    Yeah it's not just Ebay, it's the whole system. It's way out of hand. Add in the inflation on top of the taxes and fees and we're spinning that hamster wheel basically for food. It's time for us all to pull out- in every way possible. "Thank you sir, may I have another?"

    As a long time seller on EBay I have found that they frame their thieving ways as an “incentive “ rather than punitive. I point to the requirements to print the labels within 24 hours to stay in the top rated category. Many times a buyer is wanting to bid on multiple items ending at different times to combine shipping. This is helpful in to both parties , but EBays algorithm does not allow you to make exceptions to this rule or any others. On top of that, it’s next to impossible to contact any sort of customer service, this is maddening at times.

    Have never sold anything on ebay for this reason i know their fee's are high/getting worse, feel bad for seller's like yourself we'r get'n it both way's. Buying is almost as bad these days, like charging sale's tax's on the shipping itself not to mention having to pay sale's tax's on used item's that where taxed when sold new. Double dipping at it's finest gotta love government if we tried that crap they call it extortion, when they do it they call it good fiscal governance what a load.

      I should have touched on that as well. I paid sales tax to the sellers home state last week and the winner of my auction paid sales tax to my state this week, ON A USED ITEM.
      Cars are even worse here in South Carolina. We pay property tax every year for any vehicle we keep on the road. The state sets the taxable value of your vehicle which is usually higher than actual. There is a high milage deduction that they will make a small allowance for, or if it's new enough you can get a letter from that brands dealership saying what they are actually trading for. SMH

    The administrative creep is killing everything. Ebay was a thriving marketplace, you could get about anything. Now its a chinese bazzar and you are gonna get ripped off eventually. Amazon is going that route too. Im back to wanting to hold the part in my hand and inspect it before I purchase anything. No way would I sell anything now. Most people are going to throw stuff away instead.

    It seems like I've been getting payout as soon as I print a shipping label via Ebay. And they are discounting which is nice but you paid for part of that by the fee on your shipping cost. I have several heavy, very expensive items for local pickup only. This presents a problem because you ain't pickin up nothin unless there's money in my bank. After discussing with Ebay, they think its ok to show it pickup up when you're about to meet the pickup person. Another alternative is a cashier's check. And always meet in public places nowadays.

    Ebay casual seller dodged a bullet this month (April 15th). For professionals, getting a 1099K is not a problem but if you sell any ONE item for $600 or more, you will get a 1099K. It used to be 200 items and $20,000. Where this really sucks is if you are a casual seller like myself, selling items I've owned for a long time for my personal use. An old clock or vase from the family, dad's old chainsaw, collection of tools, etc. For your personal use, you probably didn't save receipts as you would for a business. So now, your items have zero basis and the selling price is pure profit. This is pure bullshit. I recently semi retired and am selling equipment from my own lab that I've had for years. Much of it still gets significant sell prices. Apparently there was enough pushback from Ebay and their lobby efforts, Etsy, Paypal and the public in general and the IRS has pushed this out 1 year. Still sucks, especially to get hit with 15% on top of Ebay's 13%. And, Richard, beware because there is no such thing as "seller does not accept returns". Ebay has been all about buyer protection and will force you to issue a return.

    Everything old is new again, buying is good on eBay. Selling is not so good, forums and 3rd party payment services are now relevant again. To be able to sit on an item is something else.

      @richardflagg3084  Год назад

      I, like you paid sales tax and shipping when I bought it several weeks ago. Ebay is shamelessly charging 13.25% on top of those costs. It has been about two years now that states have been collecting sales tax on internet purchases. The residents of those states see little benefit from this revenue IMHO.
      The $87 I paid in fees to Ebay is what I was focusing on in this video. I hope it didn't come across any other way. I feel Ebay is entitled to a portion of the proceeds, but this seems a little "tall". It's sad to think how reasonable this transaction would have been without all the fees and taxes on a used piece of equipment.
