I started two classes as friends of the university from GovX. I’m taking the Constitution class now and Gov in difficult places. I wanted to sign up for the food ethic class but did not have time this semester for a very special reason. I am the significant other of a federal officer who defends the border. I have a son currently in his senior year of college and a daughter who is a college professor working on her doctorate. So I did not want to overload myself with classes. I’m an exceptional family member of the USAF and have joined American Legion. I’m a blue star family member also a white star family member. And I’m an artist. A member of the Charleston Artist Guild. My life is full. I have a disability… which is non apparent … I used to ride horses. I fell from a horse at 16… as a result my maturity is younger. Although I have graduated from art instruction school and have attended two years of commercial art school and two years of culinary school ( just a couple classes shy of my certification) I have not obtained my bachelor degree yet. At 52 I was mistaken for a high school student while picking my son up. I’m 63… still many people will guess my age as younger. Which is exceptionally fine and well. It works for me. I do look now maybe 50 instead of my age. It is my hope to do well in the class program that has been offered to me thru govx. I took master class which was also offered to me through blue star taught by former presidents. I have looked at the auditing program for adults. Which May fit my upcoming needs and may help me complete my dreams. I live in Charleston sc not New Jersey but that does not mean in the coming years in the future that I can not move to New Jersey to attend on campus. I’ve taken classes online previously with some success. I was on home study often as a child because my father took me to space camp Wright Patterson and the Smithsonian for in person studies. I taught preschool at nasa. I studied southern history first hand locally in Charleston all of the pros and cons of the south. Charleston has been my home for many years and I am happy here. I do not always do well in public speaking though I was in the NFL ( national forensic league) in high school. Much I do well… but at times I feel uncomfortable). I am on the President council … sometimes I write too fast and I try to write in complete sentences but will make a typo error which is unnecessary. I’m studying French online my second year and I have my spell check off. At the moment I just have my cell phone but I can get a lap top for class but the govx class seems to fit on my cell phone. One of the programs I studied was special topics in culinary arts history and religion. My grandmother was a church organist and my mother painted the statues in Saint Peter’s. I actively built a church was a youth center leader and was a trail scout leader. Many people came to strengthen their faith through the churches. I know I did no matter how trying it was. From Jesus example I learned to forgive. I studied not only the Christian religion but other religion also. My grandfather had been raised by a Jewish man he married my grandmother who was Catholic. My family believed faith is personal but we have a mission. My mission was with the animals. Witt conservation . I have been a 4 H pet club leader for the Clemson county extension. Perhaps here isn’t where you need my complete resume. And my resume will not be complete until the day I leave this earth I am always learning something more. Although I was born in the Catholic Church we had a sign on the door leaving saying from here you enter your mission. We drew straws which lead us away from our town to other areas of the country. I was born in canton for one main reason…. McKinley monument the football hall of fame and Kennedy eternal flame. My parents called it their home. But it’s easy for me to look at the Declaration of Independence and find my great grandfathers name. When I went to Dc on the homeland security convention the one main thing I wanted to see were those documents… it was my faith that it be still there. I tend to ramble in my speech and my thought. Also… I grew up in plain local. My father wanted me to be humble and not put on heirs.
There’s a family story my grandmother would tell me about her husband … he worked for the largest publishing company in America. It was during the Great Depression. He would carry bibles and magazines around the Kentucky on horse back as part of the great library expedition. They felt education could take us out of the depression . He would tell people who he was. One day a farmer upon hearing his uncle was the president hit him over the head with a shovel. From that point on he just delivered the books. Even though they were a romantic family … they still were classified as working class. They had a great work ethic much still with theater art but also football but still working. Books and magazines always filled our homes.
In high school the saddest thing I ever read was ray Bradbury the story of the firemen in the future burning books. I know this has happened historically with the library of Congress. I was reading about it recently how Jefferson offered to replace George Washington books. But many things are original and can never be replaced. I was on the historical preservation society at Navarre Ohio. It was through a program at Kent State. I learned so much. Charleston the city that I love so much has had some historic flooding. One of my favorite places Charleston landing flooded. The historical center needs much attention. There will be much work for future students to attend to. But there’s hope. As historic places are revisited people learn so much more about the past and interpret it farther. Museums are while they’re supposed to be permanent are still ever changing. New items come in old items need restored. My father was a Pearl Harbor hero he was one of the first to go one of the first to return. He said all he could do to get him through was to dream about me and the future as well as preserving the past. I don’t have a starting date as where I was born or what year this is. Many people are surprised I never seem to know the day. I didn’t go to kindergarten. I was being taught by famous people. My desk in first grade said VIP. It was directly upfront in the classroom. But this doesn’t mean that I was an only student. We had thirty student in my first grade x 4 and 1000 by the time I graduated but I still got time with my professor one on one. Sometime I get teased sometimes picked on. Sometimes I think I have the right answer it depends on where I’m getting my information from. And I may have it all wrong . But I have worked with some of the most intelligent people in the world. And even the dull and the ignorant have their stories. My high school teacher Dr Edal was the first white professor to graduate from Tuskegee. One of the people he taught was my former husband who went on to work in experimental air craft. I struggled through that chemistry class we shared notes in a group. Worked on projects together. I remember sitting at a stand still in space camp seeing the space shuttle just sitting there. Dad said it would not fly because the tiles wouldn’t stick. We’d have to find a solution. Dad always said the children would have to learn more history than the rest of us because more will have happened. So much of this is absolutely true. So much more history has happened and it depend on who is telling it who is right or who is wrong. I have seen history happen. I used to watch home movies and wish I could meet my relatives. I had a big family but I wanted to meet those who went before. My dad would simply get out the home movies.
Yes I want to attend and I will start by diving into my class on Govx. Someday I hope to be on campus. And I can not believe this but you said in I think it was 1969 that woman were invited to come to your college. I was 7 years old in the first grade. My science fair projects were about landing on the moon. Last week I took my first quiz from Princeton. I’m 63. I got so excited I wanted to call my father who has recently passed within the last few years. Thank you for this opportunity. I will cherish it forever.

I’m sorry for rambling. I gave you far more information than you needed. Refer to my first comment about Princeton about how I felt about coming to your college. Simply YES.

I believe history is very personal it constantly has to be studied and taught and reviewed and learned from for all of us. Not just so it doesn’t repeat itself but because some of history was very important and worth repeating . And some of the hero’s voices were forever remember and still teach us to this day. Thank you for inviting me to attend. My father said when I was born there were maybe five jobs I could do. But my grandfather said… I could do or be anything. Dr king was one of my first teachers. I was on a soecial program called ABC… a better chance.
