    Thank you! at 31:45 you answered my question. I asked the consultants from the companies where I bought my bumper and winch, about accessing the free spool lever. One said to purchase a flexible lever extender ($70.00), another said that I should be able to fit my hand in one of the bumper openings (Not!) Others had no idea of what I needed. Thanks again. Made my day.

    Excellent video. Very thorough. I have been looking at these winches, but don't necessarily want to put a big ol' heavy bumper on my truck. This is a great alternative. Thanks for posting; I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of your content!

    The perfect spot to relocate the light bar to would have to be onto my Taco! Great video!

    Nicely done! I'm just about ready to buy that Bulldog for my 6 month old '21 TRD Off Road. As much as I like the cool bumpers that are available, I really didn't want to be forced to live with that look, even though they really enhance the Taco. It's been very hard to track down a decent hidden mount that wasn't as much or more than the custom bumpers! Nice to see the options with the Badlands, too. I already have a Warn XD9000i and being an integral solenoid, I will have to play with options to accommodate the solenoid similar to what you touched on yet avoided. If it won't go in clean than I'll just buy the Badlands and sell the Warn and keep some money! They're definitely putting a hurt on the Warn market and HF is doing a pretty good job on longevity of those winches. I doubt it would have lasted as long as my Warn which I have had in service since 2003 and still going after a life in my tree service contracting business but now I'm retired and it will only see weekend warrior work and only on limited occasions at that. I'll end up losing my Diode Dynamics Stealth 30" LED like you did. Sort of bummed but I have a similar spot to put it on my wife's new '22 RAV4 XLE AWD and it should be a pretty bad-ass addition to her DD SS3 Pro fogs!
    Again, appreciate the detailed video. Didn't really need the tool use lessons but I don't doubt you helped to serve others with it!

      @@azbackroadadventures Question for you what do you do when your state requires a front license plate?

    • @azbackroadadventures
      @azbackroadadventures  2 года назад

      Great question! There is a kit that you can get online that will put a hinge on the front plate to hinge up when you want to use the winch. I can locate one for you and link it if you like.

    Thanks so much! I was hoping to find someone who had used this setup. I like the way the Tacoma looks. You've preserved that well! Did you find any other options for mounting the control box? In Phoenix, I'd be concerned about blocking airflow to the condenser and radiator.

    • @azbackroadadventures
      @azbackroadadventures  Год назад +3

      I am in Phoenix as well. I am actually adding a small pusher fan with a temperature control switch. While i didnt have any issues daily driving through the summer i did notice a little higher than normal temp while offroading in the heat. Roughly $40 on Amazon. I have links if you would like.

    • @azbackroadadventures
      @azbackroadadventures  Год назад

      The power disconnect by the battery yes. The steel plate that bolts to the frame, no. Link to that is in the description. The fairlead mount, yes it came with the winch.

    excellent video, I have my led bar in that same place, could it be that by adding the winch it would require entering again, it is a rigid e30

    • @azbackroadadventures
      @azbackroadadventures  10 месяцев назад

      Your comment said entering again. Did you mean relocating it?
      If so, then yes! I was super bummed i had to relocate the lightbar, but it worked out great in the lower section of the upper grill.

      The 2022 is still a 3rd gen so it should all be the same. The winch plate is from Etrailers.com and is called a hidden winch mount.

  • @gabrielmorcillo8946

    I was thinking of doing the same mount and little different winch 9500 badland, but my question is does the winch have the ability to connect it to a switch panel that way you can eliminate the battery disconnect?.
    That way if you want to use it you can push the panel button, and reverse the spool. Rather than open the hood turn it on, close the hood, reverse the spool. An same concept for when your done push the button on the panel to turn it off compared to opening the hood disconnect it and close the hood.
    I ask because i see you have a switch panel fuse box and if your like me you got your roof light, bed rack lights, bumper light bar, flood lights on a 6 switch panel. I simply want to put those lights, winch, and eventually air compressor all on 1 panel

    • @azbackroadadventures
      @azbackroadadventures  10 месяцев назад +1

      That is a great thought and i like where your head is at, but the amperage draw is way too much for a switch panel. The relays are only rated for 30 amps max (i believe) and the gauge wire you need to run wont fit into the connectors on the switch panel box. It only takes a quick second to open the hood and flip the switch, plus you usually have to open the hood to turn on the control box and freespool anyway.
      Also before you do the 9500 keep in mind that its not just the weight of the one vehicle you’re pulling all the time. If you have to run a snatch block or multiple it could put excess strain on the winch, for the small price difference its well worth the peace of mind.

    How do you access Control lever on winch after closed up? Thanks

    • @azbackroadadventures
      @azbackroadadventures  Год назад +1

      Do you mean the free-spool lever? You have to pop the hood to access the main breaker and turn on the bluetooth controller anyway, but should you need it while using the winch you can access through one of the slots in the grill.

  • @philliplegrant790

    How do you get to your clutch handle?

    • @azbackroadadventures
      @azbackroadadventures  6 месяцев назад

      When you pop the hood to turn on the power disconnect you reach down next to the grill if need be.
