  • In this vlog we're going to share why we swapped our new motorhome 15" alloy wheels (which we'd paid for as an optional extra) for 16" inch alloys, upgrading the tyres at the same. We've had a few issues in the last 7 months of traveling which could have been avoided if we'd known then, what we know now. Watching this vlog may help you avoid an expensive mistake too!

    Hmm. In the same way that the gearing changed for your speedo (about 6.5%), the braking performance is decreased by the same amount. I believe the continental vans have bigger disc brakes behind those 16" wheels.
    Brake performance isn't brilliant in the first place.

      @@andytaylor8820 the brake performance is fine, never have I ever given the brakes a second thought. 12000 miles since the change now, I’d do it again in a heartbeat 👍

      You’re very welcome Chris, glad it was useful and thanks for watching 👀 👍
      We’ve recently done a follow up to it, mainly about the tyres, maybe worth a watch if you were thinking of the upgrade?

    Did you have to inform your insurance as an upgrade?

    • @Eurosully
      @Eurosully  13 дней назад

      @@nigelbrown1949 not sure it’s necessary 🤔 changed alloy wheels (already declared in the schedule) for other alloy wheels and put safer, stronger tyres on. Often change from one brand of tyre to another on my vehicles so don’t see an issue there. I guess the only difference is the 1” increase in wheel size. Can’t ever see an insurance company having an issue with stronger wheels and tyres. 🛞

    Did you change spare size? I don’t think you can have different size wheels on same axel so may be worth considering.

      No, have got a repair kit etc, but kept original spare too. It’s not ideal to have different sizes on axel but in an emergency would be ok and very careful. Others in same situation who’ve used a different size have had a few warning lights on dash light up which clear when returned to same size. I am also, eventually going to have a good look at the spare cradle, it may well hold my new size, even if I have to deflate it a little.
      Thanks for watching and commenting, much appreciated 🚐👍

    Clearly look double 'ard' and nothing like big black wheel-trims 🤏
