    Debilitating barrage effects last for one minute OR until the creature suffers damage of that type. So one minute of vulnerability to fire or until you hit him with a fire bolt.

    • @TitanGamingTV
      @TitanGamingTV  5 лет назад +1

      That seems right. I think I was thrown off with the ordering - it feels like 5e typically lists it as "vulnerability on the next attack of said type, lasting up to 1 minute". Ah well such it is :) Thanks for the comment!

      @@TitanGamingTV as I see it, it would apply to whichever comes first, either a minute goes by with the vulnerability and without the target being hit by the damage type chosen, or the target is hit once by the damage type chosen, and then the effect fades.

  • @lucasdozza9750

    I think the debilitating barrage feature works the same way as the Grave Cleric's Path to the Grave that lasts until the end of the Cleric's next turn, so if for some reason no one attacks the creature it's lost by then. So the Debilitating Barrage would last for one minute, if no one hits it with the specified damage type until then, it is lost.
    That's how I think it works anyway.

    Once that chosen damage type is used on the person affected by debilitating barrage the spell ends. If the chosen damage type is never used on the person in the span of one minute the spell ends regardless.

      At glance, it looks like the 4 domains introduced in the Supplement (solidarity, strength, ambition, and zeal) seen to have a mix of archetype abilities from the PHB cleric archetypes.
      Like the Strength Domain Cleric has the druid cantrip access and heavy armor proficiency like a Nature Cleric but also the Feat of Strength channel divinity option which is like the Guided Strike from War Cleric but applied to any Strength roll.
      This supplement has that and its cool to see how the different cleric abilities would interact.

    This almost reminds me of a group of people from Mistborn books. Kinda spoilery stuff here so don't read this if you are reading or plan to read the books any time soon.
    In the Mistborn series, The Keepers are a clandestine group that uses a set of abilities to store memories (and thus knowledge) in metal, specifically copper, items - almost always jewelry so it could be easily transported, concealed, etc. But any piece of pure copper would work so long as they could touch it. Their ultimate goal is to safeguard the knowledge and remain hidden from the big bad guy of the first book until such a time it is safe to come out of hiding and spread the knowledge he tries to repress and erase.
    They also have the ability to store other things in different types of metals, such as storing strength, speed, senses (vision, hearing, etc), and even things like physical weight. So if they got knocked off a cliff, they could immediately begin storing weight and would weigh so little that their body's normal surface area would slow the fall enough to prevent injury. Or in a reverse scenario, if they needed to jump out of a pit, they could store weight, instantly become lighter, then draw on stored strength and jump significantly higher than normal. Of course while storing these things, that specific attribute would become weaker/lesser for the duration. And when storing memories, they are instantly gone from that person's mind until needed and accessed from that "coppermind."
    So not exactly the same, but definitely a very similar feel between the 2 groups.

      That's what makes it interesting. If people were going for straight optimization of their skills, cleric should always be the number one choice. Bulk wisdom and constitution and wear plate armour and you're a god, but relatively boring.
      Forcing the careful selection like this makes it more interesting to me. You can't dump all your modifier increases into two skills and be finished, it takes thought and planning.

      Matt Mercer specifically made a joke about how they said he couldn’t turn a class into a 4 ability score class... he did it that way on purpose but man it makes the class kinda bad if you don’t allocate the proper things necessary for it

    • @dynamicworlds1
      @dynamicworlds1 5 лет назад +2

      Back in 3.x we had paladins which were 5 ability score "dependant". You know what?
      It made for some rather varried paladin builds depending on where you wanted to put your high abilities without a lot of subclasses. You could make a strength-based damage dealer, a con-based tank, a charisma-based build to take advantage of other class abilities (lay on hands, divine grace, turning, etc), and you'd also be drawn to putting points in int for the expertise feat and skill points (because you never had enough skill points as a paladin for even your core stuff) and wisdom for spellcasting.
      You could make a generalist or you could specialize at excelling at a specific area of your class features.
      Charisma paladins were common enough that they got a special name for the build (chaladins), but there were plenty of gruff low-cha dwarven paladins out there too.
      MAD is a bad way to think about it, IMO. Rather, classes would feel a lot less cookie-cutter if they can make use of different abilities in different ways, being both mechanically effective and different with different stat blocks plunked in.
      I find the design style that makes classes need high stats in 2 abilities and then play nearly the same reguardless of where you put the leftovers far less interesting and far more limiting, personally.
      It's not even like you need a particularly high int to make good use of the class features. Even just a 12 would _double_ the number of reactions you could make in a round, and then the training could fill in your proficiencies.

    • @Takapon218
      @Takapon218 5 лет назад +1

      3.5 MAD =\= 5e MAD
      I like the point you’re trying to make, but the systems are so incomparable that it’s just not applicable to the situation.
      Monks absolutely REQUIRE dexterity and wisdom. With this subclass, they also require intelligence.
      Constitution and strength aren’t 100% necessary but having low health as a melee class is damning... strength can be dumped tho, but it ruins athletics and that’s kind of important for monks.
      So if you roll below average or use the point buy/standard array, this is an AWFUL class archetype to go because it makes your archetype features (other than advantage on intelligence ability checks) worthless

  • @Blizz3112
    @Blizz3112 5 лет назад +1

    Didn't like the Bloodhunter that much, but the Cobalt Soul Monk is insanely great roleplay-wise and also fairly fun to play combat-wise... maybe the only downside is that ALSO requires Intelligence, which means Monks need good investment in Dex, Wis, Con AND Int, instead of the general Dex, Wis and Con investment...

    Imagine being some sick weak wizard laughing at a party of adventurers as you cast Invulnerability, only for a monk to hit you three times take no damage then get hit by a 8th level inflict wounds by the cleric.

    Just because Matthew Mercer designed this class Doesn't mean I like it, it is terrible in so many ways it is far and away the worst possible Monk.

    I love Matt. But giving sudo expertise is crap. No, sorry.

      It is only on knowledge skills, so at least its limited in that regard. Physical skills will still be the domain of the rogue expertise, at least.

    Mercer needs to stop worrying about making a broken class and make something fun and useful to play. All of his homebrew classes are just bad across the board.
