Well if we talk about the old testament, it is said that until the time of Noah and the Arc, people were vegan. Animal killing was rare and only used to be only as a gift for god, as a sacrifice.
The reason animals became allowed to be eaten in the bible is that after the big rain, there were no trees and vegetables.
Noah sent the crow and the dove to look for evidence of land. Only a long time later, did the dove return with an olive branch in its mouth.

I created a video that activists can use for Christians who will not be persuaded to go vegan unless the Bible tells them to. I've compiled biblical verses that show that Eden was vegan, God is making people vegan in the present day, and all people and even animals will be vegan in the future, and heaven is even vegan. Not only that, but the Bible states that animals have souls, and more!
Thank God not all Christians are like him.

Being a vegan myself in a Christian environment sometimes (my girlfriend is Christian), I tend to get confronted with similar cultural indoctrination and arguments (yes, cultural indoctrination, this has nothing to do with the bible).
The thought that animals are created for us isn't theological or based on scripture in the least.
I highly advice every vegan to watch the 30 min video on the Theology of Christian Veganism posted below, and be open to researching scriptures and the bible yourself (growing above our first implicit negative associations we may possible have towards the church can be healthy, because scripture is not the same as orthodoxy, 'conceptual belief' or the church in any case!).
Some small facts:
All the apostles who oughta have lived around Jesus, were vegetarian. James, brother of Jesus, who gained all authority, was vegetarian. Only Paul didn't want dietary ethics to be a stumbling block for newcomers, so he wrote the things he did as to be able to keep spreading 'the good news'.
Also, the verses of Jesus eating fish is a symbolic message later added by Greek scholars to convey the message of ICHTUS (meaning 'Jesus son of God our saviour') . In any case, awesome video on Christian veganism here:

Wow. The one thing I want to say as a Christian who has been vegetarian since October and recently gone vegan is the whole argument about whether God wants us to eat meat or not. In the New Testament Jesus gave people fish and bread because in those days that was pretty much all they had. They didn't have the ability to transport fruit and veg that wasn't grown in their area. They didn't have the easy access to quorn and beyond meat and brands like this which we have today. In fact they didn't have supermarkets. They got locally sourced produce easily and if the fruits and vegetables weren't in season then they didn't eat them. This is arguably very sustainable but it is a totally different environment and does not compare to today. In fact in Genesis in the Old Testament it actually says "The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it." Meaning we were literally placed on this beautiful planet with the intention and purpose to care for it. Particularly with environmental factors, but also ethical reasons I believe that the only way to fulfil this is to go vegan in a world where animals suffer and are mistreated and the planet is destroyed due to the sheer quantity of deforestation caused by the livestock industry. In a time where it isn't necessary to eat meat, it is totally incomparable to the time in the New Testament that people often refer to when saying that Jesus wants us to eat meat. Plus He (as in God) also says love one another. That includes animals. I don't think Jesus or the Devil is the one saying to kill the animals though. I think it comes down to whether or not you respect the planet that God gifted to us. We may live in the world but it isn't our world!

I am a Christian and eat 100% plant based, initially for health reasons, now for animal cruelty reasons as well. Please don’t place all Christians in the category of the guy in the video. I don’t agree with Ed on everything, but he’s done his homework and keeps his cool. Kudos for that. I can disagree with him theologically but still be glad he’s doing his best to stop animal cruelty.

Mahatma Gandhi was a vegan himself! Have you read his biography? I have . He never consumed meat and dairy. So many times people including doctors forced him to consume dairy and even in times of I'll health and life threats he did not. He might have consumed it once or twice under great pressure, but his entire book talks about his disdain for meat and dairy and how he had to constantly deal with people who thought otherwise. If in 2018 when information is available at one's fingertips and people claim to be so ethical and moral, vegans have to deal with so much shit, I wonder how much more it was during his time

David Austin It's clear that you like to generalize. You may want to believe what you are saying but it most definitely isn't even close to accurate. There are millions of vegan people, just as there are meat eaters. Some are skinny, others aren't. Some get excellent results on their annual health checks, others don't. And this applies to all meat-eaters and vegans. People need to eat with nutrition in mind and educate themselves when their results are poor in a certain area on their tests. If you were knowledgeable about nutrition you wouldn't have concerns about being vegan. Being vegan is not eating only say lettuce. There are an abundance of proteins, grains, fruits and vegetables to gain nutrients. Just because there are examples of people who weren't eating properly doesn't mean you can generalize people's intake of foods who choose not to eat animal products.

The teachings insidiously create hate, judgement, violence, misogyny, homophobia, racism, and an overall divide and hierarchical mindset. Masked with fluff and cherry picking the good quotes from the book. You can google or even just search through the bible yourself and you will find disgusting things that I won’t even repeat. Also please know that the Christian church is responsible for the AIDS epidemic in Africa, the systemic sexual abuse of children, and the defending of the Holocaust. Not to mention all of the torture and murder in the name of “Jesus”.

Who cares how old the earth is? There's just as much propaganda and disinfo taught in schools as there is in institutional churches, all run by the elite psychopaths. What's important is one's spiritual beliefs and how we treat all sentient beings.

Since at creation God forbid humans to eat animals, he did not create animals to be eaten. Only after the flood did God allow humans to eat animals. But much like the flood the eating of animals went against God's original plan.
So in short, God did not create animals to be eaten by us, but he did allow us to eat animals after the flood.

There are many versions of Christianity. To have a debate with a christian about christianity one needs to understand what type of christianity they are dealing with. Yep, just goes to show the inherent contradiction in the bible. He also told people to not kill, but also told them to own slaves and literally butcher babies AND infants without mercy.
Ed truly has a gift. He is able to be passionate about something while at the same time staying level headed, thoughtful, and kind. That is extremely rare these days. Most people let their emotions take over and therefore actually hurting their cause by turning people off of their message due to their behavior. Ed is truly special and a blessing for veganism.
