Marty wrote “You Gave Me a Mountain” which Elvis featured in his “Aloha From Hawaii” concert which was probably his best show ever. Have you reacted to anything from that video?
I have never commented on your page but I love your reactions. This is probably my favorite of his but I would love to see you react to “Devil Woman” and also “Carmen”. Those two are great songs of his. That have a great story
I always find myself comparing this to Elvis' 'You Gave Me A Mountain.' The structure of the two songs is very similar, but I find the story of 'My Woman' is so much more emotional - probably because it makes me think of my mother. Marty is such a goof on-stage, though....
Elvis recorded his own version of this Marty Robbins song. Needless to say, Elvis did justice to the song, not better but equally great (if memory serves me). In many instances when Elvis recorded a song that was a hit for someone else, his did a definitive version.. greater than the original. But no one has surpassed Marty's.
Marty always joked with his audience. At the opry, they allow people to come and go as close as they need to the foot of the stage for pictures. Notice, Marty ask one lady where she was going. Then in the middle of the song at 2:41 he sees shes back and yells "that was fast!"
writing a song like that he earned plenty of heaven for them both rip marty
Did yall know his Hobbie was racing Nascar he was actually pretty good
Thank you for reacting to my song always was my favorite. I saw him in person in the 70’s he always put on a good show
Thank you again for these oldies. I was fortunate to attend Marty Robbins concerts and he never disappointed.
The ultimate love song
He and Merle haggard were practically a comedy team together. So funny. He really was a cut up. Beautiful song, beautiful voice.
Beautiful song. Marty wtote it about his wife. So gald l got to see him in person when l was a teenager.
Another great song with a similar sentiment: You're My Best Friend by "the gentle giant" Don Williams.
Beautiful song.
That a nice rabbit hole to go down.
I always loved his voice,
Need to react to Marty's "A White Sports Coat and a Pink Carnation".
Marty was marvelously great 😻👏🏻🥰‼️
Love that song. I always sang this at karaoke. Unfortunately, I can't sing anymore due to vocal cord damage from cancer surgery.

Lovely song!! 😊
It is a great song, and one that I think is in the same line is Tom Jones' She's A Lady, both talk of their loves.
You'll enjoy his song
Masters call
Wonderful reaction.
Nobody wanted to follow Marty on stage.Saw him live, great show!
one correction, Tasha. She didn’t miscarry. The two babies were born in the Spring but died that Winter.

It's because Marty Robbins wrote both songs.

Did you know Marty has/had a glass 👁️? I can’t remember how he lost his eye, though I used to know. Old age gettin’ to my brain.
