Would it be possible to perform a sand brake turn? Not just beaching and then turning, but lining up, ramming the beach at high-speed with your broad side by turning hard just before you hit it, and then using the bounce and braking to turn fluidly (or as fluidly as possible) to wherever you wanted to turn. It seems possible, but not useful in too many situations. You could, of course, do it just because it's called a sand-brake turn.
Jingles, I was not Ragging you about not using premium consumables. Just made the point that you don't use them. I just think an extra smoke and reduced cool down for silver is well worth it. Keep old the good work youngen.
Jingles, regarding 3rd fight: the catapult fighter is not useless. Start him, when there is a destroyer nearby and you dont know where exactly. The plane will probably find out, where he is :)

Jingles, I believe the person suggesting premium consumables was referring to premium repairs, premium AA, etc. You can switch these out for ones with faster cooldown and (where applicable) an extra charge. You do not have to spend dubloons to get them, though that is the default option; simply click on the price tag, where you can switch it to normal credits.
Sounds like a plan. I just recently started to do the same thing. I stayed away from ranked because I did not think I was good enough. But, after watching this you've given me the confidence and incentive to try ranked battles. Thanks.
Great video. Never having played ranked battles, I knew nothing about it - very informative. On torps and bbs - ships sometimes change course/speed to counter torp threats only to maneuver back into their path.

Why would anyone criticize what you do Jingles? How ungrateful can they be? If they think there is a better way, then they can start their own show. Personally I love everything he is and does (and no I'm already married Jingles, so keep your hat on). He's the reason I got involved in War Thunder and now in World of Warships. The fact that Jingles has been in the navy for so many years automatically adds to the credibility of his observations and advice. He has given everything you need to know to play these games competently, and for free! So shut your silly mouths and earn the right to insult him properly!!
I've also found Ranked Battles to have much less douchebag saturation than random battles in general. There tends to be more teamwork with people more willing to follow a plan than argue it. Of course there are exceptions, as your vide proved. Still, with the rewards you get and smaller number of ships in each game, ranked is def the way to go if you are an above average player. On another note, the WoW videos have been particularly good lately. I really like 35-45 minute videos, cuz it's like gettin a TV length show everyday. The Mingles episode a couple weeks ago when you discussed Midway was as good as any RUclips video I've ever seen. I hope you continue to put up quality like this for years to come, and I thank you for it. Here's to the next 500,000!

Ranked battle in WoWS is really where the most fun in the game are... pretty often there are actual team play, people talk to each other, the enemy team is often good, making the battles more challenging, and it is actually rather easy for new players to get into the game... Why it took WarGamming so long time to start a new season I don't know... But I am really glad that they got it started!
The ranked battles have become my favorite game mode. The mode encourages more active teamwork than any random battle. Unless you end up on a team filled with window licking morons, which does not happen as often as it does in randoms. Keep up the great work Jingles. And plz more ship reviews.

As a tip: use the Hydrosonic Scan to increase your torpedo detection options. DDs are the bigger threat, CVs are quite rare. And, you can help allies to use their WASD-hack instead of watching them blunder into the 533mm love.
Jingles on Friday May 24-25 I'm taking part of a visit and over night stay on the Iowa class battleship Uss New Jersey in Camden, New Jersey. Ah Jingles, nice to know you have the same issues. Recently I had some child (who died before me) call me a noob for not coming out of cover to engage a KV-1 when I had a gun that was 100% incapable of penetrating it. We were the last two tanks. I said "you lose" and drove out in front of the KV-1 and waited.
Rank 16 is where things get hairy, at least for me. You're so close to the magical number 15, but you also have a long way to fall if you get a series of bad games. It's gotten to the point where I play the Fuso exclusively on Ranked because I play best in that ship. Even if I lose, I usually get High Caliber and top exp. Also, never forget the Ultimate Rule of Ranked Battles: always stay with your team.
Teamwork. I remember a game on ocean. The enemy team had one member that accidentally posted in all chat "Right we're going to B and C then". Wouldn't you know it, our team and their team aside from 1 DD all went to B and C. It was the shortest game on ocean I ever played because both teams almost annihilated each other in ~5 minutes.
I retrained my Kagero captain, who happens to have the concealment expert skill, for my Fujin. It was even sneakier than what you experienced with the similar Kamikaze R. I breezed through those levels after that. I'm currently at 12, working my Hatsuharu.
Yes, but WG stated that they were never going to put the Kamikaze in the game because of its name and thus released the the fujin. The community said in no uncertain terms that they were fine with the name Kamikaze and asked the developers if they could rename the Fujin to Kamikaze. Developers said no, then a month and half later they repainted the Fujin and called it the Kamikaze. Thus the Kamikaze is a reskin of the Fujin.
+Pablo Schoots 22500 isn't much for at least damage control party, especially with WoWs increased silver earnings compared to WoT. If they didn't have quicker cooldowns I wouldn't bother but that 30 seconds can change an outcome of a match.
Gunther08 yeah okay but only for the damage control party using a premium. If you use all premium consumables then you be set back 67.500 credits each match, you'll barely make any money.
67k credits is not hard to make for a mid-tier ship. Most ships don't need more than two premium consumables to be competitive anyway. All ships are better off with premium Damage Control, but beyond that BBs only need repair, DDs only need smoke and CAs only need Defensive Fire (if applicable). Premium catapult planes are usually surplus to requirements. Indianapolis is a special case and probably would also need premium radar, but it's a premium ship so it makes buckets of credits anyway.
Shaw Fujikawa I know it's not hard to make. I'll still be making a profit, but it'll be so little. Then again you alright about the consumables, usually only needs two of them.
For up to rank 15, I can recommend the Budyonny. I had tonnes of fun with it. Haven't used it since but it probably is also sufficient for rank 15 and above.
Ranked battles are a good idea, especially now that they have that "you don't lose a star if you've done well" thing. However, finding a match at the higher ranks can take some time, even on the EU server because Wows has a small community and most of the players aren't even interested in playing ranked battles.
24:50 - You could have also complimented the Fujin driver for being helpful in chat. After all, he added just a tiny bit of extra flavour to this video in a way that would, for instance, never have occurred to me, had I been in his position. ;)
At games two, Fujin had a point. New Mexico didn't need your help to pummel the Aoba, but if you stayed around B and harassed the enemy ships trying to cap, your team might have been able to fight the rest of the battle with enough flexibility from cap lead.
It's funny because I always thought ranked battles were out of my reach because I thought you needed tier 7 ships - so after finally getting it, it was to my dismay revealed T6 would do it fine, 3 days before this video haha
That "AFK" Minekaze in the first match was actually not loaded into the match. You can tell becasue his forward and aft guns were all in the neutral position. If the player was loaded into the match then all of his guns would have been more or less pointed in the same direction as his view.
Ya know, it is entirely possible that the first New Mexico you hit at the end simply forgot that the Japanese cruisers have torpedoes. After all, he wouldn't be the first person to forget that cruisers have torpedoes
Hi Jingles, great video as usual. Just one small correction from me. You are going to loose star at the intermediate ranks (22, 21, 20, 18, 15 and so on) The only thing save is the rank. And be sure I know what I am talking about. I managed to get to rank 14 so far and since than I got a few teams that really sucked and a few times I also managed to contribute enough that my team lost. And I am now back at rank 15 without any star and now I need again 4 victories in a row to advance to 14 again.
Ahhhh yes Ranked... That whole bit on how much influence you have on the game thanks to the smaller teams is very very true...how do I know this? Well I'm up to rank 5 and my ranked win rate is exactly 60% :D (yes I am very proud of that if you haven't noticed.
With reference to your teams talking to one another and not just hurling insults, I was playing War Thunder the other day (had just been given an hour's test drive in that Russian rocket tank [BM-8-24] so was making the most of it) and got put into a game where one member of my team did absolutely nothing except bitch about how everyone was driving T-34s and he even started shooting at team mates. My rocket tank got annihilated so I got into my backup vehicle - a T-34 - the highest ranking vehicle I had left. Needless to say it only took about five minutes for the opposing team to drive us all back to the spawn point and slaughter the lot of us wholesale. A more decisive loss I've not seen in a long time.
Ranked is pretty fun this time since they've made the highest tier 7 which allowed my full participation. Currently sitting at rank 8, hope all of you are doing good as well.
I tried ranked battles the first time after watching this vid. I *really* hope it gets better further up the ranks. The fist half-dozen games were *dismal* (despite winning all of them except the last). Battleships steaming backwards from spawn. Everybody going half-speed to make someone else become the target. *Worse* teamplay than in randoms (!!!). The game mode is nice, the player base is trying to live on two shared brain cells.
I've always done that actually. There are specific channels where I *always* like and favorite the video first, then start watching. I don't understand why people consider that weird. Some content-providers you just *know* to keep giving you only the best quality content. Why not like and fav first? :)
DeutscherDummer Good thing it's easy to dislike the video if you decide you don't like it. Unlike in the old RUclips, the likes/dislikes are dynamic, as opposed to permanent once you've chosen one way or another.
I open pretty much every match (Assuming I hadn't gone full Francis the last match and am sulky) the following advice: "Stick together, call targets with F3 and support your BBs. Do not be a Rambo. Rambos lose matches." If I'm in a DD, I try to snake the opposite cap and run back. Nothing like having a 2-0 cap advantage to open the match.
Yeah I was playing ranked and loved it. when you got a good team the game was great and most of the bad teams you can make some benefit from. The issue why i have stopped playing World of warships is that I have been having connection issues and freeze frame issues way to often and it has cost me in ships and being a useful part of a team, which really starts to bite. Now before anyone jumps in and say that is what you get for using an old computer with a crappy video card statements. the computer in question is a lenovo D20 w/ two quad core Xeon procesors and a CAD certified video card 24GB of ram on the computer and 2GB on the video card. I love the level of detail and extremely accurate arcs of fire and reasonable balance of capabilities in the game being ex-services myself and some one from the "bad" old of table top gaming. I enjoyed it a lot. I don't enjoy when the glitches get to the point of causes noticeable issues with play. Will still watch, as you put on a great channel Jingles; but even though I got to level 13 (was two wins from 12) I most likely won't be going back to play.

Even if there is no carriers, your catapult fighter is still useful. It's quite good at spotting ships hiding behind islands.

Ah. I had wondered why wasn't losing stars for every loss... Didn't realize the first of the losing team gets to keep his stars.

Ranked battles are a good idea, especially now that they have that "you don't lose a star if you've done well" thing. However, finding a match at the higher ranks can take some time, even on the EU server because Wows has a small community and most of the players aren't even interested in playing ranked battles.

24:50 - You could have also complimented the Fujin driver for being helpful in chat. After all, he added just a tiny bit of extra flavour to this video in a way that would, for instance, never have occurred to me, had I been in his position. ;)
The Minekaze was actually disconnected. If he was just AFK, the rear turrets would be pointing to the left or right instead of staying at midline.
Jingles I'm pretty sure random battle team size is 12. Sorry for correcting you! Yet again another great video!
At games two, Fujin had a point. New Mexico didn't need your help to pummel the Aoba, but if you stayed around B and harassed the enemy ships trying to cap, your team might have been able to fight the rest of the battle with enough flexibility from cap lead.
It's funny because I always thought ranked battles were out of my reach because I thought you needed tier 7 ships - so after finally getting it, it was to my dismay revealed T6 would do it fine, 3 days before this video haha
That "AFK" Minekaze in the first match was actually not loaded into the match. You can tell becasue his forward and aft guns were all in the neutral position. If the player was loaded into the match then all of his guns would have been more or less pointed in the same direction as his view.

Ya know, it is entirely possible that the first New Mexico you hit at the end simply forgot that the Japanese cruisers have torpedoes. After all, he wouldn't be the first person to forget that cruisers have torpedoes
Don't worry about the flags and premium consumables. Don't feel forced to use the although I do use premium stuff in ranked

Hi Jingles, great video as usual. Just one small correction from me. You are going to loose star at the intermediate ranks (22, 21, 20, 18, 15 and so on) The only thing save is the rank. And be sure I know what I am talking about. I managed to get to rank 14 so far and since than I got a few teams that really sucked and a few times I also managed to contribute enough that my team lost. And I am now back at rank 15 without any star and now I need again 4 victories in a row to advance to 14 again.
Going to give these a go.

Ahhhh yes Ranked...
That whole bit on how much influence you have on the game thanks to the smaller teams is very very true...how do I know this? Well I'm up to rank 5 and my ranked win rate is exactly 60% :D (yes I am very proud of that if you haven't noticed.

With reference to your teams talking to one another and not just hurling insults, I was playing War Thunder the other day (had just been given an hour's test drive in that Russian rocket tank [BM-8-24] so was making the most of it) and got put into a game where one member of my team did absolutely nothing except bitch about how everyone was driving T-34s and he even started shooting at team mates. My rocket tank got annihilated so I got into my backup vehicle - a T-34 - the highest ranking vehicle I had left.
Needless to say it only took about five minutes for the opposing team to drive us all back to the spawn point and slaughter the lot of us wholesale. A more decisive loss I've not seen in a long time.
Ranked is pretty fun this time since they've made the highest tier 7 which allowed my full participation. Currently sitting at rank 8, hope all of you are doing good as well.

I tried ranked battles the first time after watching this vid.
I *really* hope it gets better further up the ranks. The fist half-dozen games were *dismal* (despite winning all of them except the last). Battleships steaming backwards from spawn. Everybody going half-speed to make someone else become the target. *Worse* teamplay than in randoms (!!!). The game mode is nice, the player base is trying to live on two shared brain cells.
World of Warship, a game where they addressed many of the issues that exists in world of tanks while world of tanks still refuses to fix them.
"being not particularly bad at the game" - a worthy aspiration, sir! ; p

I've always done that actually. There are specific channels where I *always* like and favorite the video first, then start watching. I don't understand why people consider that weird. Some content-providers you just *know* to keep giving you only the best quality content. Why not like and fav first? :)
Brand or Channel loyality can be easily abused. Not that I believe Jingles would do such a thing, but as a consumer it's smart to be careful.
DeutscherDummer Good thing it's easy to dislike the video if you decide you don't like it. Unlike in the old RUclips, the likes/dislikes are dynamic, as opposed to permanent once you've chosen one way or another.
You know I didn't even realise ranked battles existed until I saw this video..
I open pretty much every match (Assuming I hadn't gone full Francis the last match and am sulky) the following advice:
"Stick together, call targets with F3 and support your BBs. Do not be a Rambo. Rambos lose matches."
If I'm in a DD, I try to snake the opposite cap and run back. Nothing like having a 2-0 cap advantage to open the match.
Yeah I was playing ranked and loved it. when you got a good team the game was great and most of the bad teams you can make some benefit from. The issue why i have stopped playing World of warships is that I have been having connection issues and freeze frame issues way to often and it has cost me in ships and being a useful part of a team, which really starts to bite.
Now before anyone jumps in and say that is what you get for using an old computer with a crappy video card statements. the computer in question is a lenovo D20 w/ two quad core Xeon procesors and a CAD certified video card 24GB of ram on the computer and 2GB on the video card. I love the level of detail and extremely accurate arcs of fire and reasonable balance of capabilities in the game being ex-services myself and some one from the "bad" old of table top gaming. I enjoyed it a lot. I don't enjoy when the glitches get to the point of causes noticeable issues with play. Will still watch, as you put on a great channel Jingles; but even though I got to level 13 (was two wins from 12) I most likely won't be going back to play.
that suiside was such a play of the game.
I once had a Game where the whole friendly fleet split into 2 groups; this was in the Salomon Islands map. We didn't lose a single ship.
