encounters, the lottery and so much overworld dungeons to explore like ilex forest, whirl islands the 2 towers, mount mortar, the 2 dark caves, ice path, Tohjo falls and then all of kanto plus nout silver.
It's an amazing region that mostly rewards exploration.
The let's go games do gave a weird wild encounter but they also appeal the pokedex filling fans, cause having eveye Kanto Pokémon available on the overworld, feels amazing to complete the pokedex and even drives us tk reply it again only for that, but I can understand how the more battle focus fans dislike let's go, just like the same way the more battle focus fans dislike legends arceus.
What I'd like to see is a finished/modern version of Pokemon Gold/Silver as it was in Spaceworld 1997 when the region was all of Japan (Nihon). Very unlikely though.
Honestly let's go only works for Pikachu and Eevee. Aside from legendary pokemon there are no pokemon from Johto that form such an iconic duo that would be marketable like Pikachu and Eevee were. And it helped that Pikachu was already a mascot of the game they were remaking and Eevee was technically a starter (for your rival anyway) in that same game.
I doubt they’ll give us a let’s go game, after pikachu and eevee came out the Pokémon co said they’d probably never make another let’s go game. I think we’re definitely getting a johto game without question, a direct remake doesn’t make sense, so we’ll probably either get a legends johto game or something completely new

Eh. I’m less terrified of a Let’s Go game than I am of another BDSP style game. Mainly because the Lets Go games are the best looking/optimized games on the switch. The only issues they had were the Pokémon go mechanics.
So really the only thing to fear is the POGO style catching mechanics. If Let’s go is announced we can at least be content in knowing the game will look good, and the gameplay will be solid.
In addition to everything mentioned the other big things going against Let’s Go Johto is that not only does Johto not have any prominent “mascot” pokemon like Pikachu or Eevee but as well as Game Freak saying that Let’s Go is just a one time thing unless people are really clamoring for it and for years it hasn’t been the case

Actually, I wouldn't mind Johto remakes. Just not Let's Go. In fact, I don't want to see the Let's Go series continue. What I really want to see is the implementation of Pokemon Legends-style gameplay in Gen 10. Make one whole region without load times. Add abilities back in. Add following Pokemon. Have multiple cities and routes. And add a fresh, new generation of Pokemon that are all brand-new, like they did in B/W. No Zubats or Geodudes. And for the love of God, don't ever force me to wear a school uniform ever again. Pokemon Trainers are free spirits who follow their own road. I don't need a teacher or NPC telling me what my next mission is. Pokemon is all about discovery.

Megas were in the first "lets go", I don't see why they wouldn't include it for a sequel to that game. Also, I dont see gamefreak adding Kanto into "lets go johto" in the base game. They'll most likely sell us the Kanto post-game as dlc.
Give us...Pokemon Black 3 or Pokemon White 3. Even A Sequel to The Johto Games would be awesome too. Pokemon Electrum(Featuring Mega Evolution OR instead Dynamax because it could use another generation to shine) and Pokemon Terastral Crystal(Featuring Terastillization) or heck simply just Pokemon Gold 2 and Pokemon Silver 2. Unova remakes are not until Gen 10 next year on the next Nintendo System and the Gen 10 official games will be in 2026. A Legends Unova game alongside the Johto Games would be the smarter option because we need to see the OG Dragon ourselves.
Pokemon needs a 2D/HD Sprite based game featuring every single region of The Pokemon World. 2D/HD because 3D OPen World with every region is a pipe dream as that is too big to expect right now anyways and seeing Kalos, Alola, Galar and Paldea in Sprite form would be cool asf and with the ability to travel to every one of them in one game would make this series wholesome. They could also have Dynamax/Gigantamax, Z-Moves, Mega Evolution and Terastillization in one single game giving us all more ways to break the games. Prob can't combine them but it would be so fun to Terastillize a Mega-Evolved Mon or even Gigantamax them with the R button on rotation. Terastillized Gigantamaxxed Primal Kyogre or Groudon using Z-Move of their Terastillized Type would be ungodly. Nyuck nyuck.

Even if Game Freak is a partner, they won't announce anything in a partner showcase that is Pokemon.
What I want to get this year is Platinum remake. And please, not one done by ILCA in that same stupid style BDSP had. More like something in PLA graphics, with all the QoL improvements we've got in SV (though I could live without enforced EXP Share) and with some gameplay enhancements, like ORAS and HGSS had. Yeah, I know it's very unlikely we'll get something like that, but I can still wish, can't I?
What I think we'll get, however, is Let's Go Johto. And I am pretty sure it will be as painful experience for me, as the original Let's Go games were (though, BDSP were even more painful experience for me and first Pokémon games I almost did not finish). I just hope this time we'll get held items, since those played big role in GSC gameplay. But that's pretty much all hopes I realistically have for those games.
However, I would not rule out possibility for Legends game. Johto was established as having rich history and that would be big potential for Legends game. And Johto's connection with Kanto (and in HGSS with Sinnoh as well) gives a lots of options where such game could go.
HeartGold and SoulSilver are not playable on Switch. Catching a Pokemon during a playthrough is different than catching it in the post game
Bro you literally created the solid foundation on why it would be Gen 5 remakes instead of a legends Johto. The switch is almost out the door. Why do anything else when the can remake Gen 5 and be done with the 2D era remakes before the new console. This way the next remake will at least be a game that was already 3d.
With the Pokemon Presents tomorrow you, I or both of us will be proven wrong, but I have to disagree with you one a few points. I do think we will get a Gen5 Remake since Gen5 broke the mainline release formula back then, as it was to first generation to release on the same console as its predecessor (Gen1 GameBoy, Gen2 GameBoy Color, Gen3 GameBoy Advance, Gen4 Nintendo DS, Gen5 Nintendo DS) so it's remake releasing on the same console as the Gen4 remakes would make sense. Another reason why the delay between remakes were so long was because GameFreak only has 2 teams. Finding the time to fully develop an older pokemon game on a new console took time they sometimes couldn't spare but nowadays they have ILCA who could be developing the Gen5 remakes. This would allow GameFreak to either do same as last time with a Legends game or wait for some months and do the other thing they did last time a new console came out and stick to something they know with a Lets Go Johto game.
Lets go ho oh and lugia professor elm gives you a mysterious egg with baby lugia or ho oh in it. You reunite it with its mother and you end up getting both. No wild battles though i wish there was. Maybe held items no abilities until lets go groudon and kyogre. Also a gs ball plus with a celebii

I don’t think that LG will be a series. I think that they along with Legends were one offs. Whatever comes next will perhaps also be a one off style
I hope they do Let's Go Johto, I liked the original games and I think that was by far the most beautiful graphical engine they've used. If they simply built Johto off the assets of LGPE's Kanto, then that would be perfect in my eyes.
Some of the 'negatives' you listed are pluses to me. I despise the gimmicks from recent mainline pokemon games. Crystalized pokemon or giants. Its just ridiculous.
I don't play competetively, so any stat benefits mean little and the designs aren't great.
I'd like a Johto remake that brought things back to basics. I'd rather a HeartGold/SoulSilver experience but in Lets Go art style. But if its another Lets Go game, i'd be fine. As long as it runs well, it will at least be an upgrade from how Scarlet/Violet released at launch.

I got to be honest. I liked the first pokemon lets go game. But I dont want johto. For the lack of story and for visiting kanto again. I would must rather they di a hoeen or a completly new lets go, where tjey mix things up a bit with pokemon from various gens. But set in a gen 5 and forward. But I do think you are bang on the banan. With this is what we are going to get

I seriously doubt it will be a let's go game, I think the person who was a big part of the developement said they had no idea what went into a videogame like the mainline series of pokemon and weren't planning on doing another one.
I am in favor of Let's Go Johto, I'll be I would rather have standard series catching and battling, I love it's art style though.

Wasn't the reason the first lets go games were made was to try and bridge the gap between the booming pokemon go playerbase and the mainline games? Sure its still popular but why would they do it again, especially if its not with their most popular "mascot" characters? I'm happy to eat my words if it does happen, it'd just be confusing. Then again, when does gamefreak ever make sense? 💀

What i want to see is a Unova or Jhoto game in the same engine as S/V? or have ties to the lore/story/characters from S/V, i would love that
Its not guarantee that a new Let's Go would still have the Pokemon Go mechanics and since its Johto is bound to be better than Let's Go because of Kanto included. But if you are dreading so much, I think it would be better we get Pokemon Heart Gold Soul Silver HD Ports or remakes.

the let's go games are some of the better switch game. after the underwhelming and buggy, SW&SH, BDSP, and S&V a let's go style game would be a breath of fresh air.
Im also dreading the possibility of a lets go game. Lol I would also rather have nothing over a new Let's Go game, its a complete waste. All I want is a new Legends style game 🔥

I really dislike Let's Go, but not only do I think it will be the next game, but I disagree it has to be as bad as before. the issues with the game were honestly pretty easy to fix and with very little dev time.
