I get that, but this is literally the experience of -anyone- in any place where they are a minority. I've had black coworkers seriously ask me, "Hey do you like REO speedwagon?" "Uh...nope", I'd say. As an East Asian born + raised in a western country myself, this entire MV triggered so SO many different emotions within me on a personal, relatable level that I never thought I could experience from watching any other MV. It's basically, people who are sheltered from actually engaging with people of a certain culture but who like products/customs of said culture and then meet someone of that culture and then are desperate to tell them all the things they think they know about YOU (which in this case, they are wrongly assuming that YOU are into all these things too just because it's from people who look like you). Same thing happens if a white guy goes to China but actually worse since it's 99.9 percent Han Chinese people who will follow you around or come up to you and ask you very rude questions as a stranger.
