@@Boa796 Shotgun mic likely won't cost more than the SM7B. SM7B isn't cheap and he likely won't have gotten a really expensive shotgun mic because he doesn't record much audio at events where one would be needed. Dynamic mics like the SM7B won't pick up too much high range and lighter sounds, which is why it sounds a bit muffled. This is the compromise that is often made to isolate sound. That said, sounds like he needs to turn the compression down. But he'll figure it out eventually.
Honestly to me it sounds just like a bit too much compression and maybe an EQ mismatch. That happens pretty often if you make videos and use more than one mic. I use two mics and I often forget that my EQ is setup for Mic #1, and then Mic #2 ends up sounding muffled and compressed as a result. Since Mic #1 is my more expensive/better mic I sometimes forget that Mic #2 isn't supposed to sound like that, so sometimes I don't even notice until the video is finished or someone else points it out.

I know LG isn't very popular in the us but in Korea which is where im from I see some LG DualScreens here and there. In Korea mobile gaming and sports streaming is super popular so I think LG made the DualScreen for those people.
LG is a brand that is totally underrated. They've improved a lot since their g4/v10/nexus fiasco with the bootloop of death and they definitely don't get credit for some of their innovations that have become standard. Its the first brand with high quality DAC, secondary screen (v10), dual lens camera (v10), aspect ratio adjustment that's the standard now (thin the width and lengthen the phone). I do believe they are also the only company offering 2 year warranties with their phones.
So happy to see Dope Tech back :) ! I thought the format was wonderful. Everything flowed well and seemed thought out. Continuity. I would definitly suggest more bass in the vocal for the podcast. The tone of the mic in general is great. !!Some of the color filteration or color correction on some of the fill shots of the tech being used, so outside the studio seemed off. It made it feel like the shots were from a different video and were spliced in. Hope this helped a bit? Still love DopeTech stay on it !

No, you would want something like a Grace M101; this is for vocals not instrumentation and provides up to 75 db of gain, more than enough for the SM7B.
@@thetrickster9898 I use a 517 for dialogue and singing all the time, and the results are great. I also use a Cloudlifter CL-2. The 517 is more than a preamp; it has a compressor circuit that's great for dialog. A lot of radio stations use 500 series Neve modules like the 511 and 517. Grace Designs is an interesting company, but I wouldn't trust them for -my- audio front end. Nothing beats Neve pres and compression circuits, to my ear.

The M101 is virtually noiseless it's a killer amp imo, do you have a recommendation for an audio interface, preferably with an eq or something like that?
@@thetrickster9898 I have a really long history with Neve Pres and may be a bit religious about them. For an audio interface, I've only had good luck with Focusrite, and I use a Scarlett 18i20. Their Clarett line was recently updated with better Pres and USB-C, and I will likely upgrade to that in the near future. I like the Focusrite interfaces because of driver stability, more than anything; I don't use the preamps, and almost all interfaces have great a/d converters these days. I had a lot of bad experiences with driver stability prior to landing with Focusrite.

Lg sucks
@@conormctapoutaka0-1aka0tit5 u suck. U & ur Samsung sucks
Your regular mic sounds better than that podcast thingy tbh xD
It doesn't normally sound like that. It's not set up right.
"Continuity" he says as he switches to a shot with him in a completely different outfit
thats the joke buddy
*whoosh*
Dang that microphone made a huge difference though.
Bruh i didnt even notice
Seriously each product deserved its own video, they all sooo good.
The way Marques presents his videos is TRULY MAGNIFICENT!
14:38 “continuity”
*changes outfits between shots*
Not a hater, love your videos!
Marques: Continuity
Also Marques: Changes into a jacket
😂
Idea for retro tech episode... Mini Discs... Was huge in Japan and America and Australia had a small following in the 90s, these were small cds in a plastic cartridge like a floppy disc but they were recordable discs you could get walkmans and full size home appliances and i think you would absolutely love the tech
imagine using vs code with the terminal in the second screen
^ this.
With things getting dual screens, it reminds me of back when the Nintendo DS first came out.
I remember that enlightening moment when I realized that DS stands for Dual Screen 🤯
In 1440p, that one longer hair on the top of your head made me smile so much.
Just upgraded to the Jaybird Vistas, definitely a step up from the Jaybird Runs. I'd be curious to see how they compare to the Sony WF-1000XM3.
That laptop sounds like the perfect laptop for streaming, you can have the game on the main screen and OBS and twitch chat on the bottom screen
Elchinodiabolero that’s what i was thinking. it would be cool to keep discord open in it too
These videos just keep getting better and better. I’ve been watching MKBHD for over 5 years (I think?) and every time I watch a new video there are these small improvements that lift the standard for RUclipsrs. Very cool.
Me: Doesn't care about microphones at all
Marques: It's tuned specifically for vocals
Me: Woaaahhhhhh
Marques, the rightmost black square on your wall does not line up correctly with the red triangles. It needs to be rotated!
I was abt to say that. Its at 13:00
@@meharban-singh dude. It's in literally every other shot. Wym 13:00?
People have been complaining for years about that, it's never going to be fixed. Even linus has called him out on it
Loving this format
Just got a 4k monitor, these videos are super crisp, appreciate the quality now😍
Ndoda uyibuka in 4k, usebenzisa yiphi i-ISP?

@@dadams106 Great idea. Any other pro tips like carrying a small diesel generator with you in case of you ran out of battery?
ActionHeinz That was one of the biggest differences of original comment and reply by the original commenter I’ve seen in a while...
@Kyaru Momochi Because the "tip" is obvious to anyone with a functioning brain you ass wipe
That first one (the laptop) would be great for having a game open then having Spotify and discord open at the bottom.
Shure sounds like you’re talking through a Nintendo DS camera mic

Lux Bro lol he means shure the microphone
@@rusiraalwis5975 *shure
*For the Shure 7b, a cloudlifter is essential, but also, go out and buy a great front-end preamp. Rupert Neve Designs 517.
@@grateful4068 Oh really, I use the Grace M101, it's not bad haha. Never tried Neve before, I only use a M101 for my SM7B, it's a real nice pre but I might want to try a Rupert Neve's pre's.
All that extra kit you have to buy shouldn't you just get a better mic?
The podcast is one of my new favorite podcasts right now.
Anyone else think the regular video audio sounded better than the podcast mic?
2019: Dual screen laptops
Me: 2004 called, asked why no one knows what a Nintendo DS is anymore.
Was it that long ago?
@@Damstraight68 Yup. The DS was unveiled in 2004 and the main selling loint were the 2 screens. Now the only dual screens you can get will cost you 10 DS units.
@@sirwalkboy you can get a dual screen phone for 150 dollars
I don't know if it's just because I've been watching your videos for so long or if I just genuinely love your presentation style (please take my word for it, it's the second one lol) but you're still one of the few YT''s that I consistently watch and the quality of your videos just keep getting better. I know you're a stickler for details and while I may not always agree with your pov, I appreciate the hard work you put in to make these videos. You deserve all the success you've had so far and I don't see that stopping anytime soon. Thank you.
So that's why listening to podcast was so hard, Shure mic cant compare to your regular one
Tomáš Trbola The microphone is really good; it must be his setup that’s making it sound bad
Just discovered your channel. I have always been interested/ addicted to let’s call them tech gimmicks. Your channel really feeds my habit.
Thank you
That continuity was epic!
so I am a newly subscribed fan and I am not disappointed. now before we buy anything, we check your site first. my son ( whom you look like by the way) bought his Samsung galaxy note 10 plus because of your review. so thank you. peace!!
Funny he looks like my son too... Why i started following him years ago. Good reviews, great looking kid but I'm biased.
He gives good tech reviews and he's handsome! A two-for-one deal in a RUclipsr.
@@lizzybennet5726 agree!!!!!
"Went to the gym"😂😂
I like this new format of Dope Tech instead of one piece of tech we get a plethora. Bravo Marques!
The Pro duo I would pick for wallpapers are:
Top: SMW Overworld
Bottom: SMW Underground
Just me that thinks foldable phones are very overrated?
It gets worse at being both a phone, and being a tablet
Because those are first generation devices. Just give it time. If it was a full-glass, super-thin device, you wouldn't say the same. It's not, because it's early tech. In five, ten years, though?
It's the concept that everyone's excited about the future implementation of the tech not current iteration of it
I agree. I think people get excited because of new tech, but at the end of the day, its kind of a gimmicky, unneccessary product
For now, yes they're overrated, but given enough time to improve and work out the current issues i think they'll be amazing.
People said the same things for big smartphones. Look where we are now....
LG V50 with dual screen case looks pretty awesome. Could you take a look at the ASUS ROG Phone II and how it stacks up to other flagships?
This LG phone is more functional than the Samsung fold and more optimized from the reviews I’ve watched.
1:56 “1. It gives you a better typing angle... and it’s going to need that better cooling”

Continuity 😂
This is easily one of my favorites. I love the new format for dope tech!
Everybody's commenting about the content but can we take a sec to appreciate how amazingly well coordinated and put together this video is
