Adding a swivel seat on the passenger side really opens up the back as well. I think a swivel passenger seat should almost be standard now, it's a game changer. I had one in my large Ford Transit
Why not a swivel seat driver's chair and take out the passengers? Just curious.
@@BradyRay_333 it's always nice to have the option of having a passenger. You never know.😊
@@chrislconley27 that makes sense
We took out the passenger seat in mine. In it's place we had the small fridge, a microwave and some storage. That is if you dont work with a team.
The downside to that is it deactivates the airbag system.
The wood build looks livable. Well done.
Nice job, thanks for posting. A standard pallet is 48" x 40". Assuming no over-hang, this Sprinter can easily accommodate 4 pallets loaded sideways..
Yeah I was thinking about that too as long as you are not transporting those LARGE Gaylord boxes 📦 yeah four (4) 48x40 standard wooden pallet skids can slide in there nice and tight .. I’ve picked up three (3) pallet skids from my DHL Express courier days plus ten (10) large boxes from my regular pickup from my Brooksville, Florida route yeah it was a HEAVY load 😳😬
You could easily add a camping shower into that build. Cut hole in the floor in the bed are for a tub,so water can drain out, build a floor cover for shower tub, get a curtain to hang around the roof, n add a good camping shower n 10 gallon water tank. From what i see plenty of room for it. Could even add the little van conversion wood stove to help with heat and cooking right in same area
Cool. Never saw one of those 15 amp shore cord plugs like that.
OK, RED, SO THAT BED SLIDES FORWARD IF YOU ARE HAULING 2 PALLETS, CORRECT? I LIKE THE WAY YOU HAVE THIS SET UP. I KNOW A FEW PEOPLE THAT ARE HAULING LIKE THIS LOCALLY. I WILL PASS YOUR WEBSITE TO THEM. OK.
Yes
In the UK for fast freight we tend to want 4 pallets in the back on a 4 metre floor. The latest idea is a flip down bed attached to the fixed bulkhead. Looks nice conversion tho.
Here's an idea. Move bed up to seats take out passenger seat put fridge and powerxl smokeless grill . I like where you got inverter mounted
You can move the anyplace. It's not bolted down. If you take passenger seat out it turns off the airbag system.
@RedsCustomDesign if you take the passenger seat out without running the correct resistor across the plug, it kills the airbag system. My laptop at the shop has the resistor data, I'll look at it when I go to the shop
Thanks for show your van ... It will be nice when a person explain how to do it !..
What kind of batteries, wich cable to connect, isolator, fuses, how to atach the E-tracks, how to insulate the floor, walls, etc. etc
I'll show you what kind of setups I do. But I'm not going to give you step by step instructions on how to do it and want to do it with and were to get it. I've got a business to run.
The best curtain setup is fron International trucks, the only good thing about them. Their sleeper curtains have floor-to-ceiling magnets. You just get the two edges close and they seal all the way up and down. One behind the seats and another behind the bunk means you only have to heat or cool the area you're going to occupy. You push the aside when you want them out of the way. A little heavy but worth it.
Yah, but not everyone wants to spend that kind of money or has it to spend. Walmart blackout curtains do the job too. Worked for me for over 20 years.
@@RedsCustomDesign that's what I have. I wonder how hard it would be to put full length magnets on each side.
Eric did great work for me!!! Hi Eric!!! 😊
Transportation industry standard pallet is 48in long 40in wide better known as a four-way pallet drum pallets are 48 x 48
When you add etrack, are you using screws all the way through the metal floor? Or are you just attaching to the plywood?
I love your builds.
Spectacular build Red
Thanks for sharing!
Turn the pallet sideways and you’ll get three pallets I’ve done that plenty of times and if they tell you it’s 48 x 48 then that’s what it should be nothing should be hanging off if it is then you know you can’t take the low
Lol
Just an idea, you could put the "locking mechanism" for the wall on the Cab side of the wall, instead of the cargo side, to alleviate the need to kick the wall down, if the back door wont open from the outside. Also is is there enough width on the inside , to build a "Murphy bed" setup (so it can be raised up against the side of the van) , to be able to load 3 pallets ? or would that put the bed too low or on the floor? Im guessing the fender wells are around 10 inches, so the space needed to stow the bed couldnt be much more than that.
It's not where the latch is located. It's the way the wall opens. There is not enough space between the wall and the drivers seat to lift the wall up.
Those wheel well boxes are 24" tall. And no,you can't have a murphy style bed and get 3 pallets. In a 170ext you may be able to get a short muphy bed and 2 pallets. But not 3.
@@RedsCustomDesign I was thinking that the wall would be hinged at the top and swing to the back instead of the front. I havent these vans in person , only online, so no idea how theyre designed. Just trying to think of a way it may work. And with the Murphy bed, I was talking about having it closer to the front, like the bed in your video. And using the space in front of the wheel wells and the width of the wheel wells to hide the Murphy bed. And just dont build wheel well boxes where the bed would be.
Thanks for the tour Red. How's the skoolie coming along?
It's done. Video will be up soon
How much does this typically cost because I have a Mercedes sprinter 2500 currently expediting otr

Thanks for the information.
What is the distance between the wheel well boxes after the build?
51"
Where do you put the steel divider wall to protect you from the cargo in an accident?
You don't, a bulkhead not required in a van. And not necessary if you strap your freight with e-track. Over 20 years on the road hauling freight I never once had a bulkhead.
I know it gonna sound weird, but in order to make freight a priority, what about using a hammock instead a regular mattress or bed? And I meant when the van is not running. I like it though.
You definitely could, but for the most part (myself included) it's going to take a hell of a good hammock and anchor points to hold them. Not to mention if you have one or two tall pallets you wouldn't be able to use it.
@@RedsCustomDesign Always love your content so what if you beef up the inverter and batteries could you run the AC?
@@RedsCustomDesign I am almost sure I saw a webasto HVAC system that doesn't need an external generator to run the AC am I right ?
There are several different 12v/24v/48v DC powered a/c options. But most don't want to spend that kind of money. A rooftop a/c (if you install it yourself) is around $1200 and a generator is around $1000. A 12v a/c unit is $3k - $5k plus $3k - $6k in lithium batteries plus a dc-dc to charge them while driving. And that only gets you about 6 - 10 hours. Then you have to find a place to plug in and charge your batteries if you have a shorepower charger.
Thank you for the video
Im new to this, im new to this i see you got E Tracks on the floor i been seeing plywood but what is that black looking stuff called thats on your floor
I have no clue, because I've never seen your van.
Red do you bolt through the floors using the factory holes? Also how do you secure the Etrack to the floor?
No
Very nice 👍🏼
Do you have options for a 159" Promaster 2500?
Any of my setups will work in just about any van
@@RedsCustomDesign where can I find a list of all your setups?
@steveweyers8394 email me at info@redscustomdesign.com
I see some e tracks close to the wheelwelds and yours are much closer, any reason why?
It's easier to strap down smaller freight and for the full-size pallets to slide out without catching on anything. And that's where the ribs in the floor work out best.
Nice
How much apart are those e tracks?
21"
How much room would be left over if the bed was in place and you had 3 pallets lin the back ?
It's a 30" mattress
@@RedsCustomDesign So the mattress is right against the back of the seats ?
It is not fixed. You can move it wherever you want to put it depending on the freight. Or available space.
@@RedsCustomDesign I realize its not fixed. Im wanting to know that if you have 3 pallets loaded and the bed is down, how much space is left between the bed and the back of the seats ? or is there any space left at all ?
If you have a 170ext sprinter you will have around 10"-13"
How much time would it take to do this build?
Most of the time 3 days. But I tell everyone figure on 4 just in case.
Is there any brands you can put a rooftop ac while you are driving?
All brands, if you have a way to power them
I put 3 skids in a 159
Can I bring in my sprinter for expedite built

Hey red do you do custom work with a 16 ft box, for otr Expedite
Yes
I would think the majority of people working/living in these vans are 1 person so wonder why I haven't seen any modes that remove the passengers seat and use space for something. Ref/Storage or something.
They do, but it disables the airbag system.
How much would this Buckeye package cost
As stated in the video, for pricing and availability email info@redscustomdesign.com
How much it cost to install the e-tracks
I don't put pricing on social media. If you want a quote email me at info@redscustomdesign.com with the info about your van and what all you are wanting done.
any way to run enough batteries to power an ac unit off of instead of a gen?
Yes, or you could just switch out the a/c unit to a 12v unit with lithium batteries.
@@RedsCustomDesign Yep I know I saw that design somewhere AC 12 volt unit with lithium battery
Do you know the weight of that van after that build?
On this one, no. On the promaster you can still haul 3,000lb before the driver add all there stuff.
What would the cost be?
I don't put pricing on social media. If you are interested in a build, you can email the shop at info@redscustomdesign.com
How much Is the buckeye pkg

@@RedsCustomDesign you could always give a ball park price ..
About how much does cost for a build like this ✌
If you had read the directions it would tell you.
This is the 1st time seeing Etracts not attached to a piece of plywood
Why would you want to put it on top of the plywood? Then everything will catch on it when you slide it in or out. This is how I do all of them.
@@RedsCustomDesign I do not know, it seems the school of thought was to use the 4ftx8ft long plywood for ease of pallet sliding. Then later they decided to install Etrack system. A couple of RUclips post later it seems everyone is copycating one another.
I've been in transportation for over 25 years. This is the only way I have done it. Most just put the e-track on top of a 4x8 sheet of plywood because they are to lazy to do it right. Or it's easier to do it that way. Or they don't know any better.
I will not install them on top of the plywood in my shop. And I will not install them on top of the factory rubber mat.
@Red's Custom Design wow!!!
I'm just getting my feet wet with cargo van gigs. Dispatch/Roadie.
I see all these videos and trying my best to take it absolutely slow amd careful what I choose to do. Thank you for your input!!!

@@RedsCustomDesign Ive seen a few YT videos of van owners who say e tracks on top helps the pallet slide in and out.
