I think I am going to be doing this this weekend. Just did the noise generator delete and was very happy with the results (had a tear in one of the stock pipes so i had to buy the full forge one) thanks for a great video!
When you change your spark plugs on any modern engine, the engine should be warm to hot. Reason, spark plugs are steel, the heads are aluminum. The differing metals will 'gall' causing the steel spark plugs, to rip the threads out of the softer aluminum head. When installing new plugs I put a lubricant on the new spark plug threads. I found a molybdenum/oil mix that I like. The oil will burn away, but the moly stays, and aids/protects the bi-metals from eating one another and tearing out the aluminum. Electrolysis is also at work anything differing metals are in contract with one another, causing 'oxidize ferrous ions' that is the staining you see on the spark plug threads... if you were to look close at the aluminum threads adjacent to that staining you would see the aluminum deteriorating. Look up 'radiator cap anode' these are great to protect your aluminum heads and other parts in your cooling system. Read up on Electrolysis, differing metals oxidate and destroy one another when the come into contact with each other, either though a close air gap, but especially when water is present. Conductive grease can also arrest, or slow electrolysis. Modern engines fail over time 60K plus miles because of metallurgy complications. A little knowledge and basic maintenance can greatly improve the longevity of today's modern engines.
I really like these videos have a lot of good info but on the valve cover Im looking at an aluminum replacement for 150 I know these are older videos but still worth their salt
Legally this component is not a Muffler, it is a resonator, for anyone wondering if its legal to remove it or not. In most places its legal to remove and has no effect on your emissions systems.
Hi, great stuff but did you have any issues with the new intercooler delete pipe blowing off with the turbo pressure...if you haven’t watch out for it if you get a remap done...it did with me 😂
Have you had your new replacement pipe pop off due to big boost pressure? I’ve had it happen to me (19.xpsi of boost). Just as a precaution I’ve had to groove the pipe across (horizontally) to give it a surface to bite. Since then, no issues.
magikbiped absolutely! how ever the sound wasn't as drastic as I'd hoped. The unexpected gain from this showed it's self in the form of crisper more predictable power delivery. I feel like there is definitely more punch down low now. hope this helps ! Cheers
Bimmer Dude Awesomeness! I'm glad to hear that there was at least some beneficial effect. Thanks for the positive feedback. Sounds like I might be tackling this project on my own R56 sometime soon.
nope didnt have any issues you need a slightly longer flat head screw driver to reach the last hose clamp. there is a hole in the bottom of the bumper designed to allow a screw driver through. Good Luck and Thanks for watching!
What type of spark plugs did you use? I see these Laser Iridium Spark Plugs on all of the modification sites, they're "colder", not really sure what that means or what they do.
yes sir i did sorry got busy. I cut mine to exactly 12inches. you should be go if you leave that amount. another goo measuring tool would be to use the old intercooler muffler and match the length. Good luck!
Some people enjoy making things their own, not to mention that finding and modding a well maintained mini cooper s is much cheaper than finding a JCW that isnt on its last legs
BOV installed and love it, this is my next one.

DREW COOK awesome man so glad it worked for you and you noticed a difference. Thanks for watching my videos !
Consider painting alignment lines on your hoses before removing from the muffler to make angle alignment easier afterwards.
Ok thats a really good tip! thanks
Great mod for charge pipe. Saves a bunch of money
I don't get BMW they make a muffler type unit to quiet the car yet then make a pipe that brings noise inside the car🤔
I'm shopping for pipes right now, jut realized that.... wut da hell? lol

If you mark the hoses before removal you can clock the hoses without needing to loosen and refit.
Do the noise generator on the intake side...
Is it a "worth it" mod? Did you hear any difference with the turbo sound?
Why does noone show footage of the mod in action?? So many of these videos but nothing to show whether it's worth it or not..

Thanks for the tip...I plan on deleting this but I was wondering...can the diverter just be capped off?

Manny Jimenez ha ! Not yet I'm still at stock psi though. Thanks for the tip man!
i have had this happen twice, running 20lbs of boost. what i did was flare out the edges of the pipe, then clamp below the flair.
What is inside the OEM resonator/muffler? Why not just push a big hole saw through it?
What’s the pipe size
2 inch diameter. 8 Inch long for anyone that wants to know!
what spark plugs did yiy purchased exactly? thanks
How in the world did you get the bolt that holds the muffler on out? I can't seem to get any type of wrench down there to remove it.
U can get extensions for your wrench
Did deleting the turbo muffler end up changing the sound of your car much?

Liked and subsribed. Always looking for doods showing how to work on their own Minis. Did you have any issues getting the bottom hose clamp off

Bimmer Dude holy shit man, that bottom hose clamp took me a while but it was worth it

what was the sound difference ...0_0
Danke👍👍👍
Great video thanks
hey this is a great video i was just curious what the thickness of the pipe is that you used
nevermind just read below
Does the intercooler muffler dete works with oem intercooler ? Or works with forge one ?
benjamin le it works just fine either way
So does this mod increase the intake or turbo sound any?
Did this just today, it increased throttle response and acceleration on my car. Also added a little more growl to the acceleration.
This guy has never heard of a cutting wheel. He continuously uses grinder wheels for his projects.
@jessecantu9334 this video is ancient bro who cares what i used. Lol
HI Man, cool channel. How long do you cut the pipe? thx bye M.
I believe it was just over 11in I would cut 12in just to be safe
thx
How much do you pay for each spark plug? Mini dealer wants to charge me about $300 for changing the spark plug on my 2013 mini cooper.
What model spark plugs are being used ?
what size pipe did you use?
I used 2inch exhaust pipe. it cost me like 8$ at autozone
@@BimmerDude thank you sm I've been trying to figure this out
what length of pipe did you cut for the muffler delete? and is that 2inch OD?
ill get you a measurement zulfi and ya it was 2in OD
Bimmer Dude Thanks dude!
Bimmer Dude hey did you ever get the measurement for the pipe thanks
yes sir i did sorry got busy. I cut mine to exactly 12inches. you should be go if you leave that amount. another goo measuring tool would be to use the old intercooler muffler and match the length. Good luck!
Dude what size is the pipe , it looks like
2 inches? Is it?
I hear the term bimmer around the web. Is that just a slang word for BMW?
Bimmer is a bmw car and beemer is a bmw bike
My car has been mapped stage 1 will this effect the power if Install this and wot diameter is the pipe u used
Just buy a JCW,why bother with an old car.
This video is 5 years old..
