I have never seen this as a problem. Whenever I use this mill, I first set the heigth of the extension arm to slightly above the workpiece and from then on use the fine feed.
Yeah, I'm kind of going beyond what the BFB 2000 and BFW 40/E are intended for. I need to drill a 16mm diameter, 70mm deep hole into a block of POM (Delrin). I will do it in 10 steps, increasing the drill diameter by 1mm between 10mm and 14mm and from there on by 0.5mm until I reach 16mm. So I will have to reposition the head on the column quite often. Spoiler alert (upcoming video): Things didn't work out as I planned in two different ways.
Now is aligned. Why Proxxon didn't do that at manufacturing phase? Because adding manual time/tasks will lead us with a more expensive tool. So I think your mill cost more now than before. But this fine tuning is not a thing of this model and brand, every machine needs fine tuning after purchase. And in that phase you will learn a lot from your machine. Thanks
First, you're welcome! Second (spoiler alert), I found the markings on the column and head are after all not a precise enough method ☹ You'll see in an upcoming video.

Hello. How do you rotate the head ?
There are two bolts at the back of the head which you can loose to rotate the head up to 90°.
@@robertssmorgasbord Many thanks !
