- Tool (Maynard James Keenan, Adam Jones, Justin Chancellor, Danny Carey) performing "Stinkfist" from the 1996 album "Ænima" live at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on November 19, 2019. Alex Grey is seen on the right of the stage, sketching some artwork. Maynard brought him out and thanked him before they played this, their final song of the evening.
Full setlist:
Fear Inoculum
Ænema
The Pot
Parabol
Parabola
Pneuma
Schism (Short, with Intro)
Jambi
Vicarious
Part of Me
Forty Six & 2
Encore:
Chocolate Chip Trip
Invincible
(-) Ions
Stinkfist (with Alex Grey) (Long)
Regarding heavy security from the show, read on:
"Tool’s commitment to a no-distraction environment went so far as to include a strictly enforced no video/photo policy inside the venue, which essentially backfired due to militant enforcement by Barclays Center security. Swarms of guards could be seen patrolling each row and pointing flashlights in the crowd, ejecting anyone who so much as opened their phone. One man with a cane was dragged to the mezzanine mid-set after opening his phone to check the time. Another woman was literally carried out from the inner bowl hogtied-style with guards holding her feet and hands as she screamed about how her ticket cost over $100. A number of people were escorted out onto the street, not allowed to return. This commotion happened for the duration of the set and made for an uncomfortable, neurotic environment, completely defeating the point of the no-video policy, as the constant interruption of the security guards was far more distracting. Tool’s no filming policy is completely understandable, although they may want to look into other ways to enforce the rule (pouches, mini-lockers, or just better educating each venue’s security team). Despite numerous announcements and signs about no filming, it wasn’t abundantly clear that fans were not even allowed to glance down at their phones.”

Just got home. Tonight was SICK, EPIC!!!!! I haven't seen Tool in 13 years. They did not disappoint. F'N AMAZING!!!
I've seen them 12 times, and tonight was possibly the best show of them all. Pneuma was incredible!
I saw them in philly Monday for the first time since the 10000 days tour.
Oh. My. God! Life changing

Big facts they fucking killed

Did they??!! It was unprecedented. This show has already earned legendary status. OMFG we witnessed what greatness looks like.
The things that can be done with a gtr, bass & drums when like minds are set to purpose.
Don't forget vocals too! ;)
music is so amazing
dont forget my man on sketchbook
Po pop
4:35 They play extended version for years and people still got trolled. :D Amazing show. Probably the best Tool show I have ever seen.
hah yup!
Poor bastards.
@Brad Brad he sounds fine here. Weird to post several times about how much something "SUCKS" about something people clearly find to be perfectly up to par. Cool that you've got the energy to gatekeep 'good singing' at your advanced age, though.
It's true if you listen to his note's and octaves and upper register in his voice in undertow and aenima and lateralus and compare it to this, he can't sing like that any more ! Its a true scientific fact !
All three times I have seen them they played it and they never started with the intro, they did this part in the middle and then went out on a jam and then integrated the intro into the end of their jam before picking back up with the rest of the song.
one of the best bands ever put together! i been rockin this shit sense the 90s

Maynard sounds amazing. He sounds like he actually went back to the 90’s. Amazing.
No , not close ! I,ve only seen tool live in the 90's... 4 times and this is not how he sounded in the 90's !
@@BENEATH_THE_SEWERS honestly video recording doesn't capture what he sounds like in the building. I'll tell you this this, when they played part of me I swear it was like I was listening to it in my car only better phenomenal

Thank you! had great seats and a great view. (Pro tip- cover the mic with your finger when at a loud concert. Prevents the input signal from overloading and blowing out. Sounds much better).
Audio is great for sure and a rarity for a Tool recording so well done man. Did both nights in Denver back in October and both were amazing. You’re the benefactor of seeing them later in the tour as well. They sounded a bit rusty at times in Denver as I think it was the second stop on tour. Adam actually left for a few minutes night one during Invincible and some other dude was playing. No idea what happened.

I definitely regret not buying tickets to see them now. Around this time the only Tool songs I knew were Lateralus and Fear Inoculum so I didn’t see any point in buying tickets. Now I’m 3 albums into their discography and they’re literally in my top 5 and maybe even top 3 favorite bands. Hopefully they come back to Brooklyn/NYC in the near future I’m dying to see them live!
Jordan_K they are playing Nassau Colosseum this summer. Go see that show! You won’t regret it. It’s an incredible live performance.
Sadly the tour was cancelled, so seeing them live is on hold for now. I cannot urge you enough to go and experience this phenomenal, phenomenal band. Seeing them last year brought tears of joy. The most beautiful, emotional concert experience I've had since Depeche Mode 1993. That was 27 years ago so that says a lot.
Hope y’all went to Belmont
Their sound on this tour has been nothing short of phenomenal. Some would probably accuse them of playing the album and pretending to be playing live. Perfection I tell you!
This was definitely one of the best Tool shows I've ever seen- this was my 12th time seeing them, they sounded as good as ever. Pneuma especially was amazing!
Thank you soooo much for capturing this moment
Thank you for the kind words, David!
Greatest live act on the road. Saw them in Pittsburgh. Adam Jones is sooo polite and approachable. Forever grateful for the experience.
It was one of the best shows I ever saw. I got backstage at MSG in 2001 and met everyone in the band except Maynard.. we hung out for a half hour after the show, and everyone was really cool. Danny's wife Sabine is a friend of a friend, and she got me the backstage pass- and it wasn't the "Fan VIP" backstage, it was the actual real backstage, with friends and family only. Was such a great experience.

I saw Tool's first show after 9/11 and I was at the front gate of the G.A. area so I saw them 20 feet away. EPIC
Tool stayed at my house on 9/11 because all flights were grounded. The 5 of us shared my king size bed. Justin farted a lot, Danny snored, Maynard talked in his sleep, and Adam sleepwalked.
Alex gray sitting down on right
Daniel Hurley he was sketching. such a great guy.
Really hope the next ny show isn’t canceled cause I was at this and it’s was a great experience seeing tool my first time after being a fan for 20 years. They don’t come to ny too often. After years of praying my prayers were answered lol

I'm not religious but last night was as close to a religious, soul transforming experience as you could get!!! Just, fucking epic!!! Long live the church of TOOL!!!
One of the best Tool shows I've ever seen- and that was my 12th!
@@nakleh I've only seen them once before, back in '96 @ the Roseland. That night was equally incredible but a very different experience. Standing room only, packed so tight that if you got your arms up you'd have to fight for room to put them down, I was 40 feet from the stage, the whole crowd moved in unison, jumping up and down, it felt was like waves in the ocean. It was absolutely amazing and a feeling that's never been duplicated.

@@nakleh Unfortunately, these days it really feels like Maynard is turning into more of a dickhead I'm afraid!!! He kinda acts like he's not into doing the music as much as he used to be. It's sad!!! I saw them last month in Tulsa. As soon as the last song was done, he was like, okay, fuck everybody I'm outta here, and left the stage!!! The other three stayed onstage for probably ten minutes and waved and interacted with people in the audience. They were cool as fuck!!!! But Maynard was nowhere to be seen!!!! That's not how you use the word literally.
Now that’s a show
it was amazing
The sound is amazing. Great capture. If they ever come back to the UK I hope we get the full stage setup.
The stage looked so cool! There was a curtain of strings hanging down in front of them that they broadcast video onto for the first part of the show. Then the curtains parted and you could see them.. towards the end the curtains closed again. (You could see them though the curtains, but the video on top was really cool combined with the video behind them and the laser show)
This is the tool I love and miss.
It's been 30 years. Every band changes over that course of a time.
@@nakleh mostly yes
Jason Jamal Nakleh Hot Snakes came back after 14 years without skipping a beat and twice the intensity of the 2019 TOOL I saw. Same with Thom Yorke, he’s older than Maynard and he still has impeccable range and power. Daughters were junkies, got clean over ten years, came back with their best record ever. I’ve seen tool on every tour they did from 1992-2019. They’re not too old, they just don’t care anymore. ESPECIALLY Maynard. I did the math. He sings on 23.569% of the new album. FUCK. THAT. SHIT. There are many older bands that retained their intensity and not only didn’t cannibalize themselves, but actually kept putting out great music for the duration of 30 years.
So no. Age is no excuse. They suck now. Get over it. They gave us 4 great albums. Also why does Maynard dress like a hot topic employee now? Ridiculous.
I was here. On the opposite side from where this was filmed. It was awesome!!
Glad you enjoyed! My neck is still sore from rocking out haha
Come to Brazil Tool, pleeeease!!!
Absolutely love the adaptation of the original. The sound quality is perfect for an iPhone as well.
Thanks Shannon!
I cannot fucking believe I was here
Did you get sound from the board or clean it up through computer program? Sound phenomenal.!? Just wondering. Saw the show in Phoenix. Definitely best Tool concert I have been to.
Bret Pratt this is straight into my iPhone, no post processing done at all. My trick is to hold my finger over the microphone on my phone, this prevents the super loud speakers from overloading the input and blowing out the sound!
I wish that they would consider putting out a 4k multi cam live recording full concert video with 7.1 surround sound. It could be edited using clips of each show on the tour.
To encapsulate up until this stage of their career at least, up until this stage.
They have ideas, money & time. I hope that they are considering this.
That would be great.
Dw, they are doing it
I can’t wait ...tonight at Mohegan 🤘🏼🤘🏼

Effin tool in Brooklyn
EFFIN A RIGHT! We used to have great clubs in Brooklyn in the 80/s90s- L'Amour, and Crazy Country Club to name a couple. Loads of huge bands came through our clubs, including Metallica, Megadeth, etc.
Description....Alex wasn't using a laptop he was sketching.
Thanks for clarifying.
obviously stinkfist would be the song the embargo would be lifted for.
Unless witnessing the very show, right there in front of the massive sound and images - I can't forgive the apparent absent mindedness of Maynard, singing tunes without passion and Jones playing only slight variations of songs he's played a billion times.
believe me I am a huge fan and very forgiving with them - but I think at this point it would be so much more exciting to everyone including them to play Fear Inoculum in its entirety + some classics as encores
Woah! Alex got the ultimate fan experience! Was he there for the whole show? They didn’t bring any special guests at the shows I went to (Arizona, Milwaukee, Chicago)
Just for Stinkfist.

@@11charming respectfully disagree- Maynard sounded great at this show, was really pushing it (pun intended) and sounded as good as ever. He did not say turn around and take my hand at the end. Anyone make out what he did say?
This isn’t long but as as much as Maynard doesn’t like hippies and jam bands he likes his own long songs. Les Claypool prob taught him the error in his thinking in that regard
U probably right..my 1st concert: TOOL OPENED...for primus...new years 95
@@cyberdelicxp9125 HOLY SHIT I wish I could've seen that epic show!!!! OMG dude
I’ve seen primus about 20 or 30 times I’ve only seen tool a couple times in the mid 90s. I’m a deadhead so I go to jam band shows all the time. Does tool have vendors and ppl selling food and bootleg shirts and stickers in the parking lot? That was a Grateful Dead thing and a lot of bands and festivals have adopted that tradition.
I love TOOL, and I would love to see them live. But that no video rule is bullsh*t. Not the rule itself, but the way it's enforced. I understand not wanting people to film, but kicking someone out because they wanted to check the time is just stupid. I don't know how much control the band members have over that, like if the security did too much without the band knowing about it, but either way it has to be worked out.

Just go enjoy the show leave your phone in your pocket. How are you enjoying it if your sticking your shoddy phone in the air. First your blocking the view from behind you and the quality is garbage. Not to mention Tool asked you not too. Have some respect
