    Great step by step process. Matthew couldn’t agree more keep records makes life easier. No guess work.

      Invariably when I am working on something like this I get calls or walk ins and if you are faced with distractions like that you need to be able to be SURE where you left off when you pick the job back up. With a more serious and closely monitored car like my drag fox, keeping records in your log book helps to diagnose potential problems before disaster strikes. I use an on-the-head spring pressure checker every time I set the valvetrain on a solid roller like that and record the seat pressures so I have a chance to see if a spring is going away before it actually fails.

    Great tutorial, I've seen many videos of how to adjust the valve train and this one is very clear and to the point, thanks for this. And yes to all 3 questions!

      Thanks for your positive feedback. If the customer want me to do it, I think I will do his blower this winter or fall. It’s a beautiful car and a nice car to work on.

    Great how-too video. Folks that are new to these cars have no idea how easy it is to find detailed information the answers to their questions. Thanks to people like you that take time to make it.

      A lot of these tutorials suggest twirling the pushrod in your fingers while looking for zero lash, but that procedure is very prone to error and may even have been responsible for the setup mistakes on this car. If you do it the way I show you, you are way more likely to get it right. There is also another video on here about the valvetrain setup, P/V clearance check, and pushrod selection if you need help with those steps.

    Just found your channel recently and like your approach. Bought a project '92 5.0 5-speed GT Mustang awhile back and don't have much time to work on it but been buying a ton of parts from LMR as well as specialty tools from Lisle Tools so when I get my building finally closed in I'm going to start the tear down to remove the Trick- Flow intake and bigger throttle body, replace the water pump and while I'm in there properly replace cam for Andersons b41 or n41 cam and new timing chain.
    Just going to use this engine to learn how to start working on and maybe even rebuilding engines because I plan on many more in the future.
    Sorry so long Sir but do you have a video on this subject or know of a good video to guide me too. Have several mustang books as well but for right now I'm getting ready to start studying and researching so come time when my garage is closed in and ready to work out of I'll be ready to go.
    Thanks and great video's Sir, have A Great Weekend.

      Most of the stuff you are going to want is in this playlist, though it looks like I haven’t done one on the actual cam install. I will take a look and see if I filmed one and just didn’t edit it. The main trick to putting the cam in is to thread a long rod into the front of it to give you good control as you slide it in. Nice work!
    Yes it would be great to see a supercharger install on that car. Which one? There are some new ones on the market and I think Kenny Bell SCs are back in production(apparently it does not work with the explorer lower, off by an 1/8").
    How much RWHP gain did you get with the valve adjust? Must be the best gain ever!

      It was running on 5 cylinders so I did not dyno it in that wounded state. He is planning on a Novi 1220, so it should be very similar to another emerald coupe that you and I both know well!

    Great how to videos as always. What are your thoughts on a valve cover breather for a Fi 5.0 ? Thanks

    • @tecmotiondyno
      @tecmotiondyno  Год назад +2

      If you run a MAF, you should not run an open breather and PCV. Often those valve cover breathers leak or drip oil onto the headers as well. My suggestion is either to keep the pcv system, plug the pcv and use an open breather catch can plumbed to a fitting the valve covers, or run a closed catch can system that is integrated with the pcv and valve covers like the WMS universal catch can. If you are speed density like with a megasquirt or Holley system, you CAN run pcv and an open breather but I always feel an on-the-valve-cover breather is kind of a last resort.

      If it was a dynojet that would probably be the range. I am planning a separate video to discuss the results of this and several similar builds and the effect your parts choices have on power.

    Good morning lifter have to be bleed before

    • @tecmotiondyno
      @tecmotiondyno  5 месяцев назад

      I'm not sure if this is a question or a comment. The lifters have a spring in them which should keep the plunger at the top when there is no pushrod in place even if they have not been pumped up with engine oil. If the lifters are compressed with no pushrod in place, something is wrong with them. Finding zero lash does not require that the lifters be bled down, and neither does the preload setting because it is relative to zero lash. This video may help you to see how it works on an engine with no lower intake installed: ruclips.net/video/mJmTTntdMvA/видео.html

    Thank you Matthew for sharing your knowledge. Yes I would love to see you install the supercharger and tune this fox. Which engine management system do your prefer for forced induction cars? My procharged 331 has the stock computer with a chip. I worry about the age of the system and have been thinking about installing the terminator x and having it tuned .

    • @tecmotiondyno
      @tecmotiondyno  Год назад

      I have tuned gobs of these cars with superchargers and a chip on the stock computer, and it has always been my first choice solution. As the computers get older and start to have hardware problems, my two favorite solutions are Megasquirt2 Plug and Play and Holley Terminator X. If your wiring harness is a mess, the Holley solution seems more feasible because you want to replace the wiring either way. If your wiring harness is good, the MS2PNP solution will just plug in and is a simpler install and costs quite a bit less. Either one will benefit from a good dyno tune, however you are more likely to get something to work with self learning with the Holley system. I did a chip tune on this particular car, and when it gets the blower I will just update the chip on the dyno.
