I am so happy for you two, finally having your new campervan in hand - and I absolutely love the new wheels! I agree with Sarah; fender trim is now required to give it the finished look :)
Thank you. Keep your fabulous videos coming we all love them and always waiting for the next one. Happy days. Take care and thank you. Jill
Great choice on the wheels guys! They look awesome 👌👌
Very good choice. We also have the Michelin Agilis Cc. on our Cali. Those tyres can easily handle with nearly all conditions. We also had no issues on snow with them.
Greetings from Germany.
I am considering the same size Agilis CC's 235x60R17's not 215x60R17s for the extra height and flexibility. On 7x17 VW steel rims for strength, durability and better ride quality. Do you think this size is too much tyre for a Coast 4-Motion?
Your new van looks very smart! Wishing you both health to enjoy... and looking forward to some camping adventure videos!!
Great choice of pub guys, one of my favourites. Still enjoying your videos even though you have left the Cali world behind, I've just picked up my brand new Ocean and your videos were fairly instrumental in my decision to go for a Cali so thanks for all the info and advice. Enjoy your 2024 road trips.
Thanks!
They look super. Congratulations.
I had the same tyres fitted last year good tyres and also look good
Really pleased for you guys your van wheels look fab. Great fun getting it to be exactly what you want it to be awesome. Was it the rising Sun in Hurley that you stayed ?Lovely.
Thanks! It was the Rising Sun at Highmoor Cross, about 8 or 9 miles from Reading. Lovely place!
Very nice indeed. Impressive service there too. The wheel arch cover thingys will just be the finishing touch. I was just concerned re warranty but nobody seems to be bothered by that - did you query it Will?
No we didn't, but that said Wandahome are quite happy to fit aftermarket wheels/tyres if you ship them to them before you collect the van new, or would supply Deltas/BFGs at ££££ the van as an option too, so I figure no issues there.
great video once again. Love those wheels! I have the same tyres on my crafter, they are great, good comfort and handling and practically no difference in fuel consumption. Best of luck, cant wait to see whats next.
Glad you like them!
Great choice of wheels. Love them 👌
I have black gloss alloy wheels on my campervan. Unfortunately on the NC500, i got stuck in mud up to my suspension triangle and had to be pulled out. Before I did get pulled out, all the wheel spinning on the front wheels put fine scratches on the nearside wheel, which was in the mud the deepest. The good thing though, with black gloss wheels, I could apply tyre wall black to the tyres and the wheels to cover up the fine scratches. Worked a treat. Keep that one in your tip locker. Turtle wax wet n' black spray. P.S. Live long and prosper.
Thanks for the tip!
Great looking wheels guys!
Thanks! 👍
Did you fit Aglis or the camping cross climate please? Seems Aglis is just for vans or do i have this wrong?
Looking on fleek 🎉
Really nice upgrade, I knew you were never going to stick with OEM wheels after watching all the Cali vids. I was particularly interested in this one as my VW T5.1 came with black 18" OZ black alloys very, very similar to your new ones. As I converted it into a Swamper I wasn't particular enamoured of them even with new Davanti AT's but they have really grown on me. I think I will put the Rhino's off for a while and save a few pennies!
OZs are such a great all round wheel - can look good on so many vans 😀
How do you think the Agilis CCs 235x60R17 would do on a California?
Thanks for the video. Can you tell me where the Rising Sun pub stopover is please? I will be heading to Elite W&T myself in the near future so the stopover will be good for me.
No problem 👍 maps.app.goo.gl/mXixR2ArhtPJqbSV6
What tyre pressures are you running on the new wheels?
FFS Will - I thought I had almost made a decision on wheels 😂 (Fuel Coverts or Rhino Warlords with Falken Wildpeaks). Great review as always - thanks. Oz Rally Raids with Cross Climates do look damn good. Elite currently only have the 17 Rally Raids in Graphite - but that might work well with our Ascot Grey Cali... Reading is only an hour or so away, think I need to pay them a visit very soon...
Oops, sorry! If you have a chat with Charlie there he can give you a bit of an ETA on other colours. They have a really close working relationship with OZ.
Oh no! Now my head is spinning! I was debating this setup for man TGE3 iridium grey. Then when saw it in the flesh with factory poptop which is quite chunky i was thinking warlords with gold edges and wildpeaks. Now seeing this (and the offset, as wildpeaks are 245 which I thought would give a good look) I'm wondering to go back to what you have. The tyres should be so much better for 99% of my driving and still get me off the wet field campsite as well
Ahh decisions!
We went through the same debate about the tyres, and just thought these give a nice enough AT-ish look with the rim protector blocks they have on, and will be WAY better for 99% of our driving too. Very impressed so far.
Wheels really suit the van, much better looking but they don’t shout.
The new wheels look really cool, wheel arch extenders will look good too. Interesting to know if your insurance premium will be affected. Our insurance was affected when we fitted side bars to our aVW T6.1 Transporter campervan (Bilbo''s). Great video, as ever 😀❤️🚐
No change to our premium, they were only interested in the cost of the wheels so it can be included in the overall vehicle value.
I'm just wondering why you are not waiting until it's time to change your tyres. On that, how long would you have expected the originals to last. Sorry if you've done an explanation on the differences in the wheels and why you've changed them.
Another great video, same dilemma we have, those standard steel wheels look dreadful! Just wondering what you plan to do with your old wheels/tyres and also did it make much of a difference to your insurance premium?
We'll sell our old wheels and tyres for whatever we can get for them, not a lot I expect. No change in our insurance premium, they just wanted to know the value of the wheels to include it in the overall vehicle value.
I’m sorry, I seem to missed it. How much was the cost in total? Thank you.
Ahh yes, apologies. Haven’t got the invoice to hand but seem to remember it was £2200 in total.
I'm confused, you're saying Contintel tyres when they are obviously Michelin or am I going crazy 🤪
Good spot!! Moment of madness! Clearly they are Michelin !
Why didn’t you get new TPMS fitted to new wheels, then you have a set on van and spare set??
We didn't feel as though we'd need a spare set for anything, so we saved ourselves the money !
great wheel video. Have you made a video on headlights as the vans are commercial vans and not designed for distance travel. in my last Transit, I fitted updated bulbs and long-range spotlights for use when the headlight beam was used
We have made a video on the standard (halogen) headlights on the VW Crafter of this generation before - but we haven't done one on our new van yet, as that has the factory LED headlights which are absolutely fantastic in comparison. Need to do that video!
Do you know what the weight difference is between the original and the new Oz wheels. What are the offsets.
I don't - it's the one thing I forgot to check/take with me, a set of scales. I can easily measure the old wheel/tyre combo as I have that in the garage, so might take one of the new ones off to compare.
Bound to over read more on mph surely. Different tyre size would think. It's got to make a difference (scientific) 😀
The profile is altered for the different wheel size. Originals were 235/65/16 and the new ones are 235/60/17 - and the new ones are 0.4% longer rolling diameter, resulting in a +0.2mph difference at 70mph on the speedo.
Well my brain went for a walk at that answer.
Not that it would be an issue for the next 3 years, but I thought the wheel/tyre shouldn’t protrude beyond the bodywork otherwise it would fail mot 🤔
Yes our thoughts too, wheel arch extenders coming!
Oh right. Sure you said on video. Won't be any difference. That's why I made the comment
I’ve gone for the Rhinos .. not sure if that’s the way to go :)
They'll be great I'm sure 👌
95k for a van you then have to spend £££££ just to get wheels and tires that look right seems bonkers.
Agree and for that price I expect room service 😂
Easy to spend £130k for the “Look” in a ready built van. Builders like Westfalia focus on the interior and functionality.
@@stephenrussell6074 Yes, but surely at this kind of money some decent alloys and quality tires should be part of the package?
@@nickjh1968 I am saying that to get the wheels and tires would add another 4k to 6k. Roof rack 2K light bars and rear spots 1.5k lift kit 8k 4Wd 6k. These Vans cost £50k plus bare so 45k soon goes on quality interior and fitting.
Utterly wasted on me, a wheel's a wheel, a tyre's a tyre. I'd rather save the money. I love your van though and if the new wheels give you pleasure then that's good enough for me
