Verbos Bark Filter 4/4: Envelope Followers (LMS Eurorack Expansion Project)

- This fourth of four movies on the Verbos Electronics Bark Filter Processor focuses on using the independent envelope followers attached to each of its 12 bands to trigger other sounds (in this case, a Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas and an Erica Synths Pico Drums). I talk a bit about choosing different frequency bands to isolate different sounds, and demonstrate using a trigger delay (from a Roland 572) to clean up spurious triggers.

Thank you very much for this series. This module caught my attention, and after watching your videos I decided to add it to my ever growing system. Cheers!
getting more out of your ever growing modular synth is a key sentence and true
Thanks a lot!
Very logically presented video. If I ever go from 9U to 12U I'll get one of those, though I did recently buy a Dominion 1 so..
yes now getting more ideas for using the Bark filter feel free to add more examples 😏
Thanks.
Interesting! Thx.
What are the boxes on right, one with wood surround? Wild guess, is one an EMW EML synth?
On top is a pair of Dennis Electronics CVPs (Control Voltage Processors). The tall thing underneath is a custom cabinet by Carl Fravel of Gentle Electric containing a lot of VCAs (based on the Aries design, using 3080 chips) plus other utilities like attenuators, bias voltages, mults, etc.
So this has 12 envelope followers?
Yes! With bandpass filters in front of each one.
So is this really just another vocoder or something slightly different?
Simple vocoding is one thing it does. It's better thought of as a filter bank where you have a lot of control over the individual bands, with some helpful "grouping" CV inputs along the bottom like center and width.
The most unnecessary ponytail ever.
We had a contest here to come up with the best reply to your trolling, and the winner was: "The most unnecessary comment ever." ;-)
