I was researching thin clients for a boring embedded application when I stumbled across this video. I learned more about what this hardware is capable of in 8 minutes here than the last hour of scratching at spec sheets and blog posts on Google. Great taste in modding too! Subscribed.
Thanks for being here I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah I'm not much for the google wormhole myself that's why I tinker around and find out myself or what people write in the comments.
Very cool video, looks nice on the finished product, also want a free motherboard I have lying around? I don’t mind mailing it, it has a 2 core CPU and I was planning on upgrading it and making an entertainment pc but I’de have to get a bunch of stuff for it and I just currently don’t have the time or money, it also takes ddr3 ram, if u want let meh know.
I did a vary similar build with the same exact graphics card in a T620 Plus. Just an additional idea for you that I did. I needed more storage and didn't want to have external drives sticking out on it... even though that was a option. I included a 2.5 hard drive inside my case... now this makes everything extremely tight, but their is room in the one corner by the exhaust fan. There's a msata port on the board, they make adapters that expand it out to a normal sata port. My next issue was power, since I was dealing with a 2.5 hdd I found a cable that was usb to sata power. This setup is working pretty good for me and I was able to add 2TB of storage.
ever see a thin client that had the CPU socket on one side and the GPU soldered to the back of that socket so the cooler just clamps down to the board? forget who did it but it was one of Intels Pentium 4 775 boards for small form factor.
can you help me.....i have bought HP t530 Thin Client and want to know ....what can i upgrade it to be just like in the video.....i mean that can play game....
I got a HP T730 with the same MSI graphics card but whenever I stress the system with a game, it crashes. I suspect that it is going over the power supply rating.
You want to know what's funny, I play elite dangerous horizons on a HP t620 plus with a GT 1030 and 8GB ram. It plays it really well at 720p with high and a few medium settings. Space flight is mainly 60fps, around space stations is a little lower, SRV and on planets it's around 45-50 FPS. It's a pretty damn decent experience on this setup.
Which case is easiest to work with and where you can put most parts/accessories in your opinion? Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer ect. I want to build an sff pc in near future and I need some advice. Can you change the PSU for something more powerfull or motherboard for some other like mATX or ITX? Regards
Do you have any idea of the CPU temps before and after the new paste? I have one running pfSense at 5% utilization and runs about 48 degs C. Seems rather hot to me. I was trying to come up with a way to cool it down some. Thanks cool video. Love the color of the case
What a legend. Although I think we're still far from the car-relative of "go green". Since.. well.. computers are already plain electronics, thus not really being as intensive as an old (1995 - 2000 style) car.
Hi, I was thinking of buying a HP thin client and turn it into a portable mini PC gaming system as well after watching your video. Just like to know if a low profile Radeon RX550 will work with this system? Anyone tried before?
i didnt think so and you are correct about the pricing. Its just i can spend more and make it a whole lot cooler but the reality is what am i going to do with when im done? Alot of times i lose money on selling these projects. lol its cool your right people should get the best value for their money. thanks
@@modstek You could try raffling the lower end smaller ones off or selling them on ebay and making them known, but given prices for shipping items is pretty bad, I feel
Hey bud I'm opening an emulation solution business locally and I'm very interested in these mini type PC's as low cost solutions. This idea so let me ask you this. A 1030 with a weak CPU would work for psx and n64 emulation ? If it runs fortnite I'm thinking why not. What's your opinion
Im building exactly this. Did you have to update the BIOS to the latest version for the 1030 to be recognized? I'll know soon enough, but I wanted to ask the expert.
Love your videos and nd those mods too. What do you think about a gigabyte g41+xeon 5450+8g ram+ gtx 1050 ti 4g ddr5? Do you think i can run Fortnight, GTA 5, and Forza? Thak you.
Xeon 5450 is basically a high end core 2 quad (equivalent is q9650) and the 1050 Ti is decent. You can expect 30-60 fps at 1080p with low to medium settings, depending on the title.
I had an x5460 that I recently upgraded from and you'll be fine with that card and CPU combo. You can run most anything at 1080p with mixed settings from low to high depending on the game. Old 771s still hold up if you aren't chasing the highest numbers.
hell i thought it was going to melt down with gt-1030 blocking the airflow wasn't about to add more heat. But it held its own im proud of that little guy..lol
Well. I will say impressive for a cheap system though as a "quad core" that's about all the cpu has going for it. I think a LP i5 would spank that lol!
No it wouldn't, the CPU in this bottlenecks the GT 1030, you would not see any performance gains by putting a 1050 into this if you could even get it to fit, and some how be able to power it. The PSU lacks enough power to support a 1050 (this only has a 90w PSU, and when you take into consideration that no PSUs are 100% efficient), not to mention they do not make a half hight low profile single slot 1050, they have half hight low profile but the cooler takes up two slots.

Hey there bud.
👆 highly recommend this dude channel..
This video is so fresh that HD is still not available. Awesome mod btw!
You are the man.... I have much better pc than this but for a moment i thought in myself "i'd trade my pc for this one".
trade! trade! lol
@@modstek For a moment i said. XD
That's actually brilliant. May do something like this sometime.

you are the coolest RUclipsr you almost sound like Powers Boothe
The OEM case mods are on point. This kind of makes me want to pick up an old HP pavilion slimline.
Another great job, brother!
Dope build I wanna mod a thin client myself ☺️
You should do a cinnebench run and what points can it get.
i didn't think it would fair out well with cinebench
@@modstek it would be neat to see this things performance . I'm impressed .
I just got finished building mine. Cinebench as well as Heaven benchmark and PassMark PerformanceTest 9.

Msi Afterburner if youre still curious

so no performance hit there
