I did an Android build with this model and loved it. No upgrades to anything. The second one I upgraded the m.2 ssd to 64gb and used the new Ubuntu DDE.

you could get a M.2 ngff cable for your exp gbc beast. the pcie in your laptop/ or this thin client is only x1 out of x16 pcie lanes. the m.2 ngff is x4 of x16. You will get better performance out of that egpu

I love me some gtx 1030 for sure. It's so niche in so many ways but when you find a place to use it, it tends to hold its own in that particular role. Mind you, no way it'll play triple A games, but who in their right mind would try to use it for that in the first place?
Low spec computers like thin clients, it does quite well with the right games and applications.
I'd like to see a thin-client build with a thin-client/mobile version of an i5 or i7.

Might be good for a car-pc for better performance than a raspberry pi....gaming on a car pc? New idea? At those prices I could set up two in the back of my Lincoln and one in the front...thanks for the idea, LOL!

I just got the t620 plus for 40 bucks and played the newest doom 1080p with gt-1030 inside
I honestly doubt I can run Doom on a dual Core at 1.65 GHz and with a passively cooled hd 7470 :D, but we'll see what it can do. Graphics card still hasn't arrived.
How well would this stream games without the ext-gpu?
great job!. i have the same T520 running Android and windows 10 (booting from external HD), and i can say is capable to run COD 4 at decent FPS using the integrated AMD R2e GPU. Windows 10 is slow from USB disc, i'd like to upgrade the internal M2 SSD (origunaly only 8GB), but im not sure if can handle a 120GB M2 or is limited to 64GB, the spec sheet says 8/16/32/64, but dont know if this is a limitation

I didn't skip this and will go watch your other video about the egpu. I wanted to do this with my laptop and was wondering what graphics card to pair with a dual core i3 7th gen in my laptop. I upgraded my laptop to 8gb of ram but I don't have any back panels to access the parts though I was thinking of removing the CD player on my laptop since I never use it so as to have a place for the egpu cable to come out from. I also wanted to add an ssd to my laptop cause it is so freaking slow though I was wondering if the CPU would bottlneck a graphics card like the GTX 1050 or 1050ti. I was thinking of getting a GTX 1050ti or possibly a used GTX 1060 3gb for 1080p gaming. If I got a 1060 3gb how much would my dual core laptop bottleneck it? Many thanks in advance!
Between gt730 and gt1030 there was no performance increase the 1x slot will hinder it.
@@modstek Thank you! I might try using a GTX 1050 cause that shouldn't have too much CPU bottleneck hopefully. Are you doing anymore eGPU projects? They are really cool! Also, I had an idea for an sff wall-mounted PC case by basically taking a magazine wire rack that is on the smaller size but big enough for a motherboard and GPU and using a riser cable to mount the gpu flat and then using cable ties to mount the motherboard and GPU to the wire rack. I was wondering if it would be too heavy to hang on push pins in a pin up board attached to my wall. I can't drill holes in my new room but it might have a push pin board so I could theoretically hang the wire rack PC on the pins. Do you think it would fall off? I'd only use an ssd for storage and pico psu so there wouldn't be too much weight to it.

single chanel ram is very bad
only if using the integrated GPU (because the iGPU uses system memory and is highly dependent on faster ram for its performance), when iGPU is disabled and using a dedicated GPU theres not much performance difference between single and dual channel, especially with those kinds of CPUs.
