    Great example of the hiking community looking out for each other. Team rescue does what ever it takes to help a fellow hiker. And the reward turns out to have another trail angel come to the rescue with warm, dry accommodations! 👍😜

    Yesterday - giving another hiker a pair of shoes. Today - Team Rescue. WOW. You and your trail family are true trail angels. What's next? Fighting off bears and mountain lions. Julianne and tramily examples of how the trail provides. Ya'll are doing great. How nice that you found a place for everyone to stay and that the owner just left you there. Glad you're out of the storm. I like the name for Whitney. Great views. The PCT is really a beautiful trail. Thanks so much for sharing. Take care of yourself. Try not to fall again. I'm sure I wasn't the only one you scared when your camera went catiwampus all of a sudden. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.

    You scored staying indoors. So much fun. Apparently Cibbets Flat campground is still closed due to that military helicopter crashing. Glad I got to meet some very nice people there last year and delicious trail magic. BTW, tell your friend that she will not freeze to death in her 15 degree quilt. One year, I had a 50F quilt and a car window shade to sleep on only and it got down to 10F with windchill on the PCT and I’m still alive and kicking. It was a very long miserable night though.

    • @larkangel6593
      @larkangel6593 Месяц назад +2

      yep, even the strongest dogs are pressed to do 10. Humans are easily geared for 30s if need be

      @SkepticalRaptor Месяц назад +1

      @@larkangel6593 Maybe he was just taking his dog for a few early sections. But if you read any discussion of the PCT, dogs just aren't allowed in most places and it's cruel to the dogs even if you ignore the law. It's just bad all around.

    • @SkepticalRaptor
      @SkepticalRaptor Месяц назад

      @@larkangel6593 I'm highly critical of people thinking that they can bring dogs on the PCT. It appalls me as a dog lover.

    • @larkangel6593
      @larkangel6593 Месяц назад

      @@SkepticalRaptorthere's weirdos and newbies in every activity, but they're usually quickly eliminated
      I think section A might have the highest drop out rate - people get out there thinking it's cool or whatever and quickly realize it's actually hard, sweaty and exhausting
      At that point they quickly conclude it's not for them and bail out. If not morena/Boulder, then definitely laguna, especially if a spring snow storm comes in after struggling through the desert
      But that poor dog didn't have a choice - it seemed older, a bit out of shape and long haired
      I run into a guy now and then that has a young German pointer - that dog needs 5 miles per day.
      But it would be pressed to do 10, and of course could never do 20, much less every day

    Why did you call 911 instead of pushing your SOS button? The SOS is better. They will coordinate everything for you. That's what you pay them for. 911 is not even that good. The California 911 just let some woman die out in the desert when her car got stuck, even though she told them the correct GPS coordinance. That won't happen with SOS. 👍
