Overall, the L4 Expedition with a 4HP Motor is the most ultimate badass inshore set up for fishing, duck hunting & hoodrat Florida shit in general.
If your gonna put a motor on it, get a gas motor. I don't do well with electricity, especially in water.
2HP + would be fine, but spend the xtra $300 & get a motor with reverse.
The motor mount looks stressed at full throttle, but I'll make a video on how to reinforce it, once I figure out how to make it more secure.
You'll have to do some experimentation with weight distribution to get the smoothest plane, but its pretty much 100% ready to go out of the box.

Great video!
Nice video dude! Got mine. I have the L2 not the expedition. I love it
Nice man! It would be nice to have it a bit lighter.
@@StevenMichaelCalabrese Yep. You know it
great review, better rod tip
Can you make a video on how you mount it by yourself on the jeep?
Oh wow. I have a similar setup but with the 2.5hp. That has to be a lot of weight back there with the 4
Good review, about how wide are the “pontoons”? Im looking to build something like this and was just curious
Not sure, but the specs should be on the website
I have the same with the Honda 2.5 motor and with 2 people on it it's very slow
How stable is this board, from your video it looks like can walk around on it like a boat? Thanks
It’s actually really stable, I can walk around on it and you can’t really flip the thing even if you jump up and down
Great video, especially the pipe. The rails that accessories/the transom mounts into, is it plastic or metal?
They're optional for both plastic/aluminum.
How did you get the motor bracket I can't find it anywhere?
SUP CUSTOMS
You got a email I can reach you at? Wondering how the paddle board has held up, if you regret the 4hp and if you still got it will you sell it. Looking to use it primarily with two people not sure how it’ll do. Thanks
sure thing Steve@steveCalabrese.com two ppl is a bit much, it sinks in the front end with 2 ppl and motor
That was done putting it on RUclips now if you do break it they definitely won't warranty it if they find your video
Yes, It is done. I don’t need the warranty. It’s a piece of fiberglass.
Is that outboard short shaft or long shaft?
short shaft
So hows it offshore ?
Gotta be super calm, like glass. But it’s doable to fish, five off of
Hey man I've got a 14' L4E with a 3.5HP Merc.. Ive had issues with registering the boat as a boat and from what I've gathered the Marine Patrol don't play around with non registered motor powered vessels. Any plans to get your registered or if you have how did you go about getting it cleared in FL. Down in Orlando, but i would assume it would be similar?
I need to get mine registered too, I was just going to play dumb, but i think its time. Have you gone to the Tax collector and tried yet?
I registered mine a few years ago, as a homemade vessel.. you’ll need the manufacture certificate that came with the board. They will send you a new one if you lost it.
@@sanibelislandgirl7721 did you have to get a marine patrol officer to verify the “homemade” board? Or did you just take the manufacture cert to the registration office and file?
@@crossfitcountryboy as someone who built a homemade boat I can say no they will not inspect it unless it's over 17. Mine is 16ft.
Skegs not rudders.
