Thanks man.. I played a gig with it yesterday, no set up no fiddling just literally as it arrived and it was awesome. Pickup system is really good. Plugged direct into the mixer and sounded great.
Excited now- wait til you plug in that AP5 Pro. Reputation is well deserved. Guitar sounds beautiful, very balanced across the range. Love your playing Jason.
Thanks man.. I gigged with it on the weekend and yeah pickup was really good.. easy to find a good sound and BIG without sounding like a movie theatre.
That's a nice guitar there. With the built in tuner I think you're gonna have an easier time in noisy venues. If you were in Japan I would have worked out a swap for your FS5 with my FSX5. I've never plugged it in....
Hey Jason, Ross from Alice Springs here (remember I checked out your Furch). Was in Sydney for the past few days and played the dreadnought version - didn't know they made the smaller bodied one as I would have been interested if it had enough bottom end. The dread too was a lovely looker and sounded very good. The necks somehow feel "right" , just very slightly under 1 3/4 nut ; it seems they got the best and put them in a blender. I saw a reply that said they aren't worth it which I beg to differ with - the package includes an at least $300 case and one of the very best pick up systems available worth at least $4 - 500;. If you are good with the acoustic sound as you are , it's a dead set winner - congrats. Cheers, Ross P.S. will be keen to hear your pick up impressions.
Hey Ross good to hear from you mate. Man the Furch went to a young bloke.. singer song writer so hopefully it's a perfect fit for him and he's clocking up the miles on it. Man I reckon it's got plenty of bottom end personally, but hey I know you're a fussy fucker haha so still best to try one out. Good point on the case it is a REALLY nice quality case. The pickup is great I've played two gigs with it now. I haven't used a sound hole cover yet and no feedback issues and I'm running it HOT, it's easy to dial in on the fly and tweak for different songs, I'm getting lots of comments on the sound. The Blender analogy is bang on man.. I don't like skinny necks but this is great, very close to the FS5 which is 1 3/4 but slimmer feeling (spacing) than normal especially up the neck.. they feel very similar. The Maton is a blended version of my favourite guitars so far...the Furch, Yam and Guild Thats what I love.. it's like its got all the things I like from each of them.. Pretty chuffed!
I love the sound of that guitar and I'd love to get one. Huge sound I think because the body is so deep..rich tone. How much does it cost if you're lucky enough to get one? Your guitar playing sounds great,,, I was doing something in this shown up in my feed and the music was perfect.
Mate never heard of them until 14 years ago moved to Straya from London and my mate back home who collected Gibson said fk man get ya self a Maton?? when I asked about one of his Gibson collection for sale lol just got one a few weeks ago and man I love it! I buy guitars in every state just cheapies but my Maton is a forever guitar EM325C Awsome 2004
It's great when you find a guitar that's as responsive as that. I lucked out & found a cedar top Tanglewood that suits my modest needs, sustains well & sounds punchy, $200 at Cashies.
Man!!.. Killer.. love a good bargain... they're still out there. Monster sounding Sigmas can be found from time to time for next to nothing, still some cheap early Japanese bargains to be found but not as much anymore.. Tokais and such.. and certainly some of the Yamahas you pick up cheap can sound amazing.. trust your ears hey
Thanx mate. I'm in Canadá and I've never seen one here but looks great sounds great and Tommy Emanuel swears by them. Today 3000 is what you need to get a decent instrement. Cheers.
Jason, check out Melbourne Acoustic Centre's review of the Troubadours - it's a great rap. Type in : Introducing the new Troubadour Series from Maton Guitars Cheers, Ross
Yeah I did man, I ordered mine and while I was waiting for it to arrive I found that one. Think I picked the right model of the three listening to the comparison
Excited now- wait til you plug in that AP5 Pro. Reputation is well deserved. Guitar sounds beautiful, very balanced across the range. Love your playing Jason.
If your playing finger style blues you would be far better off with a Gibson Lg2 or 00 pickups are easy these days they all make good ones I love Matons they make amazing guitars and I have one but there better choices for finger style blues and most of them are a shorter scale. Nice playing!
Thanks Bernie, yeah I have a lil m40 Guild which I love, I just got sick of the pickup issues I was having so this guitar was more about consistent live sound... and nice to own something locally made. I might tune it down a tad yet. I love the huge bass it has with a heavy thumb though so we will see
I always said that as well and bought this specifically for the plugged in sound but was absolutely shocked by the acoustic sound.. its really something.
This is a nice guitar but not worth the 3k asking price. Maton sells them with electronic’s which only adds price. Nice looking and without gold Grover’s they did a nice job. Great OM size at 25.5 scale length. I would have to play it, but I think I’d rather h@ve a Martin OM. Sound, tone and looks is the reason. Still nice. Thanks
Cheers Rob I looked at buying a whiskey Sunset a while back, man sweet looking guitars.. still this is what's doing it for me atm.. and yeah you are right you need to play any of them. I learned that looking at two identical spec Martins years ago one made me drool (I still think about that one) the other meh.. not so much.. and actually the Nashville Maton I played didn't do it for me
Man that’s a killer guitar. Looks and sounds amazing. Wicked great playing aesthetic well!
Thanks man.. I played a gig with it yesterday, no set up no fiddling just literally as it arrived and it was awesome. Pickup system is really good. Plugged direct into the mixer and sounded great.
@@JasonMckellMusic that had to be nice. Just plug it in and you’re good to go. Sweet!
@@triples4good for sure.. I copied Joe Robinsons settings and tweaked it a tiny bit here and there to see what it does.. seems pretty versatile
Just freekin beautiful mate. Well done. Love that burst. And no cutaway perfect.
Yeah man.. I actually was thinking it needed open gear tuners but in the flesh I just dig all of it.
Excited now- wait til you plug in that AP5 Pro. Reputation is well deserved. Guitar sounds beautiful, very balanced across the range. Love your playing Jason.

Outstanding tone........ Sounds like a great investment
Thanks for the review, I’m looking at getting it when it comes in to the local music shop
Cool, yeah I very impressed a few gigs in..sounds great live.
Impressive looking & sounds great. Nice playing as usual. Hopefully see this guitar in the UK sometime !
Thanks yes it's only new here but seems like there's a lot of interest in it so should be available everywhere fairly quickly I would think.
They're available in the UK from Guitar Village on pre-order. I'm tempted by the dreadnought having seen a brief demo on RUclips
@@ubermod5564 Nice man go give one a play
Hello, congratulations on the beautiful and incredibly inspiring Maton. Can I know what model it is exactly?
Hey there what a nice comment it's called a Maton Troubadour traditional
@@JasonMckellMusic Thank You very much!
One great looking and sounding guitar.

No tuner on the Maton pickup.. Wow that would be cool👍
Sounds great! I really like the shape of the dread too. With the pickup, it's hard to beat for a performer guitar!
yeah man that pickup reputation is what got me looking but once I saw the new paint job.. pfft Take my money!! haha
@@JasonMckellMusic Know what you mean...I've said that more than a few times to my fav., Martin Guitars.
oh yeah! 👍
Damn right

Man thats a great Ax. And the sound is magic. Perfect for the blues. Love to hear it in double dropped D. Congrats. 🎸😎
She was tuned flat when I first played it and sounded rad.. I may have a play with dropping it a little.. the bass is godmode😎
You sure have enough blues Down Under.

Tommy emmanuels fav guitar maker that says it all fantastic.

Can one be bought in Canada
Yeah I reckon.. Herbert Musique is listed on the Maton website as the Canada dealer
I wanted a MATON until I played a few.
May be ok plugged in but not my style.
