You guys sure know how to keep us watching your videos. I have a taffeta white FA5 and is stoked to see this build series. An excellent choice to repaint the whole car to have a clean fresh look. Can’t wait to learn from you guys on this civic platform. When you guys did a mini build series on the Redline Orange Pearl, i watched it multiple times because it was so entertaining.
I lost interest when they added the fake wing and a bunch of other cosmetics,.. OEM Si spoiler was fire... Stock looks + performance is where the civic shines and people overlook that aspect
Dp always with the sick honda builds for us honda fanboys i love to see it u guy's never disappoint keep up the great work guys I always look forward to that notification from Speed Academy
Love the 8th gen platform!! The 09-11 facelift octagon trunk taillights would make this car look SO MUCH better. night and day difference for this build in terms of styling!! The existing 07-08 circle design makes these cars look wayyyy older than they really are...
The Hasport mounts aren't too bad as a street car when using their softest poly offered. I suspect a lot of the NVH is from the crap done to the front mount and tightening the rear mount in a position that put tension on it. I daily the full Hasport setup on my FA5. It is noticeable but not as bad as you described with just the rear mount. While you are in there if you are staying with OEM mounts replace the oil filled passenger mount. That has failed 100% looking at this car. Even if this Si was babied its whole life I would tell you to replace that engine mount. When this mount fails it will allow a ton of engine movement and added NVH as well. If it were me, I would say replace the front and passenger mount with new OEM parts and get new street Hasport rear and passenger brace mounts. It is nice step up from OEM and what I wish I did on my own FA5 instead of the full Hasport kit.
this type of video is awesome and i love that you guys picked 8th gen. Keep up the awesome work! Please add a 3xl shirt lol I’m sure some people would want them.
These are great cars! A friend of mine got one a couple years ago, he put on a full Muggen RR bodykit, which looks phenomenal and plans to swap the factory 1.8 engine with either a K20 or a K24...eventually. 😜
Very nice to see this civic getting the TLC it deserves. In europe, we only got this series of the civic in hybrid conversion and it’s a pretty lame/boring car, so stoked to see what you can do to this one, it already looks amazing in championship-white! Can not wait for future episodes🙏🏻
I miss my old 8th gen civic 😭. It was a great first car. I definitely want to buy an 8th gen Si as a daily again, now that I have more money for real mods.
I love y’all for continuing to do this kind of build. Totally possible for many people without a $100k budget, but will also probably be wicked fast. Thanks for keeping my hope alive for the day I have a good garage 😅
Don't get me wrong... Supras, GTR's, RX7's and all of the other JDM legends I lusted after in my youth are wicked to see. The reality is they have largely become unattainable to the average enthusiast. Really love when you guys do series like this that line up with what most of your viewership are wrenching on. Cant wait to see this one come together!
Sounds like you are going FI of some sort, here I was hopping for a 330hp NA monster. I love the sound of NA K motors, some of the best noises out of any engine.
Hey Dave, that's my favorite Civic sedan body style too, but it has to have the Type R, like yours. My favorite Civic coupe body style is my 1998 Civic EX coupe, but I like the '99-'00 front end best. Other than those, I'm a Toyota man through and through. None of my three grown kids want my original 1985 Corolla GT-S that's been in the family since new, so I guess I'll be buried in it, lol.
Really good video, I stopped watching you guys for a little (probably algorithm) and i'm glad I have started watching again. Always great attitudes and amazing content, can't wait for the next video!
ktuned and some other companies make the header for the k24 swap on these gen so it have more clearance which is better than bashing the chassis, another cheap upgrade is using the acura rl brake kit from fastbrakes which uses rl calipers and 350z brembo rotors, i have the fd2r wheels and with the bigger rotor is look much nicer than the stock 11 inch rotor. this video wins and an great inspire for me since im slowly building my fa5 to this spec too k24 cte supercharge
I love when the pros have problems I have had (axle nut). Then I can say "It wasn't just me". Other favorite is rusted rotors. "This thing is supposed to just come off!!".
Just the Hasport poly mount alone should feel nearly OEM. If you're getting a ton of NVH the car probably has a balance shaft delete pump, which is great for spinning past 8000, but creates a TON of vibration in a K24 car. The OEM balance shaft pump from either the K24 or the K20Z3 work with modification; K24 pump needs a pickup extension to match the 8th gen pan, K20Z3 pump needs some material removed to clear the K24 crank, both will work fine and make the car feel much smoother especially up top as the K24 harmonics aren't great. I tried rubber mounts in my NA car and they were all destroyed in a year, SC car would hurt it worse, put in just that lower Hasport mount you guys found and new rubber and those have been fine for 4 years now as a GLTC car, still comfy to drive to and from the track with the stock balance shaft pump. Honestly all of the hardware up in the front end seem to last forever, my racecar is still on 200k mile axles and ive never really seen front wheel bearing or balljoint issues other than slow wear with super high miles, OEM stuff is cheap though so refresh never hurts! Also those rear hubs can fatigue fail with age, SKF is the OEM or just get some from the dealer. Other brands fail faster. Honda nerd moment: the CSX bodystyle was originally not supposed to be shared, but Honda Japan decided that the FA5 look was too radical for Japan, so they took the Acura bodywork. So every Type R gets an Acura beak on the nose and trunk!
I’ve tried to buy championship white and man it’s hard to find and pretty pricey too,the taffeta white is good with me and it actually really close in color.
I agree that the FD2 is one of the best looking Civic sedans, but same goes for the standard FA1/FA5. I personally feel like the 8th Gen sedans are better looking than the 8th Gen coupes.
they definately are, i got a coupe Si because it was so much cheaper than comparable sedans lol... only good thing about coupes is they are slightly lighter
2 episodes talking about building a budget car thats a bit rough around the edges ... 15 minutes into the episodes and its fully resprayed😂😂😂❤ love you guys
Everytime you guys build another Honda, I get closer and closer to trading off my R56 Mini Cooper S for a Civic hatch of my own! (Old school Honda guy from the '90s here!) Great content, as always!
I guarantee it wasn’t the rear mount unless someone put something stiffer than a 70A in there. It was likely the window weld filled front mount combined with old right and left mounts. Hard rubber will vibrate too and if it’s not hard enough your header will slam into your tunnel. Let’s see how this turns out.
@@speedacademy a/c really not needed in our climate, rip it out of all my projects. Really looking forward to this challenge though, 2 totally different car. FD2s have a huge following in the UK too
Nice how you can buy a used car thinking it's intact, only to find out the front bumper has been compromised. Maybe if you're lucky, they sawed the frame almost in two also!

same i watched that series twice lol i have a polished metal metallic fa5
I lost interest when they added the fake wing and a bunch of other cosmetics,.. OEM Si spoiler was fire... Stock looks + performance is where the civic shines and people overlook that aspect
Taffeta gang
The teaser ending is the best segway to the coming episodes! Looking forward to both builds!
Just drive it in reverse and it is basically a porsche
It’s true
Horsche?
Ponda?

This is prime Speed Academy at its absolute finest. GTRs are nice and all but this is the sorta build you guys do so well. Kinda FRS of old like.
Loven this! My wife's Civic is waiting for the go fast parts I got for her. Great inspiration.
Dp always with the sick honda builds for us honda fanboys i love to see it u guy's never disappoint keep up the great work guys I always look forward to that notification from Speed Academy
I like the approach. Budgeted built videos always leave a lot on the table and makes you just wish it could be more complete.
This series is all I'm interested in right now.
Really happy to see this car ended up in championship white. I'm also hoping this build gets a supercharger vs a turbo.
The music choices are always so on point for your build/time lapse portions!
Man, a complete respray in 2 weeks is almost unheard of, usually it's a few months + a lawyer to get most body shops to do anything.

Clear hexagon taillights at that!
Na clear are much too rice@@awaisibrahim1458
I never felt Honda but damn. U can get anything for them. It’s a rly great community. Can’t wait to see the finish product. 👍🏾

Not to mention if the header was making contact with the floor that would be a huge source of noise.
My Redline Orange FA5 is my favorite car i’ve ever owned, i’d love to drive a type R, an Si on RT660s and some swaybars is a backroads weapon
this type of video is awesome and i love that you guys picked 8th gen. Keep up the awesome work! Please add a 3xl shirt lol I’m sure some people would want them.
I am so excited to see the rest of this build I own a Honda and bmw myself can’t wait to see what you add to the Honda I’m taking notes
I haven't been this stoked for a build series since the Mod my CRV series.
This is going to be good, loving this series already

Excited to see this 8th gen! My favorite gen that came with a proper k20 and still very analog feel.
FD2 owner here, loving the work and i have to agree the saloon body style is pretty on point!

Enjoy the series and try to buy my first car that would be honda civic FD 2.0s here in the philippines.
Learning so much from u guys keep it up!
Can’t get enough of the Honda content! Love it! Just watch the ITR series over the other day.
Love the series. Excited to see what you guys do. I like the budget idea too. I’ll look forward to it at the end.

I had a comptech supercharged Nighthawk Black Pearl Fa5. You are making me miss it. Such a fun car.

You guys are getting me back into considering project builds again. That could be a wonderful thing or an awful thing. Regardless, great content!!!!
Can’t wait to see how this build off ends!! Great work as always!
as an '11 FA5 owner i'm basically conditioned to remove the wipers and cowl every time i brush my teeth. its just how it has to be.
Great build series! Looking forward to watching it and who wins.
Digging the fd2 build. Hope you build the trans for boost! It'll need it!

So stoked for this build, I freaking love Hondas!
FD2 for the win
Love the championship white so good !!!!
Can't wait to see it all together smoking some German cigars at the track !!
I subscribed way back when you guys built that Honda for Pete's brother so I am stocked to see another Honda

was hoping to see PRL turbo kit but supercharged K Series is a really nice choice too
Wouldn't delete the pins on a seibon hood, I've seen too many cases where the latch rips out and it smashes the windshield
Awesome build series so far, I get sad when I Sense the episode coming to an end
Innovative sells a nice replacement front mount for that motor and chassis

Is that a carbon hood? Or carbon kevlar? The yellowish tint is kind of cool… Full paint job for a reg Joe like me would cost 10k… there goes my budget
Just yellow clear coat fade.
Hopefully that KraftWerks supercharger during the Turn 14 segment is coming for the Civic!
Enjoying this series!
Such a great build series guys. C'mon a million subs already
Doesn't Pete need to do rod bearings on the M3 engine just in case? LOL 😆😆
Man I’m Loving it !! Can’t wait the next video
Nice a little snail and some type R goodness what more can you ask for !!!
Honda Boys hit that like button!!!
Don’t forget to make sure the rod bearings are done on that m3
Fa5 has so much potential I love my si
AHH I NEED MORE OF THIS SERIES!
Saturday mornings are for speed academy
Also yes the best looking Honda sedan
Agreed that the FD2 is probably Honda's best looking and driving sedan. Has NVH just like a 90s Honda too so it's really the full Honda experience 😂
I'm an accountant and I don't add up every penny on my builds. I don't want to know how much I've spent
Excited for this one!
Keep up the good work!
I like watching this stuff more than all the youtuber super car builds
I love how conveniently the turbo is laying next to the Honda wheels 😂😂
Curious to see if that turbo sitting on the table is going on the car or something you pulled from the spare parts stash to tease us
Those headlights are fd1, because of the blueish tint on the corners
All that work to save the A/C on a track car! Canada rust is really nothing compared to UK
We’re old and want AC while driving to the track

The Type R is going to be sick, and can't wait to see how it stacks up again the M3
Good stuff guys!!

That turbo at your back ....sounds like a Plan hahaha nice wheels also❤
Should have told me I have a 2 owner cas type s local 210,000kms.. could have been all yours Dave.
Why your drop the subframe when all you had to do was unbolt the compressor & leave it on the side.😊
