Edits:
"Mercer confirmed that the Aspect of the Mallard bit was a typo/mistranslation. He meant to say it grants you a swim speed." Thanks Bolshoi333!
It sounds silly until you have ever been charged by a duck or goose or swan. XD
So fitting :P
Satan's own birds.
That's how im going to refer to them from now on.
"What a pretty satan." "Oh look at that murder of satans." "Someone help, that satan just attacked that child holding a bread loaf!"
Yeeeeessssss
This is Donald Duck class, He's always raging
Haha totally fitting.
Always raging, never healing.
You know, there is this Homebrew Race called Wakahnka...
If you aren't a fan of the flavor, everything but the totemic attunement would translate really well into Totem of the the Turtle.
Solid point, Taperat.
when this was introduced in CR it seriously quacked me up... i'll show myself out
Ba dum chhh
"By the glorious Matt Mercer"
Got that right
Also, don't you rest? didnt this *just* drop??
It sure did. You know what they say -- early bird gets the viewers. Wait, thats not it...
Titan Bear Gaming Something along the lines of "Early Vulture eats all the dead meat" no?
Do share that Vulture Totem option too, I'll be waiting for it!
Totem of the duck is a surprisingly good option.
Totem: Vulture sounds Epic looking forward to seeing it :D
All we need is a 3 man birdbarian party with Eagle,Duck and Vulture XD
I love themed Parties. This one would be spectacular. Nice a barbarian version of Three Is Company. The Mallard obviously being the comedic relief.
I'm imagining a Duck Totem Barb swimming high-speed at their enemy, hitting land, charging them and honking like a Duck.
Hahaha I love it.
*instert D-Day footage*
...Primo Ducktoria...
i still think scanlan polymorphed lionel gayheart from a duck to a half-orc for protection.. it explains why lionel cant remember anything before the pond.. I LOVE CR!!!
Way too fun. Loved the Jon Heder episodes.
As soon as Matt heard about that theory, he apparently decided it was canonical. It was amazing.
DID HE? i must have missed that juicy lil tid bit..
I love the level 14 for the duck. It’s less of fear from actual being scared of your might. It’s more they are scared in a way that they think you lost your marbles
oh yeah i was waiting for this glad mercer is taking his job seriously
I don't know how he manages to push out so much DnD material alongside his VO work AND critical role.
Would an evil Totem of the Duck Barbarian be a Darkwing Duck?
Hard yes.
It'd be NegaDuck, wouldn't it?
Trick question, all Ducks are actually evil aligned.
I would love to see the Vulture option you came up with, that sounds interesting thematically. Love the video, keep up the good work!
Thanks Ben -- be sure to tune into our Discord server, I think I'll debut the details for the Vulture there, collect some feedback from folks.
Mercer confirmed that the Aspect of the Mallard bit was a typo/mistranslation. He meant to say it grants you a swim speed.
Cool, I'll make note on the pinned comment. Thanks Bolshoi333.
Source?
MetaKaios, it's on the DMs guild post, under Discussions.

I'm praying for a totem of the caterpillar.
What do you figure would go into a totem of the caterpillar? It should eventually become a beautiful butterfly :P
You could consume loads of cabbage and grow rapidly in size before becoming essentially a giant pixie.
"I would like to QUACK"
Unable to be frightened or charmed while QUACKING.
actually thinking of homebrewing a Totem of the Shark/whale/octopus Barbarian to use on Island native or marine characters like tritons.
I love it. Lots of great ideas from folks about new beast totems -- especially themed for air/water.
Why not a totem of the Penguin?
He actually made it... Wow...
He sure did, and it is magnificent. Lol.
The flavor text in this PDF is hilarious I suggest it as a fun read to get a glimpse into my Lord and savior Matt Mercer's brain
Totally right, Christian, its way funny.
Great video, as always! I absolutely love the humor in this! I also like how it's building off something from the phb in a new and interesting way.
Me too Steven :) Thanks!
Flavorful and fun! Great for a campy campaign setting.
I think it should be Totem of the Goose. I find geese more aggressive than ducks. I have seen them have stand downs with box trucks.
Overall I like this concept, it's fun and silly to a degree and that's sort of the point, I think.
Goose totally works here too :P
"A duck that's been polymorphed into a human." Haha i'm dead.
Genuinely burst out laughing.
I highly recommend watching the Jon Heder episodes of Critical Role Campaign 1 -- since that's where this archetype made its debut. His character Lionel is hilarious.
Donald Duck in human disguise B^)
I think that's my fave CR theory 🤣
I'm so glad you liked the idea of a constitution focused Totem of the Vulture Barbarian. You should definitely post it on your discord for feedback, I think the first iteration you came up with was great.
Will do Claude!
This is majestic.
As majestic as the proud canard.
"Duck Powers" 😂 I can't get over that one.
Its pretty comical. Great subclass in general.
I will be joining a group in the next few weeks...and I will be playing Babaduke halfling barbarian and will be taking the Totem of the Duck...knees beware...
Babaduke, love it.
Love it! It's a funny theme, but those abilities seem useful.
Yeah it's way functional.
OMG, this was hilarious! Thanks for sharing it with us ^_^
Quack!
I'm currently using a modified aspect of the eagle in exchange for the vulture, so i'd love to hear what your aspect is like!
I'm polishing it up now. I'll post it soon :)
Love the content man, will you be doing videos on any of the unearth arcana stuff the just released centaur and minotaur playable races would love to hear your thoughts on them
Probably. You can also come chat about it on our Discord, we've been talkin bout it all week. Would love to see you there.
Can't wait to see the vulture idea!
Polishing it up now!
You are actually doing this. OKAY.
RanwulfMaxwell that sounds so passive aggressive, like you must have some beef with some duck in your past or something
I do. Damn Ducks. They ruined Duckburg!
They also founded Duckburg, I presume.
I thought this was a troll until I watched this video xD
Kind of hilarious timing with proximity to April 1. But its real!
Anyone who has ever played Runequest, King of Dragon Pass or anything Glorantha related should know that Ducks are Serious Business (tm)
Hey, would you mind looking at DawnForgeCast's Shaman Homebrew class? Was wondering if it was too over tuned or fair? Really wanted to play it as my next character, but some of his stuff is called over powered by other members on Reddit. Whether it's an an actual video or just a quick message/reply is fine!
I'll take a look Caleb.
Howard the Duck makes sense now.
Is it strange that I've already played a duck Barbarian. I'm not saying that my totem was doc, I was actually playing as a duck
Haha. Polymorph or a variant Aarakocra?
Titan Bear Gaming nope. Just a duck. Born duck and died a duck. Ended up swallowing the eye of vecna
a duck enchanted by Awakening?
Because I've been thinking of playing a giant ape that has been enchanted by Awakening.
Sandro Swen nope, just a duck
Make it so :) Are you going Barbarian with it?
Had to check if this was released on ther 1st of April...
I wonder what a totem of the bunny would look like! 😂
TimmyJ93 leap or charm effect or maybe a bite
You can jump further or hear
Not sure the last one
Enhanced Danger Sense, Jump Spell as a Bonus Action, Gain HP from Carrots.
Bunny would definitely be a good addition to the base!
Nathan Yoder But only for 3 second bursts.
Lol that intro

I want to hear someone go into a rage by calling out Aflac... just saying!
Hahah yess.
1st of April is two weeks ago, you're a bit late xD
Wait this is real
Yeah, and the mechanics really aren't bad either :P
You are seriously adorable. 🔥🐻
Is this a fucking joke.
Thought this was April fools joke
Super real. So real, it was featured on an episode of Critical Role when Jon Heder guest starred.
