Decathlon has a very small and mostly online presence here but I have known and and used so many of their products back in India, that I kinda have a trust in their products over many other entry level Amazon brands.

Now need to exchange the Itiwit pump as I stupidly bought the version for SUPs that doesn't have the deflate mode 😐
Will be doing a test run with the family - partner and Little Man - on the river Lea this weekend, and am planning a number of staycation excursions where we can utilise the kayak
Tested the X100 on River Lea today with the family between Hertford and Ware.
Easy as pie to inflate using Itiwit Double Action Hand Pump Low Pressure 10 PSI pump. I was quite surprised at how little effort I had to use.
That said, took considerably longer than 11 and a half mins for our first time, as we spent more time faffing with moving the kayak in the right position, making way for people walking past, keeping our Little Man in check who wanted to help (more hindrance), fighting with bugs et al. Pro tip: choose your launch area with a little more care than we initially did to avoid being disturbed by people and bugs.
No issues with stability at all. You'd be hard pressed to capsize. Agree with criticisms regarding seats - especially the backs. We might not have properly fastened the backs so will need to check manual.
Used Itiwit 4 section paddles. Liked the fact that very easy to adjust length if I'm using then or when my partner used them. Do get a little wet when paddling due to water dripping down the paddle.
Most pleasing aspect was my partner was very sceptical at first, and I thought she wasn't going to step foot onto the kayak. Then within 5 minutes of hitting the water, she was greatly enjoying the experience!
She's a bigger convert to kayaking than I am!
All in all, have enjoyed our first time family kayaking. Looking forward to going back either next weekend (unless weather is bad) or when we head to West Sussex for the week.

Thanks for video, I got mine today, I am a paddle boarder with an 18 month old great granddaughter and this is my plan for introducing her to the water. We have tried SUP but she is a bit young for that yet so we will see how we get on with this.

I bought this X100 last summer and its great for short family trips. I used this kayak on sea, and it is sturdy, fast and easy to transport. Pump is ok, but this year I bought Itiwit electrical pump and it is really good when it hot outside. Recommend, if you wanna inflate quick and without sweating :)
Now, I look something for myself - one seater, and in doubt inflatable vs hardshell.
Someone tell me once, the best kayak is the one you can take right away and put it in the water ... :)
and I kind of agree with that, at 48, I'm starting to feel the pressure of tidying up my backpack after 1-2hour of pleasure.

Since you asked for different boats to review I would love to See a review on the Advanced Elements AirFrame Expedition Elite and a comparison to the x500 because I am really struggling which one to get for multi-day Tours or even a couple of weeks long tours. Mainly in quiet water but potentially sea-kayaking and light Whitewater.

Great review Stevie, thanks. Was torn between this x100 and the smaller 2 seater for myself and my wife, but was a bit concerned it might be too big if I just wanted to use it on my own. Think this is the better option now, more legroom for 2, and as youve demonstrated it seems perfectly fine for solo use also!
Thanks Niall, I took this on the Thames for a couple of days with overnight camp and it was great. Not too big for solo handling but plenty of room for all my kit. Plus have the option of taking passengers. Enjoy 🚣♂️

Great review. I bought the 2 seater last week. Haven’t been in the water yet but put it together at home and I’m surprised at how sturdy it is. Was able to put it together no problem without instructions as we couldn’t find them. Must have been too eager to blow it up and never noticed the pocket inside the bag. Got them now😂

You may not have many subscribers (you will) but, I bought this kayak because of your review, so thank you. I've been looking for an upgrade to the Sevylor Hudson that is now in its 10th year of use and is now more stormglue than PVC, there are so many holes in it! I tried a couple of slightly smaller dropstitch floor kayaks by Aqua Marina but found them too short and narrow. Hopefully this one will fit the bill. You and I paddle on the same stretches of the Thames and the Wey so I might see you out there with my two boys. All the best and good luck.

I live next to the Øresund straight and are planning to kayak along the coast here. I won't go out on the windiest of days, but there's often at least a little wind.
As I will be going along the coast, I won't have many ways to control how I paddle against waves and wind. Do you think the X100 will work with some side waves, or am I better suited with an X500?

Hello, first of all thanks for the review
Im from belgium and i do a lot of trip with that type of boat, we usually go with 3/4 of these boat and we do some camping, usually 4 days, its perfect, easy to transport, to install, and the 2/3 person have enought room to put our material in it
Its the first onrle with drop stitch floor i get and im well happy to have it, the only problem is the seat, i buy other seat with much larger and bigger back, its better for a long trip cause we usually do 6 to 8 hours on the water per day
So if you want the advise of someone that does this pretty often its an affordable boat, easy to use maintain and store.

Thanks! Portaging was fine with this boat, it's pretty light so I had no problem carrying it up the locks on the River Wey.
It's fine for a trolley too, the floor is very stiff so you could attach a kayak trolley just as easily as a rigid kayak

Even though only the bottom is drop stitch, are the sides made of the same fabric on both boats? As was hoping the X100 is an all over quick drying boat. I’d appreciate your feedback re: how quickly the X100 dries as I guess that was the issue tempting me towards the more expensive boat. Ali
Hi Ali, the are different. The X100 doesn't have a fabric sleeve like the 100 which is great because it dries much quicker! You can just towel dry it before deflating. Easy.

It's very helpful as I'm completely new to this hobby and about to buy a kayak. From what I understand and see, this Itiwit x100 is what I need... Mostly for going up and down on the river from the Mediterranean shore to my house which is very close to it (in Tel aviv)
One question though - will this three sitter be too big and combersome to travel alone?. I'm looking for a doat could take my wife/kids and I from time to time but that will be good when I'm out alone in it too
Thanks for your kind words Elad! If it's for mostly solo paddling and the occasional passenger then the 2 seater is fine, it's still quite a roomy boat. I haven't found the 3 seater too big or cumbersome for solo paddling so it's a good choice if you expect more than 1 passenger. Enjoy 🚣♂️

So in terms of being a novice, although the X500 is for intermediate users I totally believe that it is a suitable boat for beginners. As for stability, the latest version of the X500 is very stable as the hull has been flattened near the seat, so don't worry about stability. The X100 is super stable, but of course any boat can tip.
If you want to spend many hours in the boat and cover a lot of distance then go for the X500. If you just want to spend a couple of relaxing hours on the water at a time and don't intend to go very far then I'd go for the X100.

Stevie, I think the two black elastic loops on the outside of the backpack, down by the pocket are actually intended to hold the pump. Who knew !

Thanks Jay. I haven't had any issues Luke that. The construction and materials are of a very reassuring quality and the warranty is two years - which means Itiwit are pretty confident about sturdiness. I think as long as these boats are looked after (cleaned properly after use, not left out in the sun etc..) then they will last.

As for the X100 I bought one here in Mauritius to replace the 3 seater 100 I’d bought in London - which I eventually sold because it just took too long to dry. I’ve only used it once so far and was surprised to see bits of glue in various places on the floor section - which also has an issue where the grooved flooring is starting to lift off after just 1 use.
I had been warned by Decathlon Mauritius that there may be quality control issues with the X100 they’ve got in stock here because 9 out of the 10 they’ve sold have been returned due to the glue failing on the inflatable floor. They’re not sure what the cause is - maybe people inflating it to the Max PSI and leaving it in the tropical sun?
I inflated all 3 sections to 1 PSI under the recommended PSI and had no issues. The only problems I’ve identified were the excess bits of glue here and there on the inflatable floor section and about 2 inches of the groove floor cover lifting up already. It seems to me it was manufactured in a rush, the quality control was lacking or the glue is of poor quality.

Thanks Neil. This was my first thought as well, but actually paddling is fine without. There are indentations half way down that you could use as footrests, but I haven't felt the need to use them. It feels like paddling a canoe but with a double bladed paddle. With two of you can even use single bladed paddles

Just bought one and impressed. I do find the seats to be uncomfortable and the back should be longer. Kayak seats are fitted with brass attachments - but the Itiwit only has the slip in locking tab. Any ideas how to get around this for a new seat?
Thanks Mike. I have heard of people swapping out the Itiwit seats for other seats and using the existing buckles. Not sure about changing the attachments, but this is a good point and something I will look into. I'm thinking about making some videos about kayak mods, so will do some research

Hi Stevie, loving your videos! I'm looking at getting either this x100 or the Aqua Marina Tomahawk Air C. I've seen a few reviews saying the Air C is a bit tippy and wondered if you ahed any thoughts on it as a full drop stitch inflatable. Is it worth making the jump to full drop stitch or is it simply overkill? I've got a fair amount of paddling experience and would say I'm intermediate.
Hi, thanks! I've been trying to get hold of the Aqua Marinas for review, hopefully we can make that happen soon. As for drop-stitch, I think it really makes a difference. The rigidity means the boats are quicker and track straighter. They are more stable entering and exiting (you can actually stand up in the X100). And I think you will get a few more years life out of a drop stitch than a traditional pontoon style inflatable.

I use an Insta 360 GO2 for on board kayak shots. It comes with a reusable strong sticky pad mount which I stick to the bow of the boat.
It's not super reliable and the camera has to be lashed with chord in case it falls off. But I've found it works quite well for most of the shots I want to get. Flow-state stabilisation is great on the GO2 as well, it locks to the horizon which is great on a boat. It's so much lighter than the GoPro I used to have as well!

Great review. I got the x100+ which is 50cm shorter and I wanted a kayak that I could use solo half the time and tandem half the time. I find it a good size to use tandem/solo. When used tandem I have to put the seat right to the back of the cockpit though. How did you find the durability of the fabric? I got a few small puncture holes in mine after only a few uses. Also, I did not get on with the inflatable seats (make it too wobbly) and use my own fabric seats.
What seats did you use - and how did you fix to the kayak? Not easy!
@@mikecullis8401 I curently just use the fairly generic fabric kayak seats which have 4 straps for attaching to the body of the kayak. Each strap has metal carbiner clips. The Itiwit does not have Drings to attach the carabiner clips to but I just threaded short strips of webbing straps through the 6 buckles on the itiwit, tied knots in the straps and then attached the carabiner strips to the knots. I also use a gel seat pad which I place on the seats for extra comfort. The best method would be to buy some webbing straps with D-rings attached to them, sure could find some online

What shoes do you recommend for an inflatable kayak? Can the sole of shoes puncture the kayak, or do you consider this uncritical? Thanks in advance for your appreciated advice!
I use neoprene kayak boots from Palm. I used to find them uncomfortable until I realised you can wear socks with them as normal, so I've started using them again. Sometimes I also use tennis style sneakers. I've even used waterproof trail runners while camping as they are good in both the boat and on the bank. Anything with a rubber sole should be fine.

I think it would be fine in the sea, my X500 performs brilliantly in salt water and this is made from similar materials. As long as it's hosed down with fresh water after use. The stiff drop stitch floor would be great for playing in the waves.
As for drying, I was out with it yesterday and forgot my towel for drying. It was aa sunny day and it air dried pretty quickly, less than 10 minutes.

You can now get a drop stitch floor, for the non drop stitch version.

Definitely, very sturdy. The floor is like a SUP, the pontoon style sides are like a RHIB.
Is this suitable for 3 adults? You mention 2 adults and a dog, what about 3 x grown ups. Would it be too unstable /heavy? Offcourse would be within weight spec but is it best to keep away from the max?
No, it'll be a bit cramped with 3 adults, as said 2 adults and a dog or 2 adults and a small child will be the limit. Decathlon does a bigger model that maybe suitable

You should lead with the fact that decathlon loaned you the boat...
There is an 'includes paid promotion' notice for the first 10 seconds of the video for exactly this purpose, even though I am not paid, sponsored and the boat was not gifted.

The horrible user experience with the Itiwit X100
Purchased a 3-person inflatable kayak from Decathlon, model X100 (Ref. 8486041), in April last year. We used the kayak for one Mediterranean summer (three and a half weeks in 2022.), and then stored it (washed with fresh water twice) unfolded, in the dry and dark room. During the first week of summer 2023, the glued joint on the stern failed, a day later one of the seats deflated with no visible damage, and then, two days later the dropstitch bottom experienced a malfunction (the seam opened).
Bottomline - around four weeks of enjoyment for around 500 Euros, and a lot of tears from my child. A horrible experience with an unbelievably low-quality product. Mine, and my family's disappointment is indescribable.
