Hi guys! Today we are going to get our swamper wheels fitted to our self build VW crafter campervan. They are off road tyress that we are going to reveal on our campervan. We have alot to sort out with the build of our Volkswagen campervan. This is what vanlife is about and we talk about what we are doing with our VW crafter campervan. We talk about having a self build VW campervan. One of the things we need to do to our self build campervan is have the insulation done.We also talk about some of the things we need to do with our VW campervan conversion.
Tyres are BF Goodrich all terain tyres.

I’ve put bfg tyres on my camper , kills your fuel economy massively, anything above 60 mph and your fuel gauge plummets , wish I had never put them on , although they do look cool
I've got a new t6.1 swamper camper on order, I've speced mine
Up with Axe off road alloys and BF goodridge tyres, I have also got the uprated bilsten b14 dampers and springs being fitted. What would look great on your van would be the Lazer lamps light grill and a Lazer lamps full width LED roof light bar .I'm having these fitted to my Lwb swamper at van haven vans in Dorset 👍

Good choice with both wheels and tyres. Did you use the same bolts or did the wheels come with new to suit? Also my VW got tyre pressure monitor valves so I wonder if they can still be used? Do you know if they deliver? 👍 thanks for the info.
They had the correct bolts for them. Tyre pressure monitor can be change to fit what you get. Give them a call if you need any information. 🙂

Look awesome! On transporters I've heard road noise, roundabouts in the wet and MpG can be an issue. Be interesting to see how get on as they look so so so cool
Riad noise in mine is no worse than when I had my 20's on. Some all terrains are shocking on wet roads though. Do your research

Hi, I have a T5 transporter, I’m very keen to get the BF Goodrich tyres, what’s the largest I can fit ie rim size in inches and what’s the recommended please?

Don't roget to get a long wheel socket and bar to check the nuts now and again as your wheel spanner might not fit with the new wheels check your factory wheel spanner to see if it fits as I found out on the nc500

Are the new wheel diameters the same? If larger remember the vehicle electronics need to have a tweak so that your speed readings are accurate. I got the VW all season tyres fitted as a factory extra.
Not sure on the crafter but on the T6 there a option in the dash menu to alter the Speedo to accommodate different wheels. I’ve never done it personally, knowing me I’ll make it worse!

We have these tyres on our T5 on the standard steels and it looks amazing, we kept the standard suspension 👌🏻🤙🏻

245 65 17 is the tyre side. No they dont rub. We are pleased with them 😁

They are black rhino wheels and yeah we got them from there thank you for your comment
Alloys look great....but be careful in the wet. I researched BF's and Grabbers and read some aqua planing horror stories so went for a road biased all terrain tyre.

Great looking wheels and tyres. One thing I noticed in the video when the chap was undoing and torquing the wheel nuts; there didn’t appear to be any security/locking nuts.
Not so much an issue issue with the steel wheels as supplied, but it would be sad if someone “borrowed” the new ones, and since it sits a bit higher have you added a Cat Guard to your catalytic converter, as it’s easier for some 🤬🤬🤬 to get under to cut it out.

You need to get the tracking checked whenever you change wheels and tyres.
Could be a very expensive mistake in a couple of months time when your new tyres are worn unevenly.

Each to there own. We loved our old camper but we really happy with choice we made to change to the crafter abd have no regrets best decision we have made

Our wheels are 17inch. If you go on the Internet you will will be able look where sells them.

Love those wheels, well worth it. Make sure you fit locking wheel nuts. Are you keeping the old wheels? What was the name of the company that fitted them? How much, with tyres and fitted?

Hi Guys van looks great with those wheels and i'm thinking of getting some myself. As you've had them for a while what's your opinion on tyre noise, fuel economy and in the wet ? as some people comment there bad so just Intrested in your personal experience before I buy
Fuel economy no difference at all. Noise is actually quieter than the original wheels and tyres.

@@dubventures They are 235/70/16 we have them on the original steels with spacers and as you said in your video the ride is great, not to brag but when we was in Weymouth last august we got some comments on how great it looks 😂

Customer service is everything to where we spend our money - the sooner other companies learn this, the sooner they make more money, or improve their service delivery.
I hate companies that take their time to answer my questions, or just don't bother and hold the view they are not worth bothering with.

Super clean wheels - lovely mud spray up the van. love it. My T6 currently has several shades of brown over her beautiful white body - the love of winter travelling. I am hoping to clean her this week.
For me when are you removing the blooming panel van cabin from behind you? That needs to go - and is usually the first thing to be dumped by most self builders - probably because it marks the start.
Hi. Yes customer service is everything. They went above what they had to do and because of their helpful attitude o do recommend them. The bulkhead is going soon. We have alot going on and are waiting for some things to be done on the van. Stay tuned. 🙂

Ignore the comments about noisy, poor in wet and mileage,
They are a great tyre and people run them wrong so it gives them a bad rep,
I’ve ran them for four years and love them, they’ve got me out of some tricky spots where a lot would have been stuck,
Once you’ve deadened and insulated the van you won’t hear the noise from the tyres, if you know how to drive a van sensibly they are good in the wet, mud and snow,
People don’t research the tyre correctly and go by what others say,
They are good for more miles and look Bad Ass 👍

No tape on that air gun socket wizzing up the bolts on brand new alloys !!?? 🤦🏽
The sockets they used are Manufactured from chrome molybdenum, fitted with internal and external nylon sleeve preventing damage to wheels and nuts. It still didn't stop him jabbing the first alloy, with the wheel bolt though 😂
