@@RascalApiary I pulled one frame and we I would imagine you call it crushing and got a little over a gallon is that normally how it goes the reason I asked I'm going to try to do some with my extractor I need to know how many 5 gallon buckets I'm going to need
I think I'm missing a live chat again, lol. A reminder told me in 19 hours and it's been 20, ha ha ha. Will keep trying tho, hope you had a blast again!
@@RascalApiary Gees, just saw about tornado's sweeing across your area, stay safe! Looking forward to the stories whenever the timing is good for you two! Thanks for the quick reply!
I'll stop by a local man's house that had bees but he had about 12 buckets turned upside down with bees all over them I asked him what that was for he said it was to feed the bees to help them make honey what does sugar water do for the bees to make honey
The sugar syrup should not be fed to bees when they are making honey. It’s not real honey at that point. Some beekeepers feed their bees prior to spring to ensure they have enough bees to forage when the flow starts.
Thank you very much for this video. This is exactly what I needed to see. I have a couple frames that I have in the freezer that I need to extract. I feel I know what to do now. I just have a few questions. What was the name of the yellow frame rest you had on the bucket when uncapping and where did you get it? Also where did you get your knife? I haven't seen any like that. But I do have a long serated bread life that looks like it. That might work.
We bought ours at a Beekeeping convention. Took me a minute but I found them here Uncapping Knife Serrated 16" amzn.to/2RPQQuD Bee Keeper Flat Honey Bucket Nest Frame Shelf Yellow amzn.to/3tBWCOC
@@RascalApiary thank you for the quick reply. I will definitely check these out. I have the manual 2 frame extractor and that same sieve. Now I just need these 2 things and I'll be ready to go. I always enjoy learning from your videos. 💖
Awesome! I definitely learned there is a lot more work then I anticipated hahaha
where did you get the bottles?
We got ours from Glass Packaging Solutions, LLC
But if you want to try a couple of them out there's a link in the description.
Nothing fancy, perfect, cause that's the way life is around this rustic hobby farm:)
Same here!
How many frames of honey did it take to make your bottles
We had eight 13oz bottles and four 3oz bottles from two frames of honey.
And the honey is measured by weight, not fluid ounces.

If you heat your knife it will go a lot better.
We use hot water instead. Heated knife can change the taste of the honey slightly and we want to keep it as close as we can to the original taste.
